Sod the forks, what you really need is a new rear Ardent to even up the shocking size disparity between the front and the rear wheels! The front looks like a monster truck wheel … 8O

Another shout for Pure, we have a Pure Evoke Flow. Does DAB/FM + internet radio, streams from your computer library and ipod-in. Battery is extra but not too much extra. Good sound from mine, very happy with it. Plumped for it as internet radio is the future, DAB is 80’s technology still huffing to get off the start line, it’s pretty dated by today’s standards. HTH.

Got mine today, after giving up all hope of receiving it! Will have to get a different sprocket for it to work on my small saw (024) but should be ok. Gloves too… size 11?!?! Hands of the Yeti…Anyone want to swap them for some size 9’s??

inbred, can you post up your findings please? Was being quizzed at the weekend by a mate who’s looking to get one for his 10yo son, who I think is ‘tall’. Many thanks!

Many thanks for all the replies! Most helpful. Wondering just how good rechargeable lithium batteries are, I know the non rechargeable versions are much better suited to heavy load applications such as digital cameras etc…?

@isitaboutabicycle, £50 is NOT right. Reddog Racing will do you one for £12.75.
I do agree however that you will need one! As for most brakes, no?

I have a pair, and would recommend them, have always preferred the avid lever shape, ever since the original single digit. SLX lever is not for me. Any brake is only as good as you set it up IMO.

I’ll stand up for the videos, I have to say I like them – however not in place of pictures and text. Good to hear that is all on it’s way, it’s a shame it was not able to be delivered all at once.
I’ve already been verbally coshed by chipps for saying this, but I’ll say it again… the video’s are too focused on the presenters face and need to spend more time focusing on the bikes! The Bionicon is a good example, watch it with the sound off, the guy is urging you with his body language to look at the bike, willing you on even but no….FACE. Sigh. Add some pictures to the bottom of that article however and you’ve improved the situation 100%.
Regardless of the above, I’m still glad that you’re putting the effort to get this brought to us, and that you have time to respond to our whining.
Ok, time for more tea. chocolate hobnob anyone?

just go and ride! Stop worrying. If it feels right it is right. You’ll soon know if it’s too low or too high. Most of the time saddle height compromised to give more ‘chuckability’…hence the reason that gravity dropper seatposts are so popular these days…

Here’s mine, old school frame, faded paint, gaffer tape stuck on by the previous owner but I love it with my heart and Soul.
Running a very niche 3×8 (!), Pike 454 air u-turns, hope/arches, 90mm stem. Was pondering going to a 70mm, 50 was just way too short.
Lovely bike, best one I’ve ever owned.

    Best axe I’ve ever used…Fiskars X27
Head material a little soft, but F-me does it split. Finnish company so should know a thing or two about felling trees. Brand over here has been hijacked by Wilkinson Sword (I think?) but their axes are still made by them. Highly recommended, and you can get them from Amazon too! :P

ok, this is brilliant. you can export from routebuddy your gpx files into the os site and you can create a route and export to a gpx file, which then will load into routebuddy on the iphone. Seriously impressed with this all, and in theory you could use all this for free. top notch.

Think you should be able to make it work with RouteBuddy, I’m trialling atm (iOS)… The online maps are ok if you have good signal(haw haw), however you can download any OS sheet in the usual scales to the device. In other words, OS 1:25k map, gps, tracking, compass, waymarkers, exportable routes. Maps are pricy though, 20£ a pop, but then it’s in your pocket. Paper map Killer.

I can see your map, are you sure that’s your route because it looks like a giant squiggle to me!?!?! That’s some route you’ve got there… I’m having problems with Chrome on the OS website, will not finish loading. Works ok from Fleefox however…

Have you tried the new OS mapping dooda? Had an email through about it recently, haven’t played much with it yet, seems a bit basic but worth a crack?

EDIT need to read the original post! Worth installing silverlight and getting the site working, might solve your problems!

I also use RouteBuddy for OSX and on my iPhone, which works well.
Hope this is of some use?!

I’ll put in another good word for the diesels, I’ve had a mk4 1.9 and currently own a 09 plate GT TDI 2.0 140. few niggles with the older car but then it had been to the moon and back, new engine is just… Boooooooost! great fun, good economy, no issues as yet. Very happy.

Ok, so pressure registered 85(ish) on connection, inflated to 130, disconnected, reconnected, pressure registered 100.
Hummmmmmmmm. Maybe I don’t have as big a problem as I 1st thought?

Stumpy, interesting, I remember reading something like this before albeit about another issue…
The forks do seem to be softer after a few hours… Going to try an experiment with a pump now to see what effect disconnecting/reconnecting has…
Thanks for the advice so far….

Got one, albeit due to the cheapness factor (saddle + post FOC) and rate it, apart from the lack of ‘upgrade’ options! It does mean that you’re not able to spend money on that part of the bike, so a good thing if you ask me!
I’ve got a Belair RL (or maybe an RT, can’t recall), but its pretty good. Would buy again…

I’m going to try that now. It best had live up to expectations…
