I used to go to the private school next to the Chelsea training ground (it was something else then), I cycled.

Most of us would back down even if we think we’re in the right wouldn’t we? I do so whilst tutting and shaking my head which makes me feel better….

Interesting comment from someone who knows what they are talking about:

Last time I went shopping with my wife was ring choosing in Hatten Garden – the pub lunch break was OK.

I did the dead in Picadilly Circus by that Anteros statue – bleugh….

Got to visit a garden – as above Yu Garden is good – and a temple, this was the best I found in Shanghai:

    https://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/shanghai/jingan-temple.htm

Pudong is obviously worth a visit if you like that sort of thing – silly high offices.

I wasn’t that keen on Shanghai but enjoyed some nearby cities – West Lake at Hangzhou is great if you ever get the time:

    Especially this nearby:

Has the OP been stabbed by his hitchhiker?

It’s a few mornings a week and once in the evening so not too demanding but makes a cost hard to define unless it’s always the same number of trips – or just say £1 per trip?

I’m in and so is my 6 yr old son – since he’s started doing these he beat me in the Vuelta but I beat him in the TdF so this is an important race for us….

15 to 20 years is a pretty significant increase in retirement, particularly if you are funding that gap.

    V

a pension for 20 years is a lot different to having one for 3 years.

It’s 25% more, not 700% so yes significant, but not huge.

    I think you’ll find it’s 33 1/3% more:)

Talk here mostly about covering bills and buying nice to haves. What about saving for the future/retirement? Luckily my wife sees the importance with that but isn’t interested in the effort so she leaves this to me to look after which suits me. So she buys what she wants then I take the left overs and do something sensible with them. I cover all bills/holidays/both car costs….

As i earn something like £100/hr as a consultant, technically, the job cost me something like £300.

Not take home pay I guess?

I think it’s a shame but I wouldn’t pay someone to fix kitchen equipment or TV as cost/hassle of fixing unlikely to be justifiable compared to the cost of replacement. Also nice to have something new and shiny…. I remember my Mum getting a toaster repaired back in the 70s, seems crazy now but also wasteful.

And what would that achieve? Signatures mean nothing given that they are now a completely unrepresentative squiggle drawn by a finger on a screen.

    That’s the courier’s problem.

claiming the value back from collect+/ebay/paypal/whoever to refund yourself, no?

Who do Ebay/Paypal care? Collect + might give £50 though.

Don’t let the dentist start anything until you’re sure your ready.

I had a filling redone last week, didn’t go numb after the 1st injection so gave me another. Still didn’t seem to go numb but he said must be OK to start. Bit of muffled screaming but we got through it. Then my mouth went numb.

I use them – get a signature and pay for insurance – cost me a fiver for £300 cover on my last sale.

I pay for pretty much all the bills but I manage all the money moving it between accounts/investments as I see fit. She spends what she wants on whatever – not really to my liking as she fills the house with clutter….

Yes the finest film available to humanity was on some minor channel the other week, lower quality than my DVD but still got drawn into it.

Agree with Shawshank, First Blood, Pulp Fiction – also Django Unchained which I watched twice in a row.

Oh and that film that goes to 11.

Smashed my left one 2 years ago, problem was the bit that came off is one of the tricep attachments so it was put back together, took a long time to recover and still not fully comfortable.

I walked home from age 9 crossing a busy road in the process, one Mum was quite shocked to hear this. From 10 my brother was travelling by train and bus across London. I wouldn’t have liked being left on my own for so long though, I’d have felt lonely but wouldn’t have caused trouble. My parents kept with baby sitters until I was 13, that annoyed me even though I did have younger brothers.

My Great Gran left me a Welsh Dresser which currently lives with my Great Aunt. Not sure what’ll happen to it when she dies, can’t see where it would go in my house really.

Love the early albums but like most their stuff.

    Some that spring to mind:
    Brighton Rock
    Who wants to live forever
    Under Pressure
    The Show must go on
    Love of my life
    Hammer to fall
    Fried Chicken

Well I had a chat with the restaurant manager who confirmed no-one’s going to mind if I ask for it to be removed. I suppose they assume most will just leave it so they’ll make more money.

I suppose the point is that education is worth more to some than to others. How many years do those parents who do this intend to do it for? Just infant school? If you just pay the fines is it OK to carry on doing it?

    mudshark

Fines should be higher and go into a pot to share out to those families who take their holidays when they’re meant to. Like me….

I used a Remington one and then a Nicky Clarke one, neither of which were very good. I saw a £15 one in Lidl a few years ago which has been brilliant so far.

Are you getting you “s and your ‘s mixed up? Does something 38cm wide and 15cm tall sticking out 10cm really count as a bush – that’s a barely a plant!

In danger of being crushed by a dwarf?

The seat/bench belongs to not one Mayor, but it is the seat for past, present and future Mayors

Just sounds like someone trying to justify their original error.

Could the OP not put a plank type thing over the grass, drive on that then remove the plank type thing?

So a 3 bed with garage has sold for £245k? This house is a very nice 4 bed without one so maybe £260k seems logical to the vendor. But as it’s been on the market so long there should be negotiation room, aiming to get it for 10% less than the asking point seems appropriate.

Remember the value is set by the surveyor that carried out the Home Report

The price is set by the vendor – following appropriate advice hopefully.

But you’ll get a lot more house for your money so if you need a big house and want/need to live in a dense area then maybe you make that compromise.
