Woking is a good shout and in budget.

    Really?

Well I see this but it’s not really Woking:

Just how wild are we talking?

Do we want wolves back? Just been to a place that’s quite fond of wolves in Devon – http://www.wildlifedinosaurpark.co.uk/

OP – how much you want to pay to buy? Village or town? Nightlife important? What else?

Guildford best compromise around Surrey maybe but I prefer Dorking – ended up near Leatherhead.

Well I like Tobermory but didn’t realise RRP is so high. Whisky pricing seems quite erratic to me, I only buy when reduced anyway. Any snobs want to have a go at my favourite – Laphroaig?

Just vote for the honest ones – and if no honest ones then get someone honest to stand – then hope (s)he doesn’t become dishonest!

New DWP Oracle project in Warrington is looking for contractors, I’ve chosen not to be put forward as they won’t pay me a suitable rate. Wondering how that will go as they need a lot of bodies.

I don’t know why, but I find cruelty to animals worse that cruelty towards people.

I don’t at all – but certainly hate it. I imagine that this is a failed put down attempt rather than someone having ‘fun’ – quite possibly a psychopath anyway.

Wouldn’t be too bothered if the dog had got his own back and ripped the ****ts balls off – or someone else smashed him on the head with a bat, that kind of cruelty to people works for me.

I have nothing useful to say except that I usually go for rides when this sort of thing happens and leave it to my wife to deal with as she’s better at this sort of thing that me. #baddaddy

The European Commission has reviewed the economic performance of all member states since 1995, and revised its economic statistics to take greater account of things like income from the black economy.

The result is that the UK faces by far the largest extra payment. The Netherlands and Italy also have big bills to pay, and even a struggling country like Greece will see its contribution go up.

In contrast, both Germany and France will get rebates – €1bn for the French.

Lucky Germany and France, never liked us….

Because they were already here and already unemployed?

So there are jobs for them but they don’t want them? Or they truly are useless?

    mudshark

The thing is that the UK does get the people it needs. If it didn’t need unskilled labour they wouldn’t get jobs.

So why have we got so many unemployed unskilled people?

Unhealthy food/cheap. I think this is really about buying the family sized ready made foods from supermarket budget labels – fatty/salty/tasty (to some).

I have wondered why those poorer people with gardens don’t grow veg more – some do but many don’t. Would education help or would this just be another chore to make them hate life? Growing veg isn’t a middle class thing but many grow veg not due to financial reasons so what’s the motivation?

Never used the word references on any CV of mine. Maybe mention them in a covering letter.

…as a graduate your first job in a career path is the most important one. Various reasons- you get typecast, potential employers look at what you’re doing now and may assume that’s what you’re fit for

Well I agree but I have assumed that the OP’s son hasn’t just applied for anything at random and that the job might be relevant to his career – just that the hours/pay ain’t great.

    Peanuts can be spent.

Experience working is useful experience. Gaps on CVs have to be explained too.

From the first moment my son arrived I was very attached to him – Mum did most the boring stuff though. He certainly looked like me – had my hair(y shoulders) anyway.

there’s a degree of snobbishness involved which I hate but unfortunately it’s how it is.

Doesn’t sound like he’s going to be looking for jobs in any elitist places anytime soon though.

could always do what my little brother did, get a PhD and then start 10 years later on just 10k a year more

    That was a long PhD!

I’d rather have the OP son’s potential job than none.

Depends on what other options there are. I’d have taken whatever job I could get just to get started as a grad. Once in one it’s easy enough to find a better one.

Well some parents batter or even kill their kids so try not to do that, if you don’t trust yourself leave things to Mum.

As my son had to ‘come out through the sun roof’ I held him for 30 mins or more before she did, instant bond.

Finishing a party at 1.30 (still plenty of time for everyone to get some sleep)

I would be calling the council before then – OP is more tolerant than me I think. I would discuss with neighbour first though.

    unskilled immigration

Don’t we have a lot of unskilled unemployed people here already? Is it that they don’t want to work or can’t find work?

    …You’re shit

What rubbish! No idea on the impact but agents sort out the contacts, English isn’t a rare skill – I had some Poles (a cleaner and a builder) living with me around 10 years ago who could speak fine. Money? They had some.

Unfortunately those Poles were kicked out of the country for stealing stuff but I’m sure most are fine!

I live next to retired people, they’re so nice and quiet. Hope they don’t go anywhere anytime soon….

Neighbours should discuss noisy parties before having them – I told mine when we were having one for my 4 year old; that did get a bit out of hand though.
