I hope those who remortgaged to invest around a month ago are feeling as confident as those who got in earlier. Ripple’s down about 2/3rds.

No doubt it will all recover…or not.

A tough day for the cryptos! Bitcoin is looking bad but Ripple has really slumped

Maybe someone who got into Cryptos over a year ago? Those who did in the last month are likely to be feeling quite poor now.

    I’m probably in TJ’s rich elite….

I can’t think I knew that some call black people monkeys, always associated it with kids. I call my son a monkey, he’s half Chinese rather than fully black so guess that’s OK? He says that I must be a monkey then as I’m his Dad.

Sounds like you really need insurance!

He, he. I’ve had some bad luck over the last few years but not a lot before that – oh there was the time some drunk lads decided to climb onto my roof and broke some tiles when I lived in a terrace house in London.

I use Quotemehappy for my car insurance and they dealt with my 2 accidents last year no problem, even got a private investigator involved as they suspected foul play from the other party in one of the ‘accidents’ (the other was a hit’n’run). Although not at fault I got stuck with blame on both but protected no-claims has kept me OK.

BTW, I have house insurance with Barclays who paid out fine on a bike smashed in a club run crash and also on a leaking water pipe which they could have ducked out of really – also a lost ring.

I remember talking to Richard in the late 90s, you could buy the amps in kit form to save money and they’d also let you trade amps in for full money (IIRC).

Anyone heard any of the Naim Ovators? A couple on Ebay at the moment.

@mudshark, you’ve brought back memories of my old 104s-I bought some secondhand about 25 years ago. Still going strong in the hands of my brother. Great speakers!!

Were these the 104/2 speakers? I recently asked on Pink Fish Media what sort of price range I’d need to look at to get an improvement and was told I’d need to spend £4k so am sticking with what I have. I feel some decent Kudos speakers would appeal but think I’ll wait until mine need refurbishing which I probably won’t want to bother with.

I nearly bought some shabby SCM 50As with a view to bringing them up to latest spec. Still sticking with the Kef 104/2s I’ve had for 20 years despite a number of CD and amp changes – Naim CDX/XPS/82/250.

I do think the price you can get these speakers for now makes them a bargain – if in good order.

Well it’ll move dramatically in a few hours so if you time trades right you could make a lot. Or lose a lot….

    Um, I was joking dude.

Bitcoin down over the last few days as bitcoin cash sucks the money in. I’m buying bitcoin on these dips.

Oh, you might be down a bit now? Pump more in or is this the start of the bubble bursting? Time to throw the dice?!

They can wear large face masks so not so bad.

    Sensible career choice really:

Most dentists are self-employed contractors in general practice, mixing NHS with private work, and earn £50,000 to £110,000. Wholly private dentists can earn £140,000+.

I’m friendly with this guy not far from Guildford, also he rides bikes. People have told me he gives good deal. This seems to be his website but doesn’t work for me:

It’s take off was in 2013 really when it went over $1000 dollars then returned to around $200. It only really got going again the Spring of this year; I’e been following it all through this as a mate got in big-time in 2014 and was curious to see how it would work out. He could now retire but has no plans to sell.

Well seems UPS aren’t so great. I was able to go online to change my delivery date to be next Monday, yesterday they didn’t try to deliver stating this as the reason but then they tried today and say they’ll try tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll also try on Monday.

Bloke in our club isn’t allowed out much so mostly rides on his turbo. When he does come out, once a month at most, he rides with our A group which I struggle with.

    He may be very fit!

    It’s all about having confidence.

How do you have confidence in a cryptocurrency?

When the creation of bitcoin ceases then miners will get less revenue but they will still get revenue based on the transaction fees, which may go up.

They will go up and so transaction costs will be high and time to execute a sell will at times be far too long given the dramatic price movements. The processing power needed to perform a transaction is just ridiculous – sort of the point but what a waste in a world that’s supposed to be becoming more energy efficient.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to 40-60,000 in 2018.

Yeah a bit like Amway or any old Ponzi scheme – got to get more people in!

My first experience of dress down Friday in an office 25 years ago didn’t go so well, I turned up in Bermuda shorts and a bright blue vest – it was hot. Lost my job the next week – only a summer job fortunately.

As has been said I’m not sure why it keeps being called a ‘divorce bill’ – we are simply honouring commitments made whilst members of the EU.

    That’s what a divorce bill/settlement is isn’t it?

I do feel that we should have been enable to negotiate a number of years of free access, as now, in return for this payment though.

If this Government actually takes us out of the EU, I’m of a mind that perhaps the pain of a couple of years under the terms of a hard Brexit is worthwhile so that the 52% actually understand what membership gave us.

Well most of them seem to ignore the drop in GDP as being irrelevant ignoring the fact we were one of the fastest growing before the vote but now bumping along the bottom.

Given that there are 1300 cryptocurrencies at the moment I wonder how people decide which ones to provide processing power for – presumably going for the most profitable is sensible.

Must be a few BOBFOCs here assuming people do ride as much as they talk about it…?!

I put my pic up on hot or not many years ago out of interest as to how things worked on there and averaged around 7. Interesting thing was seeing how individials voted and getting the odd 10; all you need to do is meet a few of those.

Just had a quick peak and it seems to work as a way to meet people now which I didn’t notice at the time I played with it.

Anyone fancy giving it a go then posting results here?!

Isn’t that a consequence rather than the point?

Once the cost/benefit ratio stops working people won’t bother mining any more and then where will we be?

Farah hasn’t won it and he’s peaked so it’s his time. Froome will hopefully do well again next year but if he never wins this award it’ll be a shame really – but I’m sure he’ll cope….

I’m not sure the title fits. It’s sports PERSONALITY of the year

Presumably it’s a concise way of saying what you think it should say. What do you think is a better title?

I’ve been driving myself insane the last few days, wondering whether to pay extra for an Elite Direto

I have an Elite Real Turbo Muin and see you can pick them up cheapish now:

I don’t use Zwift but like the Real Software with all sorts of training programs, fitness tests and video rides.

    I’ve got a pocket sprung/latex combo.

I think that’s what I have – possibly memory foam top though? It has helped with my sore lower back. It keeps me a bit warmer in the winter but not too warm in the summer so works well for me.

I did an extension that affected party walls on both sides of my terrace house in London. It did get quite expensive unfortunately as one side didn’t want me to extend so caused as much trouble as possible. Annoyingly some years later she did the same extension herself and used the wall I’d built so saving money – after I’d moved out though.

I’m working in the new Co-op building to the north of the centre, plenty of cheap car parking here with a 10 min walk to Piccadilly Gardens.
