Tax Organic and non GM food then?
Let’s be honest, smoking is most popular amongst those who can least afford them. It’s very a regressive tax IMHO.
Keep the basics tax free and ramp it up for 2 seater sports cars I say. Do we want to ban smoking? People would carry on illegally right – as many do now. So high tax helps stop people starting along with campaigns, reducing the places where it’s allowed and minimising the marketing that cigarette companies can do. I think we’re doing pretty well on this really but there are always some who’ll be attracted to narcotics and then get addicted, no free state can stop that.
You’ve got 14 years so I’d be putting into unit trusts, a bit of risk is worth it for that time scale – indeed my son’s money is invested with http://www.familyinvestments.co.uk/ as started a CTF with them and I top it up – Should probably move to a child ISA though. Of course you can’t just put £20k into a child ISA so maybe put it in over a few years and in a savings account in the meantime.
Starting onsite on Monday, just heard that the guy I was supposed to start with has resigned – suspect it’s the expenses issue as he told me he hadn’t negotiated them but not sure so trying to contact him.
Interestingly II don’t charge you for your ISA, or an ISA of anyone else at the same address, if you have a SIPP with them. Plus they give you some free trades each quarter.
Marketing is a big deal in football and why there’s so much money involved. Works well if you’re liked but mess up and you’re in trouble. Gotta play the game.
12,000km target hit for me, will carry on with base miles until the Spring but doubt I’ll have the time for so much riding this year so not going for a target this time.
I guess things have changed but in ’99 I bought a 1900s house in London and arranged a home buyer’s report and asked if I could meet the surveyor at the property. He was there for hours and found lots that needed doing to the property, the report was great as I gave it to the builders when I later renovated the place to get everything sorted out.
That sounds a good deal for that time, 18 months earlier I was very happy with base rate + 0.49% offset tracker; no idea when those deals will come again but perhaps when base rate returns to a sensible level over inflation.
The washing machine I just replaced was a Bosch, no idea how old as was in the house when I bought it but the on/off switch needed to be held in for the machine to run, the fascia wasn’t on it when we moved in and when the drum stopped spinning I figured easiest to just replace – maybe I could have fixed it.
Yeah I’m not concerned, will look for a contract in Jan – currently getting paid for being at home so OK with that! I’m told to ignore the warnings but do wonder if my mgr is getting asked some questions – as I’m just waiting for clearance shouldn’t really be an issue, currently they’re waiting for my accountant to give a reference – hope he’s not on holiday….
Just got another email warning – lots more important people copied in. In my contract it says I’m on 1 week’s notice for my 1st 6 months from the company, no mention of how much notice I would have to give so do I just assume it’s the same from me?
It’s basically the footpath on the north side of the road running from Leatherhead to Ashtead – well it stops before you get to Ashtead with no warning.
When it opened people were talking about it on Streetlife and asking why people weren’t using it. So I forced myself to ride it from Leatherhead and back so I could report back – a painful experience! A bit of googling showed that people thought it was a waste of money and tried to stop it but council weren’t going to back down – I think total bill was well over £1m. Maybe kids can use it to get to school?
I tell people to be angry and the council not the cyclists.
My sister resigned based on an offer over the phone where discussed and agreed working hours. Later agreed hours was changed meaning she couldn’t take the job so left without one. I’d always wait for contract but not unlikely to go wrong really.
I pay for her car and council tax. I have threatened to leave in the past due to the whole disgusting living conditions and she sped home from work and tears and threats of my life ain’t worth living if you go etc.
Can she afford not to have you there? That might be a big part of her concern.
I’d go for option A. Rates should start to rise soon – but maybe not! If rates did go up much you should be able to get a lower tracker at that time – when rates where higher I arranged a 0.49% tracker which I still have.
