3 star wasn’t uncommon and in there was also 1 and 5 star I’m told.

Its not a bikeshop is it? Not a £%&#@ chance I’d go into a bricks&mortar bike shop.

Seems a shame as you’re so experienced at buying and selling bikes.

Goodwill is the amount you have to pay to buy a business over it’s true worth…. Just work out it’s value to you then make an offer related to that, then negotiate as required.

If Aru and Purito weren’t in my fantasy team I’d be gunning for Dumoulin – fantastic riding so far.

I’ve always had good service when buying and selling with a high street EA but the cost is high enough that might not go that way if I move again. My last house sold the 1st weekend it was on the market due to the list of suitable buyers the agent already had so that can be worth paying for – depends on the local market. Rightmove and Primelocation must be the key places for finding buyer but suppose there are still people who just use high street EAs.

NW mtb winter boots on my road bike using Shimano touring pedals has worked well for me in recent years – though I do rub the cranks a bit so switch to older ones for the winter. Cheaper/better than overboots. MTB ones save wear on the road cleats and nicer when walking around at cafe stops.

I’m just trying to convert the slightly beat up bike to dedicated turbo use cheaply. 118mm sounds good thanks.

I always use High 5 gels and think taste fine and OK on my stomach, often seem able to get them in these deals.

AC/DC – True about Brian except that Back in Black and Thunderstruck are two of the best rock tracks ever.

The Chili’s are brilliant! Started with them back in the late 80s and loved how they’ve evolved – Scar Tissue is a fave.
Also like some of the Beatles and think Ringo is a top drummer!

U2, Coldplay and Oasis are poor though, not bothered about The Smiths either

There seemed too many grads when I was a student in the early 90s, I decided to do an MSc as wanted to differentiate myself. Not sure how much that helped in the end but it was funded and I got a good job. These days I see more Indians than Brits on my IT projects so shortage there it seems.

Is it the older Virb? I’m thinking of doing this:

Of course all those disagreeing on merging properly who read this have the chance to change their ways and benefit – if they can deal with the frowns from those they pass?!

Blockers and tutterers are annoyed that they haven’t got the sense to stick to the emptier lane. Lorry drivers often move into the lane they need to be in early when they get the chance rather than risk getting stuck – then in these merging lanes decide to be Judge Dredd and block the way for others. Anyway, long may all this last as saves me quite a bit of time some journeys.

Live in the Surrey Hills, can’t see what’s not to like! Well, some anti-cycling feeling here.

Not much of the East side of the country appeals really – Kent would be OK I think. Parts of North Wales, such as Rhyl, are worth avoiding.

I think I’d most like to be in the Cotswolds but a bit too far from London for comfort really.

KOMs are a funny thing really. I ride in the Surrey Hills where thousands of cyclists do their thing regularly so KOMs are a rare thing, I just look at what percentile I’m in and if I’m beating my club mates :). If you just want KOMs then create private segments! I do this for my training loops, as like to see how I’m doing, and was surprised to see KOMs reported as it’s a bit silly really. Far prefer longer segments or proper climbs – the 100 climbs ones are good to go for, often filter out stupid segments though there are so many it’s too much of a chore really.

Oh well I was considering it even after reading lots of negative comments about the guards (fitting mainly I think) as I use a carbon Defy as my best bike and like that. But then I saw a 4S frame for around £350 so just went for it.

I looked at getting an alu Defy for winter use but tales of too tight a fit for mudguards put me off.

That is a good rate, not sure I’d ever switch out of it as can’t see anyone getting that again. I’m on 0.49% above br but it’s an offset tracker so happy with that.

Love my 4S. I thought about steel but good alu frames are nice to ride and a fair bit lighter – at least in the price bracket I was looking at suitable for winter use with mudguards.

Mostly you lose by fixing but it’s an insurance so worth paying for in some cases.

    Glad I never fixed.

What are you looking for? Better lifestyle, cheaper rent? I know someone who lives in Broadstairs as he loves it there and accepts he has to commute a lot wherever he works – often London but could be anywhere in the UK really as does client-site projects. I do same work but choose the Surrey Hills, tempted to move out to somewhere more rural around the Chilterns though.

Very happy with mine bought in the spring, good with guards and bigger tyres for winter use.

Pretty sure 91-92 was the first year

I’d say 90/91 as I got one in that year which was my 2nd year – so my 1st year was last year of grants – I was also the last year of O’levels so that’s nice.

The current better off NI payers are paying for the older generation and it’s not unlikely they’ll not benefit themselves as there won’t be enough money in the pot by that time. So they need their own pensions to pay for their retirement or risk having to downsize their property or whatever – which might be a valid approach to retirement planning for some.

Well I’ll decide how to discuss with with my son on how bright he turns out – ultimately it’ll be his decision but if he wants advice then the more likely he is to have the potential to have a high salary then the more I’ll suggest a degree is appropriate. So many average kids think they are bright just because they can get onto a Uni course but many of them have just been mislead into thinking any old degree is a ticket to a lucrative career.

Then there’s all the pressure from immigration, not sure how wide spread this is but I’m sitting in a room full of Indians here in Gloucestershire working a high value IT project – that’s 22 Indians and 3 white consultants. Common in my area of IT anyway.

BTL is made more risky if includes a mortgage – gearing means you could be wiped out with a fall in property prices. Thing is we are also likely to own our own property so adding BTL property to the value of our own means massive exposure to property prices. I have a fair chunk invested in unit trusts both in a SIPP and in ISAs but is smaller than the value of the house I live in. I can’t see me ever owning a BTL place – this is also partly as I think BTL is bad for society though.
