For weight loss turbo is unlikely to be as good as real rides as would spend a lot more time out on the bike than on the turbo. Turbo does build up muscle and improve fitness well though.

    So do both.

Buy a house in France, somewhere near hills and the sea

That’s what I want to do but can’t decide where.

Frustringly I could do this now if I could deal with leaving my over-priced house in Surrey and work out how to keep the family happy. Vaguely thinking I’ll retire when a lost my job and getting another that I’d be happy with paying a similar level seems unlikely.

Having recently been to Warwick Castle the answer seems to me to drop something heavy on it from an upstairs window?

Surely you’d want to do the searches whatever as if something comes up then can claim on the indemnity insurance?

Partly to sucker you in and partly so they don’t have to refund the whole lot if the event is cancelled?

So when this aggressive bloke grabbed your son how did you react anyway? Using appropriate physical force can be used in such circumstances right?

Also would have got a photo for future reference – assuming I hadn’t gone a bit far with thee physical force bit of course.

The Queen Mother had her honeymoon near me, Roger Waters was born in my village, Barnes Wallis lived nearby as did Thomas Cubitt and Maurice Joseph Micklewhite still does – that’s the most famous thing so everyone knows that.

IMO the problem with BTL is that many have mortgages so they’re borrowing to invest so adds risk but increases massively the upside potential. Thing is people can get wiped out in a downturn – such as happened a few years ago.

BTL is the way for the better off to make money out of the less well off as reduces supply of affordable houses. Needs Government to sort out really.

I kept thinking about getting a touring bike and eventually went for a Kaffenback but as soon as it arrived I saw someone selling a nice Galaxy on here so bought that and sold the Kaffenback on here to someone who was frustrated as there was no stock left.

Wifey gets it tax free right?

Looks like inheritance tax paid for the kids’ share only and any unused portion of the tax free allowance gets added to spouse’s allowance for when they die.

That link’s quite clear – wife and kids get it all in England – but it doesn’t mention inheritance tax in that case, thought there would be for the kids?

I got a simple old style brush and do it every year – not sure how well it cleans it but I don’t get soot coming down causing problems. I tape a plastic sheet over the fireplace with a hole for the brush.

The only reason I have not reported them is that it would mean the two youngest kids being put into care

Hmmm, maybe the people qualified to make those decisions should be allowed to do their job?

I’ve used Elite RealPower and RealAxiom trainers over the last few years, there is racing online but no VR stuff.

I’d get one of these now:

I’d happily sit down right now to a game of Atic Atac, Manic Miner, Paradroid, Uridium…

Not so sure about the 1st 2 but I reckon I’d like to play Psytron as that was pretty involved.

Also – no-one plays text based adventure games now I think? Some were pretty annoying as you had to use just the right words but these days we could have the same sort of games with far more powerful text processing so would they be interesting to some?

Can’t remember but I refused based on the fact that when I bought the house in ’98 I hadn’t been told I needed one and nor had any of the neighbours who’d bought since. There was also a large nice development of flats on top of where the factory had been. This was in West London with lots of people affected if I was.

Was asked to buy an indemnity when selling my house 8 years ago as there had been a battery factory nearby so the land might be contaminated – £500. I refused but I think the buyer bought it anyway.

Quite happy with my 1.2 105 petrol Skoda Roomster which gets close to 50mpg if I’m driving sensibly – not bad for a petrol engine.

I was a rocker/student back in those days and I was either wearing a snow wash jacket or nasty leather one, my mate was similar and we had plenty of mates down the clubs on rock nights. I was evolving though, got into RHCP and FNM.

Oh I work near Cheltenham these days – Bishop’s Cleeve. Ride out over Cleeve Hill towards Stowe and then loop back towards Tewkesbury before cutting back to Bishop’s Cleeve – a 65k lumpy loop.

There’s also Bushcombe Lane to try sometimes – one of those top 100 climb things

The reason Crow stayed in his house was that he liked living there and couldn’t afford to buy his own place in the area.

As a student I rented a room from a couple of socialist teachers who told me they didn’t declare my rent and pay the tax, wish I’d questioned them a bit about that really.

The four most overrated things in life are champagne, lobster, anal sex and picnics.

Depends how much you have to pay for them I suppose.

When I’m old i expect the young to pay for my care. If i didn’t believe that why would i bother paying in

    What choice do you have?

Can’t see how I’ll get a state pension which is the biggest loss I’ll make on this ‘deal’ – I continue to pay my dues.

We need corbyn in charge so the mindset doesn’t need changed.

Why’s that then? Surely the poorer will get money and the richer won’t whoever’s in charge – there’s just not enough left! We ‘need’ to continue the pyramid scheme – more young people needed, just need to sort out how to house them.

Not all youngsters are great with IT. Back in 2000 I sat next to a trainee accountant as couldn’t find a spare desk. I watched her enter a list of numbers into Excel then enter them into a calculator and then putting the total into the spreadsheet. I was amazed that no-one had picked up on this before as she’d been there for quite a while. Anyway, I showed her what to do to get the total but she still insisted on checking with her calculator.

How cute, someone’s made a 3D print of the ‘Save’ icon.

Interesting point – how many youngsters understand what the icon is?!

I’d have left the bike there and suggested the borrower get in touch to discuss how to resolve. Not that I’d lend a bike out anyway unless it was to a cyclist mate who I trust.

Obviously he has to replace but does he have any legal obligation to?

To help pay for this tax relief for rich people she almost double VAT for everyone else by increasing the basic rate from 8% to 15%.

Wow must have been a lot of yacht sales in those days to have such an impact.
