I got a BBB one when I found I had tightened a bolt on my Thomson stem too much and had to drill it out – a not uncommon problem with Thomson it seems; never had a problem with anything else though.

I took all mine off before I drove it last week – but then it’s easy to get it off a Puma….

    Find a decent local butcher.

I was very impressed with the bacon I bought from my local butcher – Ken Davey in Bookham. Completely different from even the best I’d bought from a supermarket. I don’t like to ask if it contains anything it shouldn’t as when I asked if there was a choice of turkeys to order, and that I wanted the best they sell, I was told that they only sell one sort and that they pluck them on the premises then hang in a purpose built turkey cold room for 2 weeks – was then asked ‘Is that good enough for you?’.

Geese make good guards – can even break a man’s arm…or is that swans? Get a swan!

I have the Gore ones too. They cost about £35 last year at Evans and you can just about change gear with them on but I think they are the warmest I have ever had.

Sounds like we have the same ones. An advantage of flippy-floppy levers is chunky gloves don’t cause too many problems with shifting – not that I think the Gore ones are that chunky. I do have some chunky Treks though that would useless on trigger shifters – warm in the coldest weather though.

I have some mounted high up all around my house put up by the previous owners. I live in a safe area so they do little more than let the foxes see where they are going.

Having said that surely having security lighting at the front of the house is worthwhile if you want to protect your garage? It would put people off breaking in wouldn’t it? Not that there would be many people passing to see them in the early hours I suppose.

I use 6 multiple LED ones in a medium sized bedroom – a bit on the dim side but that’s fine for a bedroom. Wouldn’t bother with anything like that in the kitchen until the price of the better LED ones comes right down.

I can’t believe I bought an Oasis album; I guess it was in the brief period of time that I thought Wonderwall was good…. I still think the McAlmont and Butler album is good though not really Brit Pop I suppose. Other than that I think that Supergrass had a lot more going for them than most bands of that time.

    it depends on the viewer.

Well, IMO whilst beauty is in the eye of the beholder, art is in the mind of the creator. Discuss….

Someone was asking for a breast feeding chair on mine recently – apparently such things exist…. The one I remember most though was when someone wanted a dog to get intimate with their bitch – someone complained about that one.

What is art? The answer is that the images are probably both art and vandalism.

I’m a member of the Mole Valley one and it works well. Your 1st post with them has to be an offer but after that no problem. I gave away stuff when I moved house but have ended up with some useful stuff back – good place for decent CRT tellies. There is no excuse to dump anything vaguely useful!

Jail? Depends on whether it’s one of those tough ones in the films where they pump iron in the courtyard and attack each other with weapons cunningly fashioned out of everyday objects.

The thing is though, if I got into my 80s and had a million I’d gladly give it for another year aged 30 odd so perhaps I wouldn’t want to waste a year in jail but maybe if I needed the cash?

I found M&S had got expensive for me so a looked around and found ING about 1/2 the price of M&S with more cover such as emergency call out. I found them up to chat about bikes and I was told that mine are covered but I don’t see any info about that on the site now. When I took mine out you could specifically mention single items so list your bikes – I was told I could do this over the phone as well.

They have to get your signed agreement before going ahead. You can get them to pay for a Party Wall surveyor if you like – you can choose your own!

Well I’m more than happy with these chrome vanadium steel ones from Lidl – on sale again from the 16th for £2.45.

My Welsh Gran says Doll Geth Lee.

Many people pronounce other Welsh places in an English manner, e.g. Llandudno, and think that’s fine but Dolgellau sounds completely different so Doll Geh Loo must be wrong but then that means that Lan Dud no is wrong too then? What say you?

Eh? Where does OP say he needs V brakes: surely he means ‘Cotis Soul versus ????’

Well, this is a good example of why grammar is worth something….

Mine ’05 Talas forks were leaking so I took them off to send to get serviced. I noticed a bit of wear so instead bought the oil and seals to do myself; all fine now for about £25.

If Brown wants to change something then legislation is needed; can’t expect someone to turn down cash unless organized at an organization level somehow I suppose.

I built up a bike for racing and put EA70 flat bars on after only using risers on other bikes. Feels different but fine – flat bars are a bit lighter than risers if that matters. BTW, some people think using risers is foolish as should just get the height needed by using an appropriate stem without the extra weight of risers; though obviously risers have different sweeps so comfort may not be right without them for some.

I just got back from Harrogate – stayed in The Crown Hotel and drank in the Old Bell. Also ate in the Drum and Monkey and got food poisoining – it might not have been from there but not sure what else I ate that could have been dodgy that day – didn’t drink much that evening BTW!

Perhaps the back up plan has already come into force? Not clear on the odd hat thing but I heard about some sort of odd sock exchange that seemed interesting.

I suspect I’d be happy to live in Canadian Avenue in Hoole. A mix of big semis and detached houses sandwiched between playing fields and a large recreation ground with tennis courts.

Maybe that’s the thing to do – bag up my bike and it’ll just be like normal luggage and I can put where I want – well if there’s space anyway.

I lived in Hoole in the mid 80s and then in Kelsall for a few years. Kelsall is a good place really up a hill with a good view and convenientish for getting to motorways. Hoole was a cheap place mostly but we had a semi near playing fields and there are some nicish roads around there. At night Chester centre seemed to have to many unappealing types from the rather large local council estates for my liking – a nicer place to visit than live IMO.

I mean its really not that hard to drive in snow, only ice.

Well I think it’s fairly hard to drive a puma through 12″ of snow! I tried, I failed…. Well I thought the main road would have had more traffic through it so be clearer which is why I tried.

I’m an idiot! I live in Surrey and have about 10″ I think. Was supposed to be driving up to Harrogate but assumed I would be going today so told my colleague last night. My wife said she had to go in and would either take the bus or train but really needs a lift for the train. I asked her this morning if she’d checked if they were running and she said all OK then I saw a car drive past my house so thought cars were getting on OK on the roads. Got the car out of the drive and drove OK to start with but I’m on a bit of a hill so gravity helped. Soon realised that the roads were undriveable for ordinary cars and I was stuck so abandoned the car in a side road – hopefully it won’t get hit! My wife rang her boss who said fine to work at home. I’m not happy….

djglover – I had a 14 GTL! But I thought it looked OK at the time…mine was a nice silver colour with alloy wheels. I kept on top of the rust so it was never too bad.
