Unless you have a dedicated room for listening to music, it’s not worth spending more than a couple of hundred quid.

    Rubbish!

I use Naim CD 3, pre/power/hi-cap with 2nd generation casing and Kef 104/2 speakers – great! IIRC the Kef’s weigh about 32kgs so do well on the heavier is better scale….

As much as I dislike agents and like the idea of doing these things myself I decided to use an agent because they have access to buyers and can do well getting the best possible price. I sold mine 2 years ago in W.London when things were going crazy and sold mine the 1st weekend for more than I thought possible.

My bride was 45 mins late and the aging organist was beginning to struggle. I took on the role of warm up act and tried to keep everyone entertained. Only real problem was it was in Feb and we were running out of light for after wedding photos.

Whilst lemon and sugar is the best I do like ones with icecream stuffed in the middle. My mum used to make wholemeal ones with cheese which were most good.

I don’t think weight training would be of much benefit – I used to squat 140kg when I was into weights but since I got into cycling I’ve cut out leg exercises completely and am a better cyclist for it.

Coffeeking – a few Guardian readers agree with us…

    Merging lanes

Olly – We’re talking about queuing traffic here – at merging earlier as appropriate seems more sensible.

I am usually pretty mellow, but people cutting to the front of queues on dual carriageway or motorway contraflows really hack me off, especially when they drive right up to the cones then try and pull in at the last minute **** up the flow of traffic and making the queues worse.

Mind you I did once manage to block one so he went into the cones, irresponsible but might teach the BMW driving **** to at least slow down before he tries to force his way into traffic.

WTF! You’re supposed to merge by the time you get to the cones – ideally merge the lanes at the point of the cones, one car from each lane at a time; works nice and smoothly. Unfortunately some in this country don’t understand that and works better in other places.

I’ve had various Stout hubs and no problems at all; actually I’ve only once had a problem with any hub so not sure how much use my experience is!

When using flats is there a little bit of downward pressure on the up stroked required to keep the foot in contact with the pedal?

IIRC hamstrings should be about 2/3 the strength of quads so when used correctly could be of benefit when cycling but I’m not sure how much of this power can be utilised.

Release tension: I’ve been using Shimano pedals for 5 years and have always kept mine loose and never come out by accident – possibly this means I don’t pull up enough!

Well I’ve done 155 off road and 245 on road this year which I’m disappointed in but I have to travel at times in my job and missed a weekend being ill.

    lightweight

Is it? Well I have the original XT ones and thought that they were slightly heavier than separate XT levers; maybe the later ones are better.

After 2 weeks on google chrome I couldn’t go back to firefox.

Why? I tried it when it came out but FF seemed the better product then.

I’d get a rescue dog but if buying then I’d buy from someone like my parents who just had a few litters for interest rather than looking at it as a business.

I put internal BB XT HT cranks back on a bike for the winter – 1 tool, no problem and in fact I’ve never had a problem with that Octalink BB. There were def 2 versions of HT before the external BB, I have the 1st one, but can’t remember if there was a name difference. The 2nd had fatter arms.

Some gyms have women only areas due to some feeling intimidated by sweaty, grunting men so I imagine those guys put some women off here. It’s not the most gay friendly place either so can we seperate them off too?

Criticising these builds because they cost a lot of money is pointless.

That’s not the point; some think that those that have to watch the pennies result in a more interesting development than those that get the experts in to build up their dream. I’ve just remembered the one in France where an older couple did most of the work to restore a tower that had all but fallen down. Watching them work out how to do things was far more interesting than a load of pro builders getting on with their jobs. The end result may be interesting but the journey’s important in terms of the show.

I’ve seen a few developments where some of the rooms are boxes within a larger space. I suppose I’m too function oriented but I’d like to be able to use the space over the rooms for storage or whatever. Guess they get dusty on top too….

A few years ago after I left, a previous company I worked for asked everyone to take a pay cut; it was sort of fair as they were mostly paid over the market rate. Many of those that didn’t take it were made redundant in the end.
