    He hates the creationists, really.

I’m sure he does – well thinks that they’re wrong – but he’s saying that a belief in God isn’t necessarily incompatable with evolution. He stated that he’s agnostic so has he said he’s atheist elsewhere?

Just for the record I thought I’d mention that David Attenborough discussed evolution and religion on Jonathan Ross the other night saying that he’s agnostic and thinks that there’s nothing about religion that isn’t compatable with evolution. But you lot carry on telling each other how clever you are – ’tis fine by me…!

Well I think it’s a shame that someone studying chemistry at a top university goes into accountancy; he took the place of someone who could have made a good chemist….

TBF you would not be disappointed with either

Well I was in a store recently looking at the various TVs and they were all showing the same film withe the credits rolling. Some were really jerky whilst others were as smooth as you’d expect. Not sure why but I’d think I’d wasted my money getting one of the jerky ones.

Ditchling Beacon is probably the most failed climb due to all the donkeys on the London to Brighton….

No doubt many students have been unable to participate due to this rule so it’s fair that as the rule was broken they should be disqualified. A rematch might make for popular viewing though – maybe with the remaining 3…like footy…sort of.

I have a Longines Elegance which isn’t particularly expensive but is what I want a watch to be. However, I haven’t worn a watch in over 10 years as hate the feeling of being shackled to time…besides, if I need to know what time it is I have a mobile telephone which has the time as a bonus feature….

Having been prompted to do some research on this from this thread I’m gonna try and get some Michelin Krylions which I’ll use as winter tyres – hard to find at the moment though.

Bontrager Race Lite Hardcase is a good option especially at this price:

I managed to get some big bits of foam as well as the usual bubble wrap and pipe insulation; never had a problem but I do unbolt pretty much everything from the frame.

As a youth I used to weep in butchers’ shops….

I’d kill an animal for food in a way I felt was humane but couldn’t deal with an abattoir but they are a necessary evil – assuming eating animals is necessary!

Also, whilst I’m sure I would get used to the work I’m not sure I’d want to be hardened to that.

I’m glad the conti supporters have come along – thinking about Conti Sport Contacts in 1.3; I think they’ll be big and tough enough for riding through Brittany and sticking to the roads…if I was getting more adventurous then Schwalbe would be the obvious candidate I’m sure.

A light bulb actually has 2 digital states (on/off) as well as an analogue state (temperature). In this sense you could differentiate between off bulbs by comparing their temperature so you could work out the switches for more than 3 switch/bulb combinations.

You may as well add a small hole between each spoke – don’t really need all that material and would save some weight.

    Warning: might not be safe.

uPVC – would have been appalling in my old Victorian house in London though a neighbour had installed it. My current house is 50s built and the previous owners installed what I assume is good quality uPVC windows which look fine. For some reason they chose to put in some with lead strips inside which sounds tacky, and I wouldn’t have done it, but looks OK I suppose.

I came across a couple and their young daughter

    No wonder they were embarrassed.

I’m unsure about this. Not been to Dalby so not sure how it is there but what about at CYB or Afan? There could be a walker around the corner so gonna take it slowly? Well I’m fairly cautious so I’d probably not hit anyone but I wouldn’t blame a more competent rider for hitting someone on a blind corner. I have seen people walking on marked bike trails at CYB so wonder if they knew what they were doing.

Of course some people just blast through even if they see a walker think that they shouldn’t be there; that ain’t right.

I’ve got a few spare runs of Naim NACA5 cable going for free

That’s pretty generous – costs over £10squid a metre and very easy to sell on Ebay.

Why a fast? Easy to administer I suppose. Surely exercise based sponsorship is better for kids and more fun? Or maybe anyone can fast but not everyone can walk 10 miles? Though diabetics maybe not? Or those who’ve had eating disorders? How about sponsored jobs like Bob-a-job? That’s gotta be a better option – has purpose and anyone can do some sort of a job. Except the lazy…fek.

I mean, let’s be realistic; most of us are more than happy with more ‘budget’ equipment.

Nope. After a while with my 1st system I decided the sound was a bit thin. My 2nd system with Arcam CD and Audiolab amp – £450 components – was good but when I started listening to Naim I knew I had to give into their green glow…. At new my CD was about £900, pre/power amp and external power supply about £2k and Kef 104/2 speakers were close to £2k back in the 80s; all bought 2nd hand. Apart from a more realistic sound the great thing is the closer to live sound I get in a kinda bowel slamming sense if I turn it up a notch – great for AC/DC!

Wales is known for not being special at anything…even NZ beats it on the sheep/person ratio….

Actually, I like Wales and would live there if there was a nice job for me.

I got my 1st system from Richer Sounds in ’91. All discounted well reviewed old models such as JPW Sonatas. Service was never great really as just a small shop piled high with kit and not possible to get a proper demo. In later years they bought brands such as Gale so a lot of their stuff is manufactured by themselves.

For those that are confident of knowing what prices have been doing in their local area check out these sites to see what they say – helps if you know the sale price of a place in the last few years.
