Well I went back to my Octalink XT cranks for the winter as my external BB siezed up – never noticed any problem with the older design. Definitely planning to use internal BBs for winter use from now on.

Yeah I bought 5 from Lidl even though I’ve got loads of spairs including some sent by Npower; seems they’re throwing them about.

OTOH my wife came home from work with a box full of filament bulbs (they make them) but not sure what to do with them.

No eyelets on the Pinnacle – but also looking for a way to get something on the ride2work scheme! I also have an Inbed but annoyingly seem to have the only one in existance without eyelets on the dropout. I could use p-clips I suppose but would prefer something more solid.

So I’m choosing between bikes sold by Evans and also looks like I can buy from Planet X – Dawes seem out of stock there and get the impression the Ridgeback is a better bike for heavy touring.

So seems Kaffenback as more of an all rounder or the Ridgeback if I want something more substantial.

Quite a lot of people regard it as mildly off colour.

    Racist.

I still think most of the population are not intelligent enough to vote for a good government.

Whilst that’s probably true there’s no way of deciding who is intelligent enough or a way of getting away with making the decision!

As for those that complain about those who don’t vote – why does it matter? If you don’t care (or even if you don’t think you really understand!) then don’t vote.

The pressure in the cabin does decrease a little though – my ears pop anyway. I deflate mine just to save an argument but I know of someone who deflated his air shock….

get back to your own country

The implication is racist I think even if literally not a problem in this case.

As for DJ – it’s a stereotype sort of a joke which isn’t helpful in a society that tries to be inclusive. If I was in India and people refered to be as John Smith, or whatever, I think I might find it a bit off. I do find it funny when Brits are portrayed as tea drinking toffs or cockney barrow boys though…maybe I wouldn’t if in India though.

There are some tough parts of Coventry but away from the station. I believe Cov was a bad place to be before my time there in the mid-90s but seemed to be an early adopter of city-centre tv cameras and also banning drinking on the streets so maybe that helped.

Plenty call Jade racist for calling her curry-eater friend poppadom so if she’s racist so is David.

As a student I lived a stone’s throw from the rail station and always went into town to drink – can’t say that I ever remember finding anywhere for quality beers though.

I think it would be a lot more accurate if they didn’t introduce the contestants as the best young business minds in the UK. The ones that do well are basically toughish car salesmen types, the ones that probably will end earning good incomes elsewhere are less outgoing. The way those women cat fight with each other is crazy really and not representative of the type of women who do well in busines…I think….

women tend to have longer legs and shorter bodies

They do unfortunately my 5’2″ wife doesn’t so the 14″ ‘surely that must be small enough’ Kona I bought her is a bit on the large side really.

Those that voted for Labour knew that he was likely to take over from Tone so what’s the problem?

you rely on the statements arriving to remind you to pay the card off

If you don’t get a statement then hard to know what to pay – I set up all mine as DD for full amount so no stress.

As an IT consultant my company sends out a company CV for me which is in the 3rd person. I just copy this for sending to agencies if looking for work myself – I’d hope that they’d get me to change it if it was a bad thing.

It does seem harsh to say no-one voted for him. We all knew that the idea was for him to take over from Tone and no-one in Labour seemed keen to get in the way of that so take over he did. All very strange really but hardly a surprise to anyone what happened.

There were before he became PM, when the economy was doing well.

Certainly there were but wondering about now. I do remember many commenting on the increasing amount of debt being built up by people and suggesting that might be a bad thing…curious that….

On the flipside are there many big Brown supporters? Thatcher always had, and continues to have despite the usual tone on here, a lot of support so why’s that? I wonder if Brown isn’t perceived to have done much right? Not saying that’s fair. Things did go well for some years after Labour got in but they were over spending then so what can be expected of them in these times?

Evolution is a proven scientific fact.

Well I’m not sure about that! But then being more of a philosophical bent than a scientific one I tend to have a problem with so called facts….

My own Mother goes to church every single week, sings in the choir every week etc…but if I ask her if she believes in god she just looks at me strangely! Don’t think she has ever even thought about it…it’s just one of her weekly social events!

That would really annoy me! I think her vicar should have a chat….

I’ve spent a lot of time with Christians over the years, the ones that were literal creationists were the only ones I struggled to deal with especially as they tended to have the opinion that if you don’t hold the same views you aren’t a Christian. BTW, I’m a devout agnostic….

Yup my fave ever Grand Designs and worth every penny they spent – assuming your happy living in such an isolated position.

I watched Relocation Relocation as was in Harrogate where I’ve spent sometime working recently. As far as I could see they ended up with a lovely place there. No way I’d have lived in that ex-LA flat in London though! I don’t know why they were so excited about that flat they bought as there must be loads of studios around zone 1/2 that would have suited for £200k. They weren’t that well off though really – making them out to be high flyers seemed to be to give it a theme; I mean chatting to him whilst being measure for a suit was far too contrived for me!

I like the idea of a suspended tables as being able to pull it up out of the way seems a good idea if space is an issue. But some strong anchoring required otherwise swaying will occur which would be problematic….

If the ignorant perceive those in positions of power to support their anti-cyclist views then that helps them feel that they are the norm. Just looked on Facebook and there are loads of anti-cyclist groups there.

    Recognize yourselves?!:

This groups purpose is to express deep hatred in the direction of Lycra wearing road hogging, slow, arrogant scum other wise known as cyclists. We have all been there, on our way to the pub on a nice day, or trying to get somewhere in a hurry, and there in front of you travelling at 10mph in the middle of the road, is a road rat.
There because his wife left him, and he has no personality so unable to socialise elsewhere than next to cat’s eyes and country lanes. When you finally get past them they give you dirty looks, or in one case I experienced verbal abuse because I wouldn’t move over. Well who pays the road tax chum? You’re never going to win the Tour de France mate so get off the road. And the next time any of them call me a **** for driving down the same road I have driven down for 10 years, I will get out my truck and beat them senseless with their own cycle pump.
