Depending on the situation I might look at a creating a materialized view for this if speed is an issue – in Oracle anyway.

A mate of mine has paid this sort of money for advice and was very impressed with what he got. He’s in IT and not overly happy so looking for a change; I’ll see if I can get more info out of him.

Are steel steerers really much cheaper than alu ones? Or is it just a way of giving different options at different price points and doesn’t really reflect the manufacturing costs?

I remove my rotors fairly frequently and never used loctite – never check them and never had a problem.

Would it be wrong to make something out of that skin? Easy to make matching shoes, handbag, gloves and a hat from all that.

i bet it is the company driver who drives each car.

Well there’s that car which they added a wing to – koenigsegg I think – after Stiggy said they should so seems to have been a real Stig then.

I say that the credit crunch was primarily caused by American mortgage lenders and brokers – then spread around much of the world by banks with too much spare cash taking on far too much of that debt. Most of those who took out the loans were financially fairly clueless.

I just don’t think you get as much bike for your money.

    You mean that they’re lighter?!

I low mileage 2nd hand road bike has got to be a safer bet than a 2nd hand mtb. I bought a nice low mileage Lemond Chambery on here a few years ago for 1/2 RRP.

I’ve have a Woolwich Offset account which tracks at 0.49% above Barclays BR – they make life easy for those that can’t be bothered to manage their money as efficiently as possible but for those that can it could be better to get a normal mortgage and pay off lump sums when possible. I’ve paid off mine now but plan to keep it open as it’s access to cheap debt for me.

People should accept responsibility for their actions – too many in society these days rely on someone else to sort out their problems. Too spoilt as kids I suppose….

    Yeah gated communities are appearing.

BTW, organizations like Spear are doing the right sorts of things to deal with the growing underclass.

I gave someone £15 for a taxi to the airport once as he was stranded at my local tube station. A while later he approached me at Waterloo but seemed to recognize me and turned away.

Not sure what to say about Gingerbloke though others think the same way. Can’t slag off the likes of Thatcher and be like that IMO – either we care about society or we don’t.

that goes against what Shelter recommend

Do they recommend giving your cash to them?!

As for the efficiency of Charities – if you give them money with gift aid that will cover the admin loss of the better ones. Though that means less tax for the government and they need every penny these days!

Whatever, the big Charities, and may small ones as well, are better placed to spend your money sensibly if you want to donate some than anyone else. Indeed for most good causes that’s the only way to do it.

Give money to charities as they’ll hopefully use your money more effectively – some are obviously more efficient than others though.

but i have a sister who has never worked since she left school, and also i have a couple of mates who have never worked since leaving school.
these people all have council flats which are paid for by the social/dole/whatever it is called now.
non of them have ever paid a penny into the system, yet they get paid accomodation and whatever else they can claim for.
yet a working man who has gone to work and paid his way cannot get a council property.

    ??????????????????????? WTF

You might find yourself closer to Thatcher’s view on things than you might like to admit…on here anyway…!

I suppose people like you are supposed to rent – go to a cheaper area maybe? Or move into a shared house? Or a caravan or boat?! A mate of mine lived for a few years on a yacht by Canary Wharf – probably quite a bit cheaper to do that when he did it than it is now. Another bought a barge that needed work, did it up and sold it on and bought a bigger barge to do up. Another bought an old tug, ripped out the inside and moored it close to Tower Bridge where he renovated it.

    >ask Lance Armstrong, he’s got great doctors that know all about this

as a point of interest, are you and singletrack aware that writing this sort of thing leaves you both exposed to libel lawsuits?

If he’s not using great doctors then he’s a fool I say.

The law should encourage them to wake up and realise there is no god no heaven and no hell.

What sort of law would that be?!

I’m far from a fan of Brown but selling the gold didn’t seem such a bad idea at the time – maybe selling it off in such a big lump was though and the timing looks rather unfortunate with hindsite…! Opinion was that gold doesn’t give a return so why hold it – better to pay off debt.

On a slight tangent…there was a story years ago that the police used a picture of Nigel Benn for a wanted poster as there was a criminal who looked like him. Unfortunately, based on the poster, someone tried to tackle Nigel Benn and got punched for their trouble.

Some of my friends like it and some don’t; the curious thing is all the ones that like it are the bright ones…. I’ve watched it a rediculous number of times despite enjoying a wide variety of films – need a good script for that; reckon it’s a bit like people who like to read poems despite knowing them well.

She created a generation that became the parents of the chavs

’tis funny really as I’ve heard many suggesting that the problem people we had in the 80s were a result of their parents being part of the hippy culture of the 60s – maybe chavs are like the 2nd generation of that? Possibly….

Would anyone like to suggest what would the UK have been like in the 80s if we hadn’t had Thatcher?
