Great for 6 to 8 year olds!
Pit stop cafe at the entrance serves decent grub at reasonable prices. Theres a pasta place in Lego City thats good value too – avoid the hot dogs stands if you can. The pirate show is fun at Lego City, 3d cinema is good.
Get there early and go straight to Tomb Blaster shooty thing 1st to avoid a long queue- don't get sidetracked q'ing for the rapids river ride on the way in. Might be worth getting a qbot if you need to max your day.
The 2 day pass will take the pressure off if the queues are bad but you'll probably find you can upgrade to a yearly pass for the same sort of money. We have a 70 mile each way journey but have yearly passes (via Tesco clubcard deals) and get there once a month thru the summer. The November firework displays they put on are absolutely stunning too.
If you get a yearly pass and use it 3/4 times its good value – it gets you all sorts of discounts on food and lego. We can feed 3 of us on pasta, fruit and drinks for about a tenner with the pass.

I bought a Studio 15 last year from here Bargaintastic Dells!
They come with 3 year Dell 24hr waranty and it was a great experience allround. Had 1 issue after 6 months and was sorted immediately.
    Well worth a look.

They are definitely OEM or dodgy imports.
I work for the importer and if they were the genuine aftermarket, decent compound ones they won't be making any money selling them for 15quid.

If its 15quid its an OEM version – they are a cheaper rubber compound and nowhere near representative of the full blown version.

Just bought the wireless adapter Saturday (£48 from Game) because i've moved the room around and couldn't get the ethernet cable to the Xbox tidily.
The only difference i've noticed is that when streaming movies from the laptop there is a delay whilst the film 'loads' to the Xbox. This never used to happen with an ethernet connection (it just connected up and started playing the film) usually) but its a only a minor delay – about 20secs – and then it all works ok.
PS it was the cheapest i could find it and i had to convince the guys in the shop to pricematch their website. They tried to say it was the old adapter that was reduced – its not, its the newer one on the site.

Saw them at 1st English gig at the old Marquee with Cliff Burton when Kill em All was released. They were superb.

You can earn a very good wage if you have the right company/area.
Shredder – don't know of much happening around there at the moment, sorry – although i don't work up there so wouldn't be in the loop really.

Where are you looking to work Shredder?
The only reasonable one around at the mo is for Silverfish in SE England.
Capn Flashheart is right – the first thing that happens when they are looking is that a director will call a few known accounts in the area and ask who their best rep is. Much easier/better to poach an existing "face" than it is to take a chance on a newbie with no trade experience. It frequently takes a new guy 12 months to gain trust with dealers whereas a known guy just needs a few days to get going.
You need a lot of luck to get a break into the trade at that level. Try an in house telesales/support role for 12 months and then try to move into the role you really want.
Having said all that, it does happen – i had no experience but knew my way round a bike, had some people skills and had a right place/right time moment with a sales director who took a risk with me.
Its the best job in the world if you can do it – loads of great characters, weirdos, challenges and fun.

I am quite surprised that a good sales development manager has to ask an online forum because he can't find the phone number of some distributors and ask to speak to the sales director/manager!!!!!!

Try a Vangard base layer if you can find them. Not merino but massively good quality MTS Dacron synthetic. You can wash them at 90deg so you kill the bacteria that causes the stink. Used by german police and troops in the gulf wars and seriously unheard of.
    Sizing is normal – get a large if u r a large.
Tested in a Scandinavian Which report on ski base layers and shifted moisture twice as quick as a Helly when measured – and you really notice it.
    Best i've ever used.

Jnr (at age 3) said "b######cks" in front of grandma a few years ago. Fantastic use of the word in the correct context – he couldn't get his lego to stick together or something. Grandma is on oxygen – we nearly lost her that day cos she couldn't breathe for laughing.
We cunningly convinced him that "b######cks" was ok but he was NEVER to say "bother" because that was completely unacceptable. Problem solved.

Rusty Spanner – no offence but i do similar hours (perhaps a bit more in fact) but only get 4 weeks holiday per year. How much holiday does your partner get? Maybe 10 at a guess. How about a part time job in the extra 4/5 weeks or so to finance the holiday?

I am in the same boat re price increases but have significantly less flexibility it appears.

Well guys, thanks for all your contributions – its been a blast!
Will be applying for the time off tomorrow. My mind is eased by so many agreeing he won't be missing too much at this age/time of year. It was what i thought too. We probably won't do it again though as he will be getting deeper into his education.
Commercially we will be about £1k better off, Jnr will benefit by having more outings to museums etc and general life learning opportunities. We will try to get some extra homework out of the school so we can catch up.
I get 2 weeks in the playing in a pool in the sun with a happy family to recharge my batteries instead of a hanging around a soggy campsite trying to tear a bored kiddy of his Nintendo.
    Its all good.

Actually Angela, i am perfectly prepared to invest the time in my little guy to make sure his education is not impaired by the fact that we cannot afford a holiday in term time this year.
If i balance the benefits of spending some close time with him (which i struggle to do during the normal week due to work commitments)against the slowing down of serious work he is doing running up to the holidays its a no brainer.
