    Thanks Plopnofear.
He has saved up his Christmas and birthday money so he can buy it himself (he’s been counting down for the last 4 weeks) so it needs to be from a shop. First big buying experience for the little guy and we’re trying to demo the value of money thing to him. He needs to see his moneybox emptied!!!!!!

Check the sugar contents of SIS against Lucozade – i believe the SIS is lower so gives less of a sugar spike. The Lucozade is a clever marketing spin thats not based on sports science.
Regarding the Rego/milkshake queries – SIS is low fat/much higher protein ratio.

So you asked his advice about a bike for your commute and he suggested a commuting bike as opposed to a road/cx bike?
    A truly heinous crime.

Try Macklin St next to the channel 4 building – pay and display (or by credit card) and probably about £3 per hour. Just off Victoria St and about 2 mins walk from Westminster Cathedral.

Dont use grease – it softens the resin in the post and causes it to bond the post into the frame. Use carbon paste instead.

I have 3 yr old xt shifter pods with my X2 techs. Had to take off shifter windows and the brakes need to be run a long way inboard (compared to my previous Minis) to get the lever in the right place. I found that risers with a bulge on the bend (Truvativs)werent usable – had to change the bars to some Eastons.
TBH they were a bit of a faff compared with all the other Hopes i’ve used but once set up they are good.

Mainly because no one else does either apart from Magura. Untapped market there chief.
Cheers anyway – let me know if you start doing them, from the kind words everyone seems to have about you i’d like to throw some biz your way.

Park at High Beach car park near the green tea hut about 9am on a Sunday and tag along with someone. You’ll never find the rideable trails this time of year without local knowledge.

The bike show at Excel was the bike trade dipping a toe in the water about using it to replace the “London” Bike Show (which is off to Birmingham this year). There are only a few distributors there this week with Madison being the main one. On Thursday – the trade day – there were plenty of the other distribs having a sniff around to check it out and the feel was that there will be a much bigger turnout next year.

Rego is good but dont attempt to drink it until at least 30 mins after you’ve made it. Thats why people say its a bit gritty – it needs to soak in a bit.
Top tip – make it up and pop it in the fridge the night before a ride. If you like something less sweet try the vanilla one.

I was going to call my cat “Bastard” just for the sheer fun of calling him in every night – i was going through a Father Jack phase at the time.
Chickened out and called him Beans in the end. Didn’t quite have the same effect.
    Unfortunately he is now toast.

Thought the 36p increase in fuel tax over the last couple of years was the culprit. Thats INCREASE by the way – it was already extortionate at normal rates.
Interesting how the fuel protests (last ones at about 85p/litre weren’t they?) have been absent.

I’ve got a Pivot Mach 4 DW link bike and have found it to be the best for me so far. I’ve owned most designs over the years (Klein Mantra URT, Haro Extreme single pivot (think Santa Cruz), Trek Fuel linkage activated faux bar, Stumpy four bar and Intense Spider VPP) and am enjoying the Pivot more than any of them so far. Theres no pedal bob, no noticeable pedal feedback and its really plush. You can run crazy sag – had 35% sag today as an experiment and there was no wallowy sogginess pedalling just buttery smoothness. It has an RP23 propedal shock but i’ve never felt the need for the propedal (even honking roads or bridleways) – i believe Pivot specced the RP23 shock because they believe it is the best performing air shock out at the moment regardless of whether you need the propedal function. My previous favourite was the VPP Intense which i thought was pretty special but the Pivot is a yard ahead again.
    Haven’t found any downsides yet.

The £59 jacket is this one Montane Event Venture jacket and it was instore at Harlow, Essex. They had about 3 of each size hanging on the clearance rail. Seems like no one has cottoned on locally yet cos they were there about 2 weeks ago too. I only noticed because i was in the market for one a few months ago, tried one on and found a Rab was a better fit for me. The Montane is quite slim and unfortunately i am not 😥

Bar Six anybody? Alternative Kit Kats in reality
Also those dark choc bars with green crystally stringy mint stuff inside – cant remember the name tho’ – possibly made by Frys.

And an interesting story for you –
My Dad worked for Trebors when they invented Cool mints. We always had a garage full of sweets and the local kids used to pop in regularly to load up. The Cool Mints went down a storm one weekend with them. On Monday at school half the class were missing. Cool Mints now have a warning about the laxative effect if you eat too many.
