Personally I would have preferred to have sat with the women mudmuncher. But I accept that Muslim women might prefer that I didn’t.

I suspect they wouldn’t mind. Their controlling, misogynistic husbands probably would though.

Perhaps someone can explain why the men were at an advantage over the women at that meeting? Or why a meeting packed with apparently Muslim women suggests that the Labour Party isn’t interested in ‘championing women’s rights’ as the OP suggests might be the case?

So what would your thoughts be if the audience had been segregated on race or sexual persuasion? Whites on the left, blacks on the right or heterosexuals on one side, gays and lesbians on the other?

    Typical left wing double standards.

I don’t have any problem with that at all. If a predominately Muslim audience wants men and women sitting in separated groups why would that be a problem?

So, if you’d attended with your misses and were told you couldn’t sit with her you wouldn’t have an issue?

Mr Harman will be in the doghouse I think.

Wow, I didn’t realise Harriet Harman’s fella was one of the key speakers, you couldn’t make it up!

T-cut will definitely get rid of the green paint, just depends on the state of your paint underneath if it looks acceptable, but nothing to lose.

I bought one of those Tcut scratch repair pens a few months ago to get rid if scratches on my misses car and I was pretty impressed. Didn’t totally get rid of them but made them pretty much unnoticeable unless you really got up close.

Exped megamat 10 arrived this afternoon.

Going to try it out tonight.

Will let you know in the morning.

Well I had a pretty good nights sleep last night, not far off in comfort to my home mattress. Not cheap (£140) but worth the extra. 9/10

I bought one of these a few months ago.

Picture is good but it is annoying there is no play/pause button on the player. My kids are always losing the remote so you can’t put a DVD on until you find it.

Other issue is the remote doesn’t have the 1-9 abc/def/ghi type keypad so it can be slow typing things into Iplayer/youtube although you can sync your youtube account to your phone/iPad etc to control the YouTube app.

The rate it goes down I sometimes wonder if I have a leak.

Just found somewhere near newbury that sells 20L containers, cold shower averted!

Had a few bikes, the last being a R1100GS which is an earlier version of the one they used in “long way round”. Had several amazing holidays, riding all round France, Italy and Spain with the misses on the back not knowing where I was going to end up each night.

Much preferred riding on the continent, less traffic, better weather and people more aware of bikers. When kid no.1 came along realised the long trips abroad would end and also my risk threshold changed so I sold it. Still get that longing on a warm sunny day.

If you do get one make sure you get over to France. Many of the A/B roads run parallel to the motorways so are basically deserted.

Put the misses car on gumtree (free) and paid for an ebay classified. Got 4X more enquiries through Gumtree and sold within a week.

Broke my 5th metatarsal (outside of foot) 5 weeks ago. Only really been able to walk properly in the last week, still tender. Think it will be another 2-3 weeks before it is back to normal.

If neat handwriting isn’t needed for the job and it is just a hurdle you need to get over to be considered then just fill it it, but put a note at the beginning apologising for the poor handwriting explaining you broke your finger, sprained hand etc., and you had to write it with your left hand.

Edit – and cross your “broken” fingers they don’t read STW!

Send them back and try another brand.

There is a legal requirement anything sold in EU must comply with EMC regulations and should not interfere with radios etc. some of the cheap Chinese stuff doesn’t comply.

Always found the pen testers work ok, but you should test it in situ while the mains is on to make sure it definitely lights up as it will rely on some leakage to ground (through your body) and depending on the surface/your footwear it may not work.

I’d also recommend rather than just flicking off the relevant fuse/RCD you physically pull it out and put it in your pocket. You don’t want your misses to come home and think it has tripped and flick it back on while you are working on it.

Dbcooper – Just looked and that is Linux only. I guess the calcs to do it properly would be pretty complex

Jota180 – A large area of of it is flat roof, so would need doing properly to avoid leaks – think it is probably around 25m^2

    Thanks for the tips.

Set up disposable email then signed up with faxonline.co.uk. I have no idea if the insurance company received my fax, but expect they will ignore it anyway.

As mentioned I saw the NHS trainee guy a few hours ago and he thinks I don’t need a root canal (contradicting what the private guy said).

He thinks it is a tooth crack and has ground my tooth down a bit which might alleviate the symptoms. If not he will crown it but leave the root alone, if that doesn’t work and I end up needing a root canal I could always have this done privately I guess – or let him do it if he doesn’t drill through the side of my face fitting the crown!

If anything I’ve lost confidence in the private guy now as I was a already a bit suspicious if I really needed the root taking out as it only hurt on biting hard things.

Perthmtb – ouch, I’d be avoiding all dentists after that!

Just got back from seeing the NHS guy, was actually quite impressed. He thought I didn’t need a root canal and I most likely had cracked cusp syndrome (invisible hairline crack causing pain when biting). He ground the pointy buts off my tooth and said that might cure it and see how I got on. If I still have problems he would have to crown it (but leave the root alone). If this still didn’t settle they would do a root canal through the crown.

I like the conservative approach rather than jumping straight into a RC that the private guy was suggesting. I guess the problem with NHS vs. Private is there is a risk of over treatment privately and under treatment through the NHS.

Current felt is just one layer (no underlay), but looks like it has been heat sealed on.

Would I get best results trying to nail the old felt back on (to give a kind of underlay) then glue on top new felt or discard the old felt, cut back to a clean line in the undamaged felt then just stick direct to the roof boards?

    Thanks Project,

I believe there are areas of Luton
ie. I’ve never been or seen it but Barry down the pub told me…

Ha, ha, close, it was “Barry” at work who went to Luton recently to watch the football and asked a copper where the pubs were who laughed and told him it was a sharia zone and there were no pubs in the center – probably should google this to check this is true.

As a Muslim born and bred in this country Ime really puzzled about this sharia law claim.please elaborate and give examples of sharia law active in the UK.

I believe there are areas of Luton where there are signs on the lamp posts saying this is a Sharia law zone and is effectively controlled as such.

Thanks, will look into this a bit more. The Humax I have has always had lip sync issues in HD with my LG TV with Humax blaming LG and LG blaming Humax, hence the reason I thought it would be good to get it all built in.

I dont think this is possible but would also be very interested if anyone has worked it out!

You have to download apps under the main account then enable them in the child settings so they can be seen under the restricted account. Had some issues with them running ok under the main account but crashing in my daughters login. Seems you have to run them a few times in the main account before they work properly in the restricted account.

I agree it isn’t going to be as intuitive as my ipad that I’m used to. That aside it seems more buggy – some of the games didn’t work when I installed them. When I’m entering text in some of the fields, the field is partially obscured. the “Play Games” icon starting working initially, stopped working then after setting it up from scratch is ok again.

GeoffJ – You might want to set it up tonight to save disappointment tomorrow. I had to update to the latest version of software and on my slow internet it took over an hour.

Deleting the profile and starting again seemed to cure it. First time on a Android device and it seems a lot more buggy than my ipad. Hope I don’t end up spending all day on Christmas sorting the flippin thing out

Think I sussed it, can go to users in settings after installed then enable it.

One strange thing is the “Play Games” icon in her profile no longer works – comes up with “Error. This application does not support accounts for restricted profiles”. Is that correct or has something gone wrong. Seemed to work to start with?

Did anyone find out if it is possible to lock down a HUDL to specific websites I enter as acceptable?

I just found I can do this in my iPad in the restriction settings.

I guess this could be possible using openDNS as mentioned above but I don’t want to restrict my iPad to CBeebies too!

Just bought my 9yr old a hudl2 & I can’t put it down ,for the £,they’re amazing & yes the safety features for kids are great !,better wrap it back up & send it to the elves !..

Is it possible to set a list of websites it is restricted to or is there just a general “dodgy stuff” blocker

Had exactly the same thing. Ergon grips improved it a bit but was only cured when I fitted some On One carbon OG swept bars. A real steal for £30, they’ve now gone up to £40 but still cheap.

They also have alloy ones for only £15 if you just want to try them out

    1. Lumpini night market – quite large and used to have bands playing some nights
    2. Jim Thompson’s house – Tourist favourite.
    3. Get a boat up the river to Ayutthaya (original capital of Thailand) – used to leave from the sangria-la hotel and included lunch.
    4. Reclining Budha – can’t remember the name of the temple but near the palace
    5. Chatuchuk day market
    6. Curry at mrs Balbirs (Indian celeb chef famous in Thailand)
    7. Taxi to “The Ancient City” which is large theme park with copies of many temples. Better than it sounds and the best bit is you can hire bikes and cycle round
    8. Dinner or drinks from the top floor of the Banyan Tree hotel for a panoramic view of Bangkok.
    9. Brown Sugar jazz bar used to be good if you like a bit of live jazz.

Should be ok if he has mastered the brakes.

Nothing too steep but he could run up to quite a fast speed if he didn’t know to use the brakes.

Plenty of fire roads to ride on too.
