Common and not normally anything to worry about. They often fade with time. Unless the enamel is pitted or cavitated it’s unlikely there’ll be any long term problem. Toothpaste/chewing gum will not be any help.

Often caused by excess fluoride (using adult toothpaste as a child for example, or living somewhere like Hartlepool where there is loads of Fluoride naturally in the water) or illness/medication at the time the tooth was forming (around birth).

    Good to know, thanks.

Will also get the dentist to give them the once over.

Other causes can be high Fluoride or calcium, it can cause long term damage. Better off seeing a dentist to check

I read about the high fluoride – seems strange as one of the treatments to try and remineralise teeth with white spots is for the dentist to apply very high concentration fluoride gel.

I’ve got them, and in 30, ao no they don’t go away. Apparently calpol was blamed.

Ignore it and she won’t notice it’s there, if you make a big deal of it then she’ll pick up on that.

Thanks, do you need to take any extra precautions with what you eat – acidic foods etc? I’m assuming they will be more susceptible to cavities if the enamel is damaged?

Have a Mk1. Can also highly recommend. The HD video and sound quality is very good.

Replaced a 32″ Sony HD with a 40″ Samsung 4K and all I can say is the picture is much better, whether this is just because it is a better panel or if it is to do with the extra resolution I’m not sure, but they are pretty cheap now so would take the plunge. There is also 4K content on YouTube and the 4K also comes in if you want to display photos from your camera on the tv.

Not had a tempory crown yet, that will be done this coming week. Fingers crossed it will settle down.

    Thanks guys,

It would be chain free if I could stump up the cash straight away and I think I’d get it for a better price and secure the sale rather than having to wait to sell mine.

I could cover the mortgage if I didn’t sell mine especially considering my misses will get a job when we move and the extra bonuses I get (typically 30% of my salary), I’m not that far away from the max they would lend just based on my basic salary.

Called London and country and they were pushing towards a bridging loan, I think the issue is mortgage companies don’t really want people to take out a big lucrative mortgage then pay 90% of it off after 3-4 months as they are working on the basis you’ll pay them lots of interest for the next 25 years.

Looks like I’ll probably have to sell mine first, but a bit of a risk I’ll lose the house I’m after.

Remortgage current house and buy other one with cash?

Thanks for the tip, will look into this, would need to remortgage my current house for 20% higher than its actual value for this to work, so not sure if they would do that?

A very sad day, grew up listening to Motörhead.

Certainly packed a lot more into his life than most could dream of.

forgot to mention, one of the best features of the rx100 is you can tilt the flash back with your finger and bounce off the ceiling.

Never normally like the unnatural results on compacts with a fixed flash but when you bounce off the ceiling you can’t even tell the flash has been used. Don’t think there is another compact on the market that can do this and very surprised Sony don’t even mention it in their blurb. Also has flash comp setting so you can tone the flash down even further.

Although there is also the Panasonic LX7, which sounds good in the review I’ve just read.

That was also on my shortlist, but when I saw it in the flesh it is quite a bit bulkier than the rx100, so depends how important pocketability is to you.

Got mine from John Lewis 6 months ago – notice they are still doing a great price and £30 cash back + you get 2yr guarantee, might work out better than Amazon.

    Also have RX100 mk1.

Really pleased with it. The video recording is also excellent, better than the dedicated video cam I have.

You can do a camera search on Flickr for any camera model to get an idea of the image quality.

Edit- noticed you want to do landscapes. RX100 only goes down to 28mm equivalent length, which is pretty standard, however 24mm or lower would be nice for landscapes, but not sure if there is anything about with that focal length similar size and price to the RX100 with the 1″ sensor.

I know someone how did this a few years ago and got the max tariff, however back then he paid £12k and I think typical installations have dropped to around £5k, so I think it is right the tariffs should come down.

Got this from john Lewis a few months ago. They price matched sonic direct at £499.

Awesome picture, 4K and has both freesat and freeview (using it with freesat)

Had some lip sync issues initially but latest firmware has fixed it.

    Take the driver back.

If you got a proper constant current driver then it should not be possible to overload it. If your LED string voltage was too high for the driver it might flash on and off as the over voltage protection is triggered however LEDs forward voltage drops as they heat up so if this was the cause I’d expect it to flash on and off when cold but stop or reduce as it heats up. The opposite of what is happening in your situation.

The type of fault you have would not have been picked up at final test when manufactured.

Also used House Network, very impressed with the photos which were a lot better than some of the local agents. I work from home so showing people around no issue, but as it turned out all viewing requests were for the weekend. Very easy to change the listing, photos etc., had half a dozen viewings in 3 weeks but now temporarily taken it off the market for various reasons but can get it back on Rightmove at the click of a button whenever I want.

The only downside vs a high street agent is the feedback you get after viewings isn’t that great and they don’t have the same financial incentive to sell. I get the impression that when a viewer expresses any concerns or objections as to why they may not want to proceed they just make a note of this in the feedback notes rather than trying to overcome these objections which is where a high street agent scores.

I got mine (Lyte ELT330) from Midland ladders which are a bit cheaper than the link above.

    http://www.midlandladders.com/catalog/LYTE_Trade_Ladders-152-1.html

Someone my dad knows fell off his wobbly ladders and got compound fractures in both legs (bones through the skin).

I’d rather pay a bit extra!

I bought some 3 section ABRA ladders from b+q earlier in the year. They scared the sh*t out of me. Narrow and wobbled like hell.

I took them back and bought some Lyte trade ladders online which were an extra £40 but were much more stable and money well spent in my opinion.

    Thanks for the tips everyone.

Robdob – The online viewing booking sounds a bit of a faff from a buyers perspective. If I see a house on Rightmove I just want to phone the agent and set a time to view rather than having to setup an account, username, password etc. with an online agency.

Anyone prospective purchasers have a view on whether they would rather be shown around by an agent or the homeowner? Personally I’d prefer the homeowner but my misses would prefer an agent.

Mikey- not near Yorks, I think the problem with estate agents is they have to pay a lot for their premises and in today’s online world I’m not convinced it is worth an extra 4K just to get your house in the window.

Robdob, sounds good. I guess my only concern with online is are they going to be that bothered about getting you a sale once you have paid the fee. Paying 4K extra for a HS agent is annoying but if they get you an extra £5K for your house you are ahead. Did you get any feedback from your viewers? I’d worry about their motivation to pass on enquiries etc.

The Carolina opening is huge, bigger than most other kayaks which is one of the reasons I went for it. I didn’t like the idea if getting stuck if I capsized. It is very easy to get in and out of.

Have a Carolina 14 which is great.

The 14 will be faster and a bit more efficient than the 12′ if you have room to store it.

    Actually had this last night.
    One of my signature dishes

    Gets the spuds on….,

7-8 mins before they are ready

Fry corned beef in a bit of butter for 5 mins
    Crumble in veg stock cube
    Few squirts tomato purée
Add large chopped onion and cook for another 2-3 mins
Use more onion than you think looks right and only lightly cook so it is still firm – this adds a nice texture to the final dish.

Pour beef into a oven dish.
    mash spuds with milk+butter
    Cover beef with mash

Grate 1/2 block cheddar and cover potato
    Oven for 30mins

Serve with loads of brown sauce.

Get that too sometimes, usually after I’ve been pushing myself hard then slow down or stop. Doesn’t seem to do it during the high exertion period which I think would be more concerning.

It is almost like a car that backfires on the overrun when you lift the throttle.

I see you deleted you previous post Ernie?

For the record you accused me of being a bigot and implied I was unintelligent for being concerned about Ed’s Islamophobia law.

Was it because I posted the link showing my concerns were valid you deleted your post?

    A bit sneaky Ernie!

I think there are grounds to be concerned.

And I don’t appreciate your bigotry towards atheists

but that you are just one more tedious EDL type Muslim-hater.

That is pretty much the stock mudslinging lefty retort people of your ilk come back with when you have no intelligent answers to my genuine concerns.

For the record, I think Christians are just as deluded as Muslims.
…And I’m not in the EDL
    …And I don’t hate anyone

You have no issues with the gender segregation at all?

No of course not, why would I? If the Muslim community wants to organise a political meeting/rally…..

Wrong – It was a labour meeting for that constituency organised by a Labour councillor.

ernie_lynch – Member, and the women and men decide that they would rather sit separately then it’s completely up to them as far as I’m concerned, it has nothing to do with me.

It was on the poster that there was a “woman’s section”, not sure they had much choice in the matter

If you’d been living in that constituency and wanted to attend with your misses you would have been separated.

…And why do we have to always assume that anyone of an Asian/Pakistani background is a muslim? There are more educated Pakistanis who think religion and Islam is a load BS.

    ernie_lynch – Member
I think it’s a real cheek to tell other people how to live their lives and quite frankly none of anyone elses business.

Couldn’t agree more – can’t stand religious loonys telling me what to think, where to sit etc.

As an atheist it concerns me Labour will drag our progressive society backwards with more faith schools pedaling this nonsense and more acceptance of this outdated religious dogma. We should be challenging their beliefs and trying to bring them into the 21st century not encouraging this. Ultimately if people want to believe in fairies, God, father Christmas or whatever that’s up to them but we should draw the line when they start imposing their crazy beliefs on others.

Of course if Ed gets in he said he is going to criminalise Islamaphobia so after Thursday we might not be able to have these discussions anymore.

    Nice anecdote thanks for sharing

Not a nice anecdote at all and I still feel guilty 20 years on that I couldn’t/didn’t do anything

How do you feel about toilets segregating on gender?

A lot of them don’t, usually only the ones with urinals for obvious reasons.

    mudmuncher
    Full Member

Ernie – you have dodged my main question, so I’ll put it to you again….

So what would your thoughts be if the audience had been segregated on race or sexual persuasion?

Whites on the left, blacks on the right

    Is that OK?

or heterosexuals on one side, gays and lesbians on the other?

    Or that?

    Thought not.

    Junkyard – lazarus
Their controlling, misogynistic husbands probably would though
Ah the scholars of Islam are in the house then

I wouldn’t claim or want to be a scholar of Islam, but I did have a good friend at university that sadly never made it back for her second year after going back to Pakistan for what she thought was a friend’s wedding only to find out it was her own forced marriage.
