Got some Merrell proterra. Had them a few years now, lasting really well and great for summer.

Was also looking at the Spank vibrocore oozy 760. One review on CRC said they broke within an hour, put me off a bit.

I built 401’s onto pro 2 evo’s using this one:

    http://www.prowheelbuilder.com/spokelengthcalculator

It didn’t take into the account that squorx nipples seem to have more of the threaded part inside the rim. (Maybe dt swiss’s calculator takes this into account?)So the spokes were too short, I used standard brass nipples and it was spot on.

Made a squorx driver from a disc rotor bolt and a piece of dowel.

Got mine from simply bearings. Bought the non standard bearing they use from eBay.

I also bought the press tools so if you’re based in London feel free to borrow them. Still waiting to use the rear set, bearing refuse to wear out.

It’s so frustrating, had almost 3 months of watching bike videos and had to cancel a biking trip. You have to give your body time to recover though. I was given the go ahead to go back to the hardtail by the Pilates teacher. I’m gonna stretch a lot and try and strengthen my core muscles. I never want to go back to how I was before.

I went back to Swinley yesterday and took the Turner flux again. Although it’s very outdated and unfashionable it is great for the flat but undulating terrain there. Managed to do the red, feel tired today but don’t think I’ve made the Sciatica worse. I’ll take the Switchback next time and see how I feel. If I’d have herniated my disc before buying the Stanton I’d have definitely gone down the full suspension route. Unfortunately it’s a Mk1 so no room for big tyres out back. Anyway, I’ve come a long way from having to hold on to furniture and door frames to move around.

I did mine on 2nd March. Finally managed to get a referral to physio on 12th June. They don’t seem to want to give me an MRI. I’m able to do most things now but been warned off mountain biking. I went to Swinley last week, I managed to get around the blue. Normally I do the red with no problem but I felt too unfit and uncomfortable to attempt it. I went on my old Turner flux as I thought full suspension would be better for my back. I have recently bought a Stanton Switchback ti but wondering now if I should go back to full sun. Aeris 120 or 145?? :)

Friend had this problem recently. We gave up and went to Brixton cycles. They first tried with a pump that stores the air which didn’t work. They then pumped up this Schwalbe air canister thing which worked first time. It was a 2.6 NN, so needed a lot of air. The sidewall seemed really stiff and not really sitting very well in the rim.

There is a video about the pro 4 hub. I’m sure they mention making the rachet ring bigger and then as a consequence had to make other parts bigger.

I’ve been using them for a while now on my courier bike in 25c size. I think they have a good balance of weight and puncture protection.

These are basically Durano Plus tyres with a tread

Thought the blue layer was thicker on Marathon plus?

I’ve got 401’s, only 22.5 internal width. DT Swiss say they are ok on up to 2.4″, 30mm should be fine.

Been seeing this thread for years and just decided to see what was so stupid about the question. Can’t believe it’s been kept alive after 7 years. I might read page 2 in another 7 years

I tried to put one on a mates bike yesterday, Pacestar 2.6.

Had to take it to the bike shop in the end use one of those Shwalbe air canister things. We put a 2.35 magic mary on the front which went straight up with my track pump.

To me it looked quite similar in size to the MM. I was expecting it to look a lot bigger. His rims are 25mm internal.

Because we don’t sell them to Saudi Arabia and make billions so they are obviously really bad.

How much was the private endocrinologist? The doctors refuse to refer her to one.

My girlfriend has Hashimoto’s. She had it for ages before being diagnosed.

She changed her diet and has been able to keep the medicine to half a tablet of Levothyroxine(25microgram) every 2 days.

Thanks for the advice again. Over the weekend I’ll contact a person I haven’t seen for a few years. I heard she does acupuncture. Might be worth a try. I have just read the whole sciatica driving me mad thread. Got worried as I had trouble peeing and it did say call 999. Everything is still working though. Really hope I get seen by this musculoskeletal physio soon.

Quick update. I’m no better. Doctor referred me to a consultant muscular skeletal physiotherapist.

I had three Pilates sessions and he said there isn’t much more he can do until I improve. Was really hoping he’d sort me out.

Already worried that my summer is gonna be ruined. Mate sending me riding picks from Tenerife doesn’t help.

A dislike for the EU bureaucratic system has nothing to do with the EU people.

It certainly doesn’t look like that from the perspective of a lot of my European friends. They feel unwanted and have been left in limbo for months. Some of them have been insulted. Because of this I will never accept brexit (I would actually like to, being angry for 9 months can’t be healthy).

I’m not gonna google Marie Claude Bourbonnais, I can probably work out how she looks.

Not sure how simple it is to service my Hope pro 2 evo rear hub bearings. Got 3 sets and not been able to kill any of them. Bought the tools last year but only needed the front presses. I did break some pawl springs. In this respect the star ratchet system looks more reliable.

Got similar problem with my 30.9 thomson dropper in 31.6 ti frame+ stupid shim. Keeps slipping even with carbon grip paste and with it feeling really tight in the frame. Bought a hope seat clamp and tightened to 6nm, if that doesn’t work will have to get a new post.

Big long uppy downy thing with a large human bouncing up down on it that gets sprayed in mud and grit – something has to give.

Only reason I bought a rear mudhugger. Now all the mud and grit goes on my drivetrain.

Went for dt swiss 401’s which are 22.5mm internal, said wide enough for 2.4 tyres. All this talk of wider made me start to think about 481’s. Looks like I’m stuck with them for now as I never see any 481’s cheap enough, especially 28h. So Tiramisu or cheesecake for me thanks.

[/quote]At the moment I’m hoping it cures itself over time as I’ve heard too many bad stories about spinal surgery. Apparently the body can reabsorb the jelly which is released from the disc when it bursts. It’s this jelly that’s irritating my sciatic nerve

Is this permanent damage? If you lose some of the contents from the disc do you end up shorter?

Thanks for all the advise. I’ve got codeine and naproxen. I also decided to get drunk last night which was probably a bad idea.

I’m off to a Pilates place tomorrow for an assessment. Might try to find a good physio too. Walking seems to help a bit. I really hope it’s not a disc problem.

Also buy a very expensive new bike in anticipation of recovery…

    I bought some Ti bolts.

    What job were you doing?

How long did it take to go away?

I’m a cycle courier, been doing it for 8 1/2 years. Have had back ache and some pain in my leg for the last few weeks. Last Thursday had to carry a lot of heavy legal files. Friday morning could hardly get out of bed.

Have a 1L Micra, it’s been really reliable with my rubbish driving. Would like something a bit more powerful though. But will probably just drive it until it dies, I gave up on life a long time ago.

Arrived in Mexico a few years ago. Took out some money but walked off without the card as money comes out first there. Had to spend the next few weeks borrowing money or not buying anything. I left money in Tesco Brixton’s cash machine, a lady gave it back to me in the supermarket.
