I don’t know where to buy a new air spring for my 34’s costing £149.95 or use the money to buy a new fork.

Wonder what the availability of spares is like for these?

What about attaching a mudhugger to them?

My current main bike (a hardtail) weighs just over 26lbs, think I would notice 8lbs. Maybe 150mm of cushioning would compensate.

Was looking at Bird Aeris’, couldn’t find frame weights for the 120 or 145 either. They could put it on the technical data sheet, the zero tr’s weight is on it.

Been wanting to increase the travel on my 2014 34’s by 10mm since January. Was quoted £10.82+PP for a shuttle bumper and a negative plate. One of the parts wasn’t in stock, I mentioned this but I didn’t get a reply. I couldn’t find the part anywhere, so gave up looking.

Recently I started looking for a new air spring as a way of upgrading and increasing the travel. Didn’t know where to get one from. Silverfish seem to have it but why the massive disparity in prices?

    2016 onwards is £40
    2013-15 is £147

Will be buying Rockshox next time.

A mate is selling a medium bird zero am frame in orange. He’s had it since January.

I read that some grease can cause seals to swell. I’ve always used normal grease around the wiper seals too. I want to swap the air spring in my 34’s (if I ever find the upgrade air spring) so want to do it properly.

I’ve got a massive tub of superdrug vitamin E all over body cream that I’ll never get through. Maybe I can use that? It’s quite slippery.

Bikegoo are out of stock too. I already tried super alloy racing, went to checkout the price had mysteriously more than doubled.

Guess you’re right. Found Stendec easy glide at bike goo, might just buy that.

    Anyone running the 10spd version.

Mine is the 10 speed, works great.

Had seapost slippage and people mentioned a Thomson clamp. Apparently they create more gripping force with less torque. Not really sure how. In the end I tightened my clamp bolt more than I felt really happy with.

Quite often got the job of rescuing them from friends who are too scared to even look.

Get very disappointed with people who say they care about animals but are quite happy to kill spiders. My neighbour used to poor bleach on them, evil Woman. She said they made her physically sick.

Looked after a friends Tarantula once, I still want one.

Works great for me. Xt 11 speed medium cage rear mech. Sunrace 10 speed 11-46 and xtr shifter.

I decided to get an 11 speed mech as the xt 10 speed mech with a rad cage was struggling a bit and didn’t want to mess about with the b tension screw too much. Perfect shifting now.

Ex girlfriend bought me a round squashy thing 20 odd years ago. It’s called a mudmonster and is supposed to relieve stress. Biking relieves stress better though and now and again I get covered in mud.

You just can’t kill someone due to your own lack of care and expect to get off lightly.

Not on a bike you can’t.

Lower ones have the most risk for getting a dry socket. The other 3 I had out were fine I didn’t even know what a dry socket was so didn’t worry about it.

The pain is a dull strong ache, sometimes was so strong I started to panic as painkillers didn’t seem to help.

Today I woke up without pain, think I’m finally over the hill.

Update: Went to the hospital emergency dentist last week. They cleaned it out and put paste it the socket. Pain was gone until the evening. The pain is maybe getting slightly less but I’m still taking strong painkillers that are wiping me out a bit. Thanks for the advice.

I did read that if you have the socket packed out it slows healing as the body considers it an alien object?

My girlfriend called the dentist and he advised me to get some antibiotics. Didn’t have much luck with trying to get a quick dentist appointment. At the moment I’m coping and trying to deal with the pain. I can sleep which is the main thing for me. The pain can be pretty excruciating but it’s not constant. It’s only temporary pain, some people have to live with it constantly.

Seen the 11-46 cassettes on eBay. So much cheaper than what I paid, oh well.

So just to clarify, in order to get the Sunrace 11-46 to work I would also need to get a medium cage XT M8000 derailleur which I understand is 11 speed? I have a 10 speed XTR shifter.

I couldn’t get my old xt rear mech to work with a rad cage very well. I could have bought a longer b tension screw but I decided to just buy an m8000 rear mech. Works great now.

If you don’t mind me asking where have you sourced the 10spd 11-46 cassette?

I got my local bike shop (Brixton cycles) to order one. Guess you need to find a bike shop that deals with Ison Distribution.

I bought a Mudhugger FR after getting a face full of mud and god knows what else on a winter ride using a Enduro guard. My mate has the shorter version and I’m sure it’s very effective too. I ended up buying a rear, mainly to keep mud off the dropper.

So I should expect even more pain in about 3 days. Starting to wish I’d never bothered to get it removed.

I’ve had the other 3 out over the years and never had any trouble.

When I had mine out (20yrs ago) I was advised if I washed a clot off the put something in the gap and bite on it to make it bleed and form a new clot.

    Should I do this?

I had it removed in Poland so bit of a problem to see the dentist who did it. I started to chew on a clove as I heard it was good for pain. I could feel what I thought was some clove stuck in the socket. managed to get it out and I think it was the clot (a spongy brownish yellow cone) So now totally screwed myself.

Remove the the little black plastic washer/spacer thingy. You can then wind the b screw into the mech body.

It does look like the mech is angled up a bit, or maybe it’s just the angle of the photo. I didn’t need to touch the b screw when I fitted a rad cage.

Was working as a courier for 8 years in London (with 2 disc brakes). I don’t know how the couriers that ride fixed without a front brake do it. But they seem to manage and ride very fast.

I did hit a woman once who walked out on her phone from a crowd waiting to cross. There was not even time to think about braking, if I’d have hurt her I would have still felt terrible though. As it happened she was fine and I had concussion.

I just ordered a Suntour 11-46, 10 speed cassette. Staying with 10 speed Shimano for the time being.

Was just about to get Shimano xt 11 speed, think I’ll have a think about it now. Know nothing about sram and it seems quite expensive.

Mine arrived today, fit like a pair of (very orange) slippers. Went for 46 I’m normally 45.

Was wondering what the frame weight difference is between the 120 and the 145?

    mudmonster

Kind of tempted, they’ll look less lurid with a bit of wear. But 45 or 46? I never know with Shimano.

    Went for 46. Cheers OP

Problem with the exotic clamp is that they don’t do 34.9 to 30.9. I think I’ll go for the nipping it until it bind (or my seat clamp bolt snaps) method. Thanks
