Makes trillion prime welding look neat

Think it’s okay, apart from a stop/start on the head tube is quite pronounced.

I went from a 42t expander to an 11-46 Sunrace cassette. My 10 speed derailleur with a RadR cage fitted was at it’s limit. Bought an 11 speed GS rear mech and now it works great.

I also went down to a 30t oval chainring.

Think I’ll keep this setup until my shifter breaks and then go 1×13 or whatever we’ll be at then.

Been trying to decide on this myself.

Got dt swiss 401 rims now, 22.5 internal. Thought about going up to xm 421’s 25mm internal. Then started to wonder if going too the effort and cost of rebuilding my wheels for 2.5mm extra width was worth it.

Now thinking about 481’s. Did consider Stan’s Arch mk3 but read a few things about durability which put me off.

I’m quite happy with 2.3-2.4 tyres.

I’ve a a few sweaty moments with my Hope cranks. One time I forgot to put the bottom bracket bearing cover on which meant I ran out of thread before the pre load nut could push off a crank arm. Had to put stuff in-between the crank on the other side to create something for it to push on.

    This is really sad.

I did notice that it looks like CRC being wound down.

What a shame for the staff.

Thanks for the replies. It’s not my main bike anymore so don’t wanna spend much on it really. I thought I would try and keep it going and tried to upgrade it, regret spending money on it now. It’s perfectly rideable.

I herniated a disc just over a year ago. I did some self diagnosis which was confirmed by a doctor. The doctor gave me painkillers and told me to come back in 3 weeks if it was not better. They only seem to care about Cauda Equina syndrome. Was not referred to physio even though I could hardly walk and was in a lot of pain.

After seeing 3 doctors with no help I started to go to Pilates. My muscles had locked up around the herniation which he worked to loosen up. It took about 7 weeks before I could walk properly. He told me not to mountain bike for longer though. What research I did seemed to say that the outer shell of the disc takes a long time to heal.

My back went again in December, was putting up some shelves and one was quite heavy. Got referred to physio straight away. This time I’ve been keeping up with the exercises. I sold my hardtail and bought a full suspension (not sure if I really needed to do it but thought it would reduce the jarring on my back).

I’m still getting some Sciatica, I just have to try and keep up the exercise and hope it will eventually go away.

Bought steel spring washers on eBay with 10mm internal diameter. Fitted them on the inside of my xt cranks, the chain was dead center of my chain guide. This was with 1×10.

Bought a Panasonic bread maker primarily to cut out evil Palm oil.

A mate said I’d use it a couple of times an then never use it again. Used it 3 times a week for the last 1 1/2 years. Have made good bread and terrible bread. When I’m not lazy and follow the instructions it tends to come out pretty good.

I’m sure it works out a lot cheaper.

Went to visit a friend in Leeds sometime in the 90’s. Memory is a bit hazy but ended up at a house where someone was giving away loads of Motorhead posters. Lots of them were signed. I didn’t take the signed ones as my punk way of thinking at the time didn’t agree with rock star things like signed merch, duh. Still have lots of the posters, did give a few away. They are all from the classic line up so I’m assuming all the signatures were from that era too. Wish I had a big enough flat to put them all up.

Got into them around 1984 so already missed out on seeing them live with this line up. They did some good stuff with other line ups, this was the definitive line up for me though. Every LP full of great songs.

Wonder what Another Perfect day would have sounded like with Eddie on guitar?

Got a 2009 Turner Flux hanging on my wall, thought about selling it but for amount of money I’ve thrown at it it wouldn’t be worth it. Ride it now and again and still like it.

Did a tour of Mexico in 2016. Some of the tequila had been aged, tasted and looked like whisky.

Did a pub crawl on our day off drank massive shots of mezcal instead of beer. It didn’t end well.

Just want to point out that MRI machines don’t use ionizing radiation to produce the images, its magnetic resonance imaging, you are thinking of CT Scans that use x-rays to produce the images.

I did wonder when I read that. Already had 3 x-rays on my back in Poland and 2 on my head with a wisdom tooth extraction. Don’t need any more radiation this year.

Thanks for great advice. Just got a phone call saying I can see a physio tonight.

If you have all these symptoms and your GP is still ignoring your needs – its telling you something, change GP !

I seem to see a different one every time I go to the medical centre. Back in March the first few told me to take painkillers and go away. Third one finally referred me to physio.

Also using crutches could be causing you more damage, has anyone medical told you to use them ???

I will call the doctor to find out.

As I said 8 months ago DO NOT GO TO AN OSTEOPATH at this stage.

One mate won’t stop going on about seeing an Osteopath. Lots of people are telling me to go to different places. I did take this advice and have not seen one. I will take the advice of the musceloskeletal physio. Pilates helped the last time even though lots of friends said I was wasting my money there.

Ive been where you are as have many posters, and your thought process can get messed up with the pain, do you work ? Is your job physical ? do you drive ? what can you change right now ?

Was working a cycle messenger until March when it happened the first time. Eight years of carrying heavy stuff on my back was probably the cause. I don’t think I could safely drive right now to be honest. Will do the gentle exercises I’ve been given and just hope. Cheapest private MRI I found was a place on Upper Wimpole St I think.

And as I said above, next time before you start biking again, make sure to sort out your core strength! (I’m assuming you didn’t bother).

I have been doing them, obviously not enough though :(

Buy one less bike part and sort your back out

    Are you serious?

Really don’t know what to do. A mate insists that it’s ‘tms’, he read a book by John E Sarno and it worked for him. He had pain moving around his body though. My girlfriend is reading the book and now says I’ve got ms as well.
I’m extremely frustrated, can’t even put up shelves without seriously injuring myself.

I’ve just called my doctors to find out when my visit to the musculoskeletal Physio is. It’s on the 18th, very happy I don’t have to wait until after xmas.

If they refuse an MRI this time I’ll just pay.

Can’t really stand up today without huge pain, crutches are a big help.

I think I would have only got an MRI if I had cauda equina syndrome. The doctor said I should get one this time as it’s happened again.
I’m off to borrow some crutches today.

I was asking for an MRI for months. They wouldn’t give one unless I was in danger of ending up permanently disabled. The doctor said on Saturday I might get one this time. How does the steroid injection work?

Well it’s gone again. Was starting to feel like I was better although still was getting light Sciatica now and again. Always had the nagging fear of it going to go wrong again. Had to cancel a trip to bike park wales and just bought a new fork :(

Put up some shelves this week and my back was killing me. Was hoping it was just muscle but now now I’m back to limping around again.

Starting to think about lumbar fusion but will see what the physiotherapist says. Hope I won’t have to wait too long. Guess I’m stuck with it for the rest of my life.

Any new owners should drop the lowers to grease the seals and check/replace oil, mine were completely dry. They’re buttery smooth now.

Good to know, might do it tomorrow. Was thinking about lowering them to 150mm anyway. At the same time will be able to see if the cassette tool is the right size.

Swapped around the spacers in the IVA, 3 above the seal now. They feel so plush, can’t believe they are not even bedded in.

Is there supposed to be visible oil on top of the air spring? Can only see Slickoleum grease on top of the piston.

I also finally cracked and ordered some and the tool kit.

I tested the 2 zip ties around the leg method for the mudhugger with my old fork and it seemed solid enough. Not as rock solid as with ties also around the arch though.

Being delivered by Yodel, I hope they arrive ok.

Good choice, I’ve been resisting buying the Mattocs for weeks now. Wish they’d just sell out so I could stop thinking about them.

Been reading as much info as I can on these, still undecided.

I read some comments about having to over tighten the stem clamp bolts to hold the steerer?

It seems that the IRT kit makes a lot of difference to the fork. The tool kit is also another £40 to factor in.
