I recon what we have here is a christian western world problem .
What I mean is christians are always searching for heaven which is basically a perfect place with no problems , if you see what I mean !?
Where as your buddhist (as delboy would say) is after enlightenment , or a way to rise above his problems
much of our way of thinking comes from christian based thinking/teaching in this country doesnt it ? ? ?

living in the moment with no thoughts of past or future is a big part of what adults crave isnt it?
we do it automatically when we are kids then crave it again once we forget how.
Drink ,drugs ,driving fast , reading a good book or riding a bike all keep us in the moment enjoying what we are doing for what it is and the feeling it brings .
Its when our thoughts get stuck in whats gone wrong in the past or whats bleak about the future that the drink ,drugs ,bike riding etc stop giving us the in the moment feeling that playing as a kid gave us.
or have i just been reading that middle section in the paper too much?

If you clamp a hand saw and rotate the dowel over the blade you should get a fairly good groove of eaven depth .simples 😀
If you need a guide drill a hole of same dia as dowel in a scrap piece and cut scrap piece in half through centre of hole.lay guide block infront of saw blade and adjust clamped blade to correct hight then ( assuming your right handed ) keep left hand over guide block and rotate dowel with right hand .a new hard point saw will put a groove in a dowel without much pressure in no time

unless you ride near large mirrors all day, looks realy dont count for much. Its how it feels to ride that counts.I liked mine, It increased my bottom of trail grin thrice-fold 😀

What frame is it your riding ? I had a marin wolf ridge that snapped chains on a regular basis and havent had one go since and have had several different frames over the last few years .
I still ride the same as far as I know so put it down to the way that frame worked !?

a socket set is the ideal drift kit ! You get more sizes than on that link plus they can kill more than one bird if you catch my drift ( no pun intended )!!
Always worth keeping the old bearings as drifts for future too !!
Unless your running out of space in your wallet of coarse in which case buy a park tool one they are suitably overpriced on most things !!

WTB All Terrain Comp Tyre are £12.99 at minute on crc.I had some a while back and the centre runs like a slick on road but they will happily keep you smiling throught the woods or down a track or two.
They give a proper fat mtb look and live up to their name i found!
oops sorry theyve only got 700c at minute i just checked. 😳
If you can find 26″ ers somewhere else they do work well as an all rounder

It makes you get your bum out of the saddle rather than bobble through sections in your comfy armchair as some do on a full sus bike .And getting your weight and balance right makes you better able to handle slippery or tricky sections although you could equally learn to do that on a full sus bike I guess .
The difference is riding a hard tail forces you to move about and think about what your doing where as you can get away without on a sus bike .I guess you could just ride very slowly and change your riding line on a hard tail and learn nothing mind.

pledge 5-in1 soapy wood cleaner and a scourer or fine wire wool soaked in the stuff to gently scrub .It leaves no residue and wont raise the grain .Youl be amased how easy it is and how good your furnature looks afterwards .Then danish oil ragged on in several light coats will bring out the features of the grain and laminate the top layer protecting it.Danish oil also works as a primer for other oils / finishes so gives you plenty of options later on rather than having to strip the hole thing in order to apply something else.
Unless its just made from old pallets in which case jet wash it and paint it brown !! 8)

The nuts do need to be cranked a fair amount as your having to set the new olive not just thread it home.
If it were mine I think id give it a try somewhere not too demanding, then do a half re-bleed (just attaching quarter full syringe and do the bubble extracting part rather than full pushing new fluid through ) and see how you go.
If the brakes arnt that old you might get away without doing anything much else .
Do the levers spring back to normal resting position if you pull them hard and let them go ?

Ive had to remove syringe ,unclamp it and push the air out (holding it plunger side down so you only push the air out) and start again but that was after a lever rebuild which meant the lever was empty before starting. If youve only shortened the hose id say your pulling air into the system somewhere .Did you use new olive ?
Squeeky lever sounds like the seals on the piston inside the lever body .You could try spraying silicone spray in and around lever but id say it wants replacing realy you can get them as a spare ebay is as gooda place as any .
If youve bled the system you will have moved crap around inside and the seals on the piston dont last forever ,unfortunately, especialy if debris has been shifted.
You can download full service manual from sram and stripping lever is easy enough if a little messy.

Thats true enough njee but you should be able to rotate the cranks backwards as thats kinda what a free hub is all about surely !?

You could try 2 smallest sized cable ties !Make 4 small holes (depending on the size of tear ) in two positions above and below the tear .Then thread the cable ties through your new holes effectively stitching the tear together .Inflate the tube before cranking the cable ties and with a bit of jiggery pokery you can get a nice neat stitch !Obviously you have to have the cable tie lock bits on the outside so as not to puncture the innertube .Worked for me actualy looks quite neat too.

dont think so pixel it was fairly dry sunday and the jokeys are loose as a gordie lass after a few beers !!
The cranks lock up tight , no movement in either direction but free up as soon as braking force is reduced !?

Ive seen buy it now listings on ebay that get relisted several times, at the same price, and eventually sell .I guess you only need one person looking for that size / style to be looking when you happen to be listing and youve sold your bike !! Dont be put off just yet especially as with the sun coming out after so much rain most people are probably out enjoying it rather than buying bits on ebay !!
Maybe try polishing her up and looking at other peoples listings to see where yours could be improved before dropping the price .

caustic soda does the same damage to paintwork as brake fluid so its probably the same stuff !!Try it and let us know ! Just remember to wear eye protection when topping up !! 😉
