Are we climbing the steep chalky bit from the footy field this year? I can get up that on the 9er… just…in the dry…with my saddle wedged into my arse.

Just out of interest is your number 2 button not working or is 9er the new word for 29er? :-)

I’ll be riding my 26er hard tail rather than my 27.5 full suss in the hopes the lightness of the hard tail might help me in some respect!

    26er!!?? I know I know….

Thanks for all the replies. We went for a hack around Stanmer for a few hours on Saturday and it was running really well. I’ve been up there many times in the wet and dry over the last couple of years and are really looking forward to this now, although looking at the interweb the start looks interesting with a lot folk jostling for some space…

I was up there last night (thurs) and it was a tad damp in places. Spec’s and or a front guard would of been helpful at times.

Perhaps not covering yourself in black clothing might help too.

Interesting this. I can’t help the OP but I will say that when it’s dark or dusk and a bike has a really bright flashing rear light it can be very distracting when trying to pass safely. Presumably there are different brightness modes?

Hi Sam, if the mech is not returning (sticky) I’d look at changing the cable. Or has the end adjustment screw moved which might need a tweak

An OS Explorer map would be your friend here. :)

It looks a flaff for the first time you do it but it’s really easy. As above

Completely off topic but VW arn’t as good as they once were. I know I own one. Keep your options open.

Went from T5 to a rubbish car B5.5 Passat for biking.

Car better in every way other than ability to carry needless junk.

Now nicer car (F11 5 Series) with a tow bar for a bike rack, and there is literally no way I would consider a van. i have a friend with a T6 and another with a fancy pants Transit and they are still crap compared to a decent car. No way would I want to do a big trip in one.

my only regret is we kept the van for so long.

Your either a van person or your not. I think it’s fair to say your not.

I’ve always had a van since I could drive 30 plus years now (eek I’m getting old), some company vans but mostly privately owned. I’ve had cars too at the same time. We have an old focus at the mo and I had to use it a couple of times lately to transport the bike and what a bloody flaff! Couldn’t wait to get back in the van again.

I went along the above trails affected this morning and all the rubbish has been removed. I was going to bring a bin bag myself and get rid of it all at the weekend.

Well done to whoever removed it.

That’s what I thought but you never know in the land of MTB. I’ll thread the chain through later and see what happens :-)

    Thanks for clarifying that.

So what constitutes as a ‘cheeky’?

What baffles me is why leave an empty bottle of drink which weighs less than it did to take in! It did leave a sour taste tonight when I saw the tent and tyre.

Ok, so it’s a bit muddy. What combination tyre are you folks using up there at the moment?

Mmmm.. looking at your pic, I’d say you guys are right in thinking they have been over tighten.
    Thanks for your help :-)

They are fresh and brand new out of the packet 20 minutes ago. Should new DMR flattys pedal require greasing?

    Thanks for the suggestion scottfitz

I had an almost immediate response from Windwave

    The response was;

Hi, I’m afraid these do not lock down. No fork in the new ranges too I’m afraid, it’s a shame, was a great feature.

    Regards

    Shaun

Cheers for that. I’ve just pinged them the same question.
