Good luck with this OP. I brought the subject up of dark clothing and roadies a few years ago and the replies were some what interesting to say the least.

What @richmtb said. Seeing it more and more in remote areas now too!?

Cheers @jacobyte, I only have a short travel 29er ht at my disposal so no decisions to make on that front, looking forward to it.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and at the time it seemed like a section of the start of the red loop was closed off. It didn’t seem to make to much of a difference to me. Having said that I don’t ride there very often.

Slight highjack but does anybody have a link on how these guns should be used? I have had various different results with mine some results seem to have had a negative effect. I can’t help thinking I’m doing something wrong.

10th for me which I was initially quite happy with until a realised there were only 11 who did all 3 rounds 😏

Overtaking is a bit tricky, you just have to be bit patient and imaginative..

I’ll just add that its good for spectators because of it being in a smaller area and the course normally passing around sections of the parking area.

Yes there will be roots and lots of them. The whole area drains very well so the mud doesn’t tend to stay around for long and its not sticky clay which we have around my neck of the woods. As above its pretty tight and great fun👍

Great video @masterdabber. Yes that tree was a bit fiddly, I see someone in the video took a left line over that fallen tree. Not sure if it was intentional or not but it looked cool😄

No more Gorricks this spring for me but I have signed up for the southern series.

Undoubtedly I bet you gave it your best shot Ernie.

I would of a preferred a better position than 34th but I gave it my all.
I was also gridded and couldn’t get to the front. Mind you I’m not sure how that happened as according to the email I shouldn’t of been. Can only assume some folk didn’t turn up. Realistically I don’t think it would of made much difference to result anyway.

I came away knowing I gave it my all. Great fun, course and weather.

    Southern xc series anyone?

Speedy recovery to DrP and kryton 57. If my memory’s right theres not so many long straight fire roads as the R2. He says hopefully!

Yes would love to do this race. I quite often watch the Dirt magic film as it always seems to pick me up when I’m a bit pi$$ed off with life.

Sad to see this finish. A brilliant event for all from the little dogs through the ages up to older folk..cough..like myself. The big dog gave me the xc racing bug a few years back. It will be missed. I may have to get over to Stanmer in August to do a lap or 2 of the course saved to my Garmin just because..

Just looking at the timings Edit * 28th for me not 27th. DrP you where knocking out some decent consistent lap times there and on an SS! Fair play to you.

Yes another great course from Gorrick. 3 laps 27th in the 40+ 2 hours for me. Couldn’t do anymore, by the third I was cooked with the awful fittness from the past few weeks. As above interesting collection of cattle at one point showing their support. Nice vibe as usual. Well done all who competed, let’s do it again in 2 weeks for round 3!

Yep I’m in. Went for another tester ride yesterday and all good with the body today. Hopefully it will have stopped raining by tomorrow but what ever the weather I’ll be there👍.

I would do the grands vets but there’s no way I can do a race-ish pace for 3 hours.

I’m signed up for the 40+ 2 hours again but have been nursing a hamstring and other injury so not intirely sure whether to race or not. The latest variant has me pondering a bit too.

That was a cracking course. The cold eventually got to me so didn’t manage a third lap, that and the fact I was knackered. Forgot my eye protection too so spent alot of the time looking through teary eyes🙄.

Anyways i was pleased with 15th in the 2hr 40+ cat. Who’s in for the next two rounds!?

I was diagnosed with RA 9 years ago (54 years old now). It took a while to come to terms with it and about 18 months until I found the right drugs that worked for me. If you get the meds right I would imagine you will be able to ride a bike again.

RA has actually spurred me on to ride more and faster when ever I can. Even completed some xc races this year coming middle of the field in position.

I can’t add to the already good advise above. Hope you get it diagnosed properly soon.

Good going to all for plugging on through the stickiness. I was surprised how well my Racing Ralph/Ray combo worked after having to make a last minute front and back wheel change after discovering probs with both wheels! The Challenge (1 lap) was for me. Blasted it right from the start and I be darned I came 1st, first 1st in my career😆. Anyway a good day was had, looking forward to going back to that venue again.

Anyone know if there is any practising a lap allowed on Sunday morning?

    muddylegs

Hmm…just looking at the entries and there’s only 22 in the one lappers so that’s possibly why there’s no gridding. Anyway it should be a good day.

I’ve received the race email, no gridding. I’m assuming they’ve scrapped it for Sunday? I’m only going around once on a jolly so maybe that’s why .

I must admit Ive been losing interest in it a bit as have been plagued with silly little injuries and health problems this year but the above has rekindled some enthusiasm. Thinking maybe a dropper on my hardtail might make the downy bits more fun.

A couple of years ago after a cracking snow filled winters day hiking in the lakes I was driving all smiles back to Keswick on the A66 when I heard my Spot tracker fly off the roof of the van and into the road. I pulled straight into a handy layby and watched several vehicles missed it including a huge arctic. Just as I was about to reclaim it off the road another car came around the corner and flattened it! I haven’t left my new one on the roof again..

Agree with ranolddd go electric if you can budget it. Ours has been a god send keeping the sun out of ground floor windows and just being able to sit out under it on sunny days.

Nice one. I’m just looking to survive and get in the allotted laps before the time runs out in the 50+ old geezers cat.
