Does anyone know where the word for Welsh comes from?

Comes from the old English/Anglo-Saxon word for foreigner I think?
Walesch is one spelling I’ve seen.

The horned helmet thing, possibly they were ceremonial/display helmets rather like HenryVIII grotesque helmet-with-spectacles-and-dreadlocks in the Royal Armouries display, certainly you wouldn’t want to wear anything that would catch a sword/axe blade and turn its energy into the cranium – apart from marking you out to every nutter on the other side (trust me, I’ve experience in this area!)

It would be direct to the outside through a solid wall. I’m thinking to place it where the old overflow pipe from the header tank currently is as that’s directly above the power line.
I’ll have to talk to the builder Chap to see what will work though.

Days off user here too. No problems apart from needing to use contact lens drops before putting them in, but that’s my eyes.
    £12 for 30 pairs.

What is wrong with that woman’s mouth?

It doesn’t have an axe buried in it?

I’ve just paid £2095 for an install.
    Stove + flue pipe = £650
Knock out of fireplace = £200
Installation inc. Liner, stone hearth, steel register plate, fireproof boards, chimney pot & bird cowl etc = the rest.
How much is a double lined steel flue?

Hunter Herald 5 going strong here, although I may let it die down now as its currently 21C and I’m sweating!

I bought a pure wood burner (Hunter Herald 5) and as such, it has no grate for coals.
I’ve looked into a conversion kit & whilst they aren’t particularly expensive its a real faff to convert.
So… I’m wondering about having a little grate made that will stand on little feet on the floor of the firebox, something that will easily lift in & out when needed. As above, just so I can keep a fire in overnight etc.

Anyone done similar, or know what it will cost to have made?

I’ve had a large repro medieval tent that is essentially a bell tent in design.
Made in heavy canvas, they weigh a ton, are a pain to dry out & can suffer from mildew if poorly looked after.
They act as sails in strong winds as well.

My advice is to buy a decent sized modern tent with compartments & a good sized awning for far less than £1500.

Having done ten yrs camping in a canvas tent I’d never go back to one.

I once got a full-on screaming-fit rollocking for NOT sleeping with a girl we both knew some 25yrs back..

Still trying to figure that one out.

I recently had a wood burner fitted.
My house has mains gas central heating, but we its a C19th build with a solid wall gable end. We had a lot of problems with condensation & moisture retention in the wall, since the stove has been fitted the wall is dry & the mould hasn’t come back. That’s good enough for me.
We only use the stove weekend daytimes when the central heating isn’t on, it works in conjunction with the CH not replacing it.

Not eating swede either – have a real aversion to certain root vegetables! Beetroot/turnips/swedes are for livestock as far as I’m concerned.

I read that it has been banned in the US for a long time, strange when you consider what they put into their beef..

A vegetarian friend gave me a veggie haggis as he knows I’ll try anything.
Don’t remember what brand it was but it was VILE!
Turns out he gave it to me because even he thought it was disgusting.

Done one in the microwave before now but it wasn’t so nice – best to pop it in the pan then.

Not eating bloody turnips though, pig food that is!

Apparently the Brizz coach was heard gloating after the match that Brizz had the inside info before the game.
That’s pretty damning if true & may well mean Brizz face a sanction.
Don’t think Mr Arscott will want to face the squad tomorrow..

Bristol Post have named the player as Tom Arscott – who’s brother Luke plays for Bristol.
Tom Arscott is out of contract at the end of the season, has he been trying to get a berth at Brizz?

   ’livelyhood’ even..

This has the potential to wreck Bristol’s hopes of staying in the Prem – or Sale’s!

Sale fans are NOT happy right now & certain names getting a lot of air time.

Neil Fissler is reporting that a Sale player is to face a disciplinary panel tomorrow for leaking team tactics/info/calls to Bristol before the recent game.
Bristol coach heard boasting about it after the game, and now has allegedly grassed the player up to Sale.

Massive if true, player will lose his lovely good & surely Bristol will face some form of sanction?

I’ve heard names but won’t repeat them til tomorrow.

Surely leaping out of a tackle is at least a penalty offence?

I bought a Holdsworth La Quelda for £300 from Planet X.
It’s fun to ride, yes its heavy but not too heavy & cruises well once up to speed.
I went 42/18 & rapidly realised that was too low a gear, fitted a 16T freehub on the flip-flop hub it’s just right for my commute.
Thing is, it came with dual-pivot rim brakes & (stupidly) painted rims. Braking was fine in the dry, absolutely terrifying in the wet. Fitted new pads & it’s better, but next time I’ll be going for discs.

My road bike has rim brakes & they work fine in the wet, it’s these ridiculous painted rims that are the cause I suspect.

ANT+ dongle, do you need a Zwift branded one or will any version do the job?

    muddydwarf

Changing gear isnt a problem – i do intervals in each gear anyway.
I’m not really bothered about a power reading, its more about making a turbo session more bearable!

Zwift has the info for my trainer, i have an ANT+ wireless speed/cadence sensor on the rear wheel so no problems there.
Apparently Win7 is the minimum requirement for Zwift, may have to clean the laptop up & regain some memory though.

Two different opinions there, reason i asked about changing the resistance on prompting is that the bar mounted resistance dial is fecked & i can’t seem to find a replacement.

Right, i’m interested in doing Zwift so what do i need?

    I have a dumb trainer – Elite Volare and a Win7 laptop. I have a Mio gps with ANT+ and speed/cadence sensor.
I can run a wifi signal extender via the wiring into the shed, do i need a USB thingy to pick up the signal?
How does it work with a dumb trainer? Do you change the resistance manually when prompted?

I’ve no idea how all this will work so any help much appreciated.

    Out, then in.
Out for a curry at 8pm (restaurant is closing, owners retiring so last ever visit) then home for a glass of something bubbly whilst I launch my stock of leftover fireworks from Bonfire night.

Another sweeter Islay is Jura, Duirach’s Own. Personally think its the best of the mainstream Jura’s.
My all time favourite (so far) is Ardbeg’s Lord of the Isles – it is simply stunning, never knew smooth til I tasted that.
Mind you, at over £400 a bottle it might be another few years til I taste it again!
