thanks for all the suggestions and the offer of the alien rx – will consider the topeak. Already have a leatherman and other bits..but a mutli tool comes in handy especially when some in the group insist on not bringing out with um

the CS has seen lots of use as it was the only one I had.. ordered a proper one to use at home (park tools).. but still like to have one for the bike just in case others need it

I like memory map for it’s ease of use compared to garmin basecamp. but it’s expensive now needing licenses for this that and the other? There is no real difference to route and track in MM except track does not show the waypoints and can be freely drawn in like using a pen. You should be able to get all sorts of useful information out of the MM. There is no issue with swapping gpx between the MM and garmin, and both should give information from the same file – if not somethings not working (maybe a licensing issue?!). I have a garmin edge but prefer the pda with MM v5.0 on. The garmin IMOP is slow, awkward and expensive. But if OS have finally sorted out getamap for the prices suggested then great..selling individual maps via MM seems crackers

not a bad idea… probably use it once in a lifetime but that once could be when your plunged into a river and you need to break your car windscreen to get out.. certainly a novelty item for someone who has everything. At least it’s more user friendly than the wenger swiss army knife https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnmfzhKYcHE

ring garmin uk via support, don’t bother sending an email as you may receive a reply sometime next year. they should be able to help re-allocate your maps if they are locked

nice to see they have put a bit between the 2 front wheel… so you can tie your herd of husky dogs to it. Ridiculous? you would have to be Hercules to go a mile or more on that… the friction would be horrendous

usually tag on to home insurance, cover is less but considering I’m expected to carry around a 20kg lock and chain at all times will probably renders it useless anyway. for the 10% they will charge for a standalone policy I’d rather put that money in the bank, lock my bike up with a cheap lightweight “deterent” for the odd coffee stop and hide it behind other bikes. If someone wants your bike they are going to have it even with a descent lock. there’s not allot you can do to stop thieving t….rs from nicking bits of it anyway

mate found a problem at the 11th hour with his 27.5 inch tyre, he’s the only one in the group with the new wheel size and couldn’t “lend” him a replacement 😯 fantastic marketing… cheers for the 3 hours waiting for the blooming bike shop to open instead of traveling to the trail

set your conservatory up like a drying room, heat the room but extract the moisture. are you saying your against a tumble? a condensing tumble dryer will do that more efficiently than a dehumd on it’s own?
