busted the gear mech on my 3 year old bike (but well looked after), to which “bless her” and without prompting said…why don’t you just buy a new bike!?!? 8O. genius …and gob smacked I didn’t hang around and did. still fixed the other bike 🙂

went out for usual club ride on sunday morning, passed a pub with revellers outside and did a double take…it was 9:10 am! couldn’t work out if they had started early or not gone to bed. Love a drink on a ride and very nutrional, certainly helps appease the wobbly leg syndrome. ride responsibly of course…(go on, go on, go on, go…)

if your not comfortable with the buyer then don’t sell. for paypal “seller protection” to work (if it does as spelled out above) YOU NEED to show proof of delivery at the minimum. If the buyer offers to collect then will you get this? even from a courier service they will give all detail to the buyer only or to the customer who bought the service. At best you may get a ticket with a number on it, but as to what happened after that????? thus YOU MUST SORT the delivery out yourself. However from other peoples experience it wouldn’t make much difference if it was delivered by the queen with armed guard… the buyer can just say it wasn’t as described (presumably I thought it was a bike when I got a frying pan?). an alternative to paypal (gift or otherwise) is to use the new UK banking systems PAYM system. if you have online banking simply register your mobile number with it. you can then use this to pay and receive goods FREE of any charges. and as the money is in your account it can’t go anywhere else – even if the transaction was later to be proved fraud (the bank would stump the cost not you)

nice one TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR my mate just sent me the same link having purchased last week (for half the price) and raves about them. apparently illuminates a large field easily…obviously the price has shot up due to the darkness falling

sram reverbs have a 2 year warranty (as do most of their components). take it back to the bike shop who will sort this out, if it’s a warranty return mine took about 2 to 3 weeks to sort.

    agree with that…
not everyone has the complete picture on everything…as in

The Highway Code does not stipulate that bells must be used, but rather suggests that cyclists: ‘be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians, letting them know you are there when necessary, for example by ringing your bell.’

nuff said…it’s a myth that is drummed into us all at birth becuase bike shops have to fit it …read all the rules here

the subject will never go away, how many times has the “three lane footpath” debate come up? or pedestrians who bury their head in the phone debacle. while out riding on a massive bridleway the other week we were ticked off by a group of ramblers for not having a bell. the fact they had moved out of the way of their own accord because they saw us coming from a mile away (litarally! it was a wide open field?) didn’t seem to have registered? it made us think for 5 seconds about the need to over warn a group of walkers who are a) stood still at the time b) facing your direction when they have clearly spotted you? c) were not causing an obstruction when we got to them? and then we laughed….. 😆 it’s not like we were tramming it at the time.

I assume city riding is completely void of all dirt, fly’s, dirt etc to get this gear mucky?

you haven’t mentioned how long you have had it? most suspension bits need servicing after not many rides/ hours or milage… it certianly won’t do any harm even if it new

with the power of lights on bikes these days they can dazzle even from a good distance – strob lights are most annoying. car lights are setup to not do that under normal driving conditions. having said that some high end car lights are equally a pain. commute riders should aim the beam down slightly … but any light is better than wearing sunglasses at dusk 😯

osmotherley is a gentle route, there’s no information on distance however? I’ve ridden their from the gliding club at sutton bank est. 30 mile round trip.
Rosedale abbey is worth a go especially the disused railway line coming off from Blakey ridge, not done the wooded section south of RA or the hike up into the moors – definitely one for sunny wind free day as you are very exposed up their. avoid this RA killer loop from mbr http://www.mbr.co.uk/routes/northern-england/gps-route-rosedale-abbey-north-yorkshire-moors/ – the big downhill section (bridleway) north of RA has disappeared through lack of use, and so has the another section on the south side which ruined our ride a month ago.
    hope that helps

pick a better line? if the rut is the only choice going uphill how is that possible? where is the fun in pushing your bike for 1/2 mile or more? there are other rides nearby that are fully rideable and I’m in no hurry to go back here just for the downhill back to langsett car park.

yes flatten the angle so the push button is not in contact with the ground when upturned. that’s not my bike by the way just the view to show how it fits in 8)

not worth riding in any condition, the ruts are too deep to ride through without striking your pedals – the top is just too eroded to pick any line through…and then the walkers. forecast rain for friday afternoon so will be boggy as it holds water well. eyam to bakewell if you want a challenging ride that is rideable in all conditions

get me my cheque book 🙂 I must have it just for the chrome parts that draw your eye from the chipped and scratched paintwork (?). if I put it on the misses it may work the same magic there to?

as for “unique”…that term was also used for this number as yet another “3D printed bike” splashed across the twitter feed.

tricky number this, the seller is registered as a business seller and apart from using XXX guff XXX in every sale they have made there appears no ebay rules broken? obviously a staff member judging by their previous listings and pictures (all cut and paste or just bloody good at taking photos!?) and tally with the CG site. but it does stink when they say it’s in their house and have blatantly cut other pictures…rule 1 on ebay it don’t sell without a picture, rule 2 – it helps if that ducking picture is of the item YOU are selling???????
when plyphon posted “jockey stops” I read jock straps?
their’s only 6 watchers…shame it should be allot more to get the sellers hopes up

    silicon – good in wet
    rubber – okay in wet
foam – sponge bob square pants
would recommend a set of hope grips

nice idea and don’t see why it wouldn’t work or sell, it’s the title that’s incorrect – marketing anything as “UN-stealable” is just inviting criticism. it’s a different method of preventing theft…at least of the frame anyway. Alexei Sayle showed how to steal bikes in “didn’t you kill my brother” comic strip presents 1988. just take a chainsaw or blow torch to the tree/ lamppost 😯

correct, you don’t have to look a dweeb these days
not that was ever an excuse. Making people wear PPE can be frustrating..the day I walked down the factory line to find a bunch of guys wearing welding glasses while operating a cnc machine was encouraging – why? they didn’t know they were for “light” welding just that they looked cool compared to the usual offering. we didn’t argue if it meant they actually wore them

swaledale is my fave…anywhere round reeth/ gunnerside or grinton is spot on…long ups, long trails, long downs…all rideable all year round. glad you liked it

general consensus is it won’t hurt and light oil/ grease will be required anyway after a few wet rides – the outer cables are not made of stainless like the cable and will begin to rust over time…you don’t need to pack it with grease just a light dosing.

roll the dice and state your number? is is worth the gamble? the problem with accidents is you never know when they are going to happen pot hole in road? sunlight glistening off oil that you think is water? hit by a third party. A bump to the head in the wrong place can be serious at any speed (especially standing up and catching it on the cupboard door!). like chip said if you did have an accident and they weren’t wearing that 1 inch piece of polystyrene would you be happy? disability’s can be hard to swallow and they are only young. have fun and ride safe..you never know what’s coming

http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/abergavenny-wls/ has quite few rides listed of varying distances. using the canal path to get about is the best option. the rides upto the tops are usually okay but can be boggy once their
