there are no guarantees in life, a failure can happen to any component given the right conditions be that from manufacture or just the wrong angle or force during impact. a friend managed to carry on riding his broken carbon handle bars for another 50 odd miles before, luckily, it came off in his hand while stationary!? so despite checking all was well with the bike at the time, hard to tell really. (he later found a crack his in helmet too!)

practice, keep going one day it will happen. if the fork is airsprung (what spec is the bike?) I use a general rule of 10 psi per 10kg of weight for the front fork, and 20psi per 10kg for the rear shock (8.5stones = 53kg) so for you that be 50psi in the front, then go up or down 10psi from there until you see some movement or bottom out? if it’s a coil spring ask your parents for a new bike as you will never get anywhere near it for such a light rider (unless you take it out completely!!)

it’s all rideable! do the north side of the river saturday – taking in Fremington edge climb work your way as per Yorkshire89 second photo. if your not fit enough to the big south climb after gunnerside you can work your back to reeth via the riverside bridleway (good fun and worth a visit) Second day do the south side and get in a few descents. expect long climbs and long descents and a big grin. dales centre will help you out no problems

what is the file size of the .fit file in activities? if it’s 0kb then it’s corrupt and probably won’t be recoverable unless someone knows better. if it is not then happy days and proceed as normal. it shouldn’t have ran out battery probably a typical garmin malfunction!!

in terms of reliability they dont seem to be getting any better? hit and miss, got 2 Reverbs and they have both been replaced. its the same for all my mates with some having them replaced twice! think it’s safe to say it’s a 2 year warranty and you will need it. However all things considered I couldn’t do without it

never seen that alpkit jacket until today, but looks good with a couple of extra features for the money. At this price bracket your really spoilt for choice especially if you don’t mind the fit. I managed to pick up a madison http://www.madison.co.uk/products/cycling/clothing-eyewear/jackets-gilets/pac-it-men-s-showerproof-jacket-green-flash-small/ for about £20. the underam vents, packs into it’s own pocket and soft collar feature stand out for me.

I agree with nemesis, go to the “official” ticket seller for the UK website instead cosport https://www.cosport.com/olympics/tickets.aspx

google the problem to see if you can fix it yourself, but they start from £35 quid on ebay.. a descent repair shop will cost you at least £50 just to look at it

£54 quid – good quality even in the dark. and that’s the most important thing. You will also need to diy in a 12v connection.

not used 9466 and should work. however Ive used this product to repair my abs door mirror cover
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Q-Bond-QB2-Strong-Adhesive-Repair/dp/B002XF4S6C
which should work on carbon, it is basically superglue with a bottle of plastic powder (or aluminium) which you use to build up a layer of material where you need it – ideal for repairing carbon in small areas? the repair to my plastic cover is just as strong as the original cover. NOTE I just grabbed the link, think I paid £5.50 for mine only a month ago.

I wouldn’t buy another Garmin but have learned to live with my 800, the interface is clunky at best (like has this massive company never used a modern smartphone?!) the manual is very good at telling you what it can do without going into any specifics? thus it has taken a while to understand the quirks of the device such as loosing pre-programmed routes? getting it to change the line colour first time round or using the turn by turn function off road (oh yes it can do it). If you do buy one make sure you practice with it first before using it for any serious rides.

how do chaps and chapess’ been riding this trail over the weekend(july 2015). a hardtail will be okay for the majority, there are some sections that are muddy tracks, tiny bit of technical and across fields so skinny tyres (anything below 2.0inch may not be the best) but having said that you should be able to divert around the majority of that if you wish (if it looks like a field just look for the road around it instead!). It’s mostly minor roads and hard surfaces through northumberland park or across farmers land (lots of sheep and cow poo to avoid yey) Your map reading skills need to be sharp and a gps would be helpful or an 1:25 os map as some of the markers have been removed in places or there are “no visible” tracks at all. We encountered 2 sections deliberately blocked by someone (landowner?) that ment a trip across some barbed fences. The bugs were not a problem until the last day through the forest..absolute nightmare they were. There is a section between west woodburn and bellingham that looked like the last “up and down” of the day(staying in Bellingham) that was a complete waste of time and energy, the “down” section simply doesn’t exist meaning you have to make your own way through a massive field of cow trodden moor land next to a long gone hump/fence (WARNING TYRE SHREDDING SPIKES) getting off for many boggy/ rocky streams then through a field of hay with no track to be seen? just take the quite road instead…

interesting set off events.. if you complained they would probably “chalk” this down to a poor experience.. Sorry Curry’s have been trading for lord knows how many years and they continue to fail on every level of customer service spectacularly. You’d have thought they could have got it right by now

if you nail your bike down runs then get an aluminum frame, save the money for something else. Carbons fine but doesn’t crash well and the minor weight saving vs alu is it worth the extra grand or so? if you use it for xc with the odd bit of downhill sup to you. I crashed my alu frame into a gate post 6 months after getting it, had a dent in the downpipe ever since, carbon doesn’t dent!

not particularly, sounds like it’s being very picky indeed (new women perhaps?) try checking the port for dirt, checking the cables for dirt? that’s not normal unless the cables are dodgy to start with or the port is worn

it’s possible that bleeding may cure this, think I’ve done that in the past on this problem? but check for crash damage on the barb connection to the remote button – it’s very frail (thin section)
and may have broken but not come away from the remote. it took a while for me to notice mine was broken until it came away in my hand on a ride 8O..push it back on worked okay for while
