^ no pickup ramps or pins 😉

Deore, made of steel so heavier and can rust, other than that they’re fine.

I’d go Middleburn if I didn’t want a steel one.

Shrug my shoulders and think about how I should get round to passing my driving test sometime and finally stop using what is an unreliable, overpriced mess of a PT network.

Deore rusts, so surely causing wear?

I had the choice went for XTs they felt nicer. Down shifting feels “lighter” with them.

Tell me about it… Saw a show about Eddie Stobart truckers on channel 5 last night, never thought it would be possible to generate so much drama about a lorry delivering some wood chippings… even the adverts are crap, that andrex wet bog roll one, what the hell?

    Just a thought there maybe…

But the point of greasing bolts is so that the correct torque is more easily attained and to prevent corrosion/galling, I use parks anti siezed compound, a bit thicker than grease. Just take your multi tool with you, you’ll be fine 🙂

If I hadn’t got a new bike recently, I would get one with a 140mm air fork in a heart beat. I think it ain’t too pretty especially the headtube.

But as a bike on paper it ticks all the boxes, slack head angle and takes up to 160mm for going down, but also very light to get back to the top for another run.

Just seems like the perfect bike, set fire to the flats, blast up the hills, and bomb down the downhills – all year round, all day – no gunked up suspension, no rust and not as harsh as AL.

I run 711 bars with a 50mm, should be with a 60mm really (a bit twitchy) depends on your Head angle (mine is 68) 70mm would be a safe bet.

I had those, replaced with Avids (don’t get Avids)

Bleed them. The lever shouldn’t crush your fingers If they are set up right and you one/two finger break, get your LBS to explain how to set them up.

Edit: IMO though they are a pile of absolute pish, I had the same ones on my genesis, bin them. Get some Shimano XT’s or SLX.

You’ll need cassette, rotors etc as well. Very expensive way of doing it.

    The wonders of centrelock?

Bender fender, and a crud catcher on the downtube, keeps mud out of my eyes/mouth, being muddy everywhere else doesn’t bother me.

Any fender at the back just swings to the left or right and so is rendered ineffective from experience…

Get a White or Powder blue on it’ll de-northernise it 😉

Maybe take it easy with the hope stuff, give it a euro look (Shimano,Easton)?

I remember a pulsing sensation in the levers with a “ffrrrr” sound in the wet from my brakes 😕 They were on for about a week. Maybe pick up some XT’s general consensus is that they are nicer than my elixir 5s and you won’t need rotors or centrelock adapters like I did.

I’m local to Baildon, ride in Buck wood, Esholt wood and Shipley Glen, also Calverly but rarely. My brakes are in pieces at the moment so missed Fridays ride 🙁

I am a young lad in black (661 evo Knee pads) on a mat grey Genesis if you see me out, normally good for Friday after 1, Wednesday all day and weekends. Would be great to meet some new people, and to learn a few skills 🙂

Cheers, The levers felt flimsy and rubbish, lack of power too, then I flew over the bars and broke the right hand lever so that was the reason I replaced the whole set (could have fixed it but didn’t because of reasons above)

Wen’t for Avids since I love their lever feel, and you can’t take Shimano brakes apart and get spare seals for a good service. Should have got Hopes really 😛

Headset on them isn’t great, make sure you take it apart and put plenty of greased into those caged bearings. My headset rusted and died after a month.

I would recommend a full take apart grease, that’s what I am doing on mine ATM just got the front hub to go. 🙂

II have worn a few pairs of vans (skateboarding ones however chukka lows and old skools), and their sizing is consistent, I am a ten and wear a ten, if anything they might feel a bit snug a first.

I feel the same way, and I am quite young. I often feel ‘why me’ why be friends/in a relationship with me I am nothing special… So don’t trust people when they are friends with me, or say they love me. But the single thought of nobody is perfect and everyone has issues, keeps me up. And trust me everyone has problems, just some are better at hidding theirs than others. When it comes to talking about problems – other peoples problems make you feel better about your own. Fact. Oh and people love to give advice, I know I do 😛 also people find it hard to talk about their problems sometimes because they think people around them are perfect and will judge them for being a failure/different/having issues. This is not true, tell your friends about your problems and you will find they will start telling you about theirs too. And soon you realise that life ain’t perfect, we all have issues, but because we are all in this together we will be ok 🙂

No. Her reply to this is “I don’t know. What do you want to do” !!!!!!

She wants to do something, but doesn’t want to make the decision, since all decisions carry responsibilty, so want’s you to make it, but with her in mind…

You should buy as much scalextric as you can Elfin, make a massive track, and have a STW scalextric championship (bring your own car, TVR 400R for me :P) Or even a competition against the Piston heads fourm…

Does anybody use anything different from the Finish line or avid stuff then, if so what brand out of interest?

    Marketing BS then…

    muckytee

Then why does finish lines stuff say “designed specifically for mountain bike disc brakes”

If all DOT 5.1 stuff is the same?

You will also be helping the wider economy

That’s my excuse especially when buying stuff from Hope, that I am funding British industry and helping the British economy. Try it, makes you feel warm and fuzzy 🙂

I was going to put full outers on my core 40, seamed like a head ache so went for these instead: CRC Middleburn cable oilers

Cut your outer in half and install them, remove the rubber O-ring and give it a spray of GT85 post ride.

It was in my plans, but a ride on the 23rd left me with knackered brake pads and sticky (stuck) pistons in my avids, so no ride today 🙁

Always so gray/dark outside, so used an empty office room, courtesy of someone I know, to take some pictures. I don’t work in an office BTW, let alone live in one :O

Had an OTB where I broke the right hand brake lever, no sure how I did that.

Had another OTB not a scratch very odd, as it was a bit of a big un.

Then recently an of camber turn taken rather fast no braking, twisted my left wrist and hit my face into the ground as the bike slid out, felt like carpet burn and being punched in the face at the same time 🙂

Plenty of other stuff too (not as interesting)

those beamers aren’t pointless, they are specificly designed to transport the over inflated egos of the people who drive them, so therefore the cars are also over inflated…

I would think so, as your not supposed to undo stuff with a torque wrench. So I was putting quite a bit of force through it and expecting it to click, I then thought this can’t be right. Mine is a Draper one…?
