    Problem solved.

    samuri, it is set up to redirect to a sub-folder.

    I take your point and thanks for you help, the favicon that appears doesn’t come from my directory, it comes from theirs! I cannot edit the page source that appears on the website, it simply directs to my directory with it being a satellite site. I think i might have to live with it.

    I’d like my own favicon, whenever i try to insert one in the conventional way the default host favicon takes it’s place. I think this is because the my web page HTML is linked to rather than being the actual page source. But then i don’t know what i am talking about…

    another question, because it is a subfolder the host automatically puts on a favicon.ico, regardless of how i write my HTML i can’t get rid of theirs!

    ahhhh, i think i have found my way around it. I have created a directory in Var/www/http called ‘temp’ and forwarded the new domain name to that directory, i have put my html pages in there (no CSS or images yet) and it works. The only difference being that the domain name does not change when you switch pages, for instance;

    normally; http://www.MainSite.c0m becomes http://www.MainSite.c0m/service.html or http://www.MainSite.c0m/contact.html depending on the the page you click.

    Now; http://www.SecondarySite.c0m always shows as http://www.SecondarySite.c0m regardless of the page you use.

    Any negatives to this? i am sure i have seen this before.

    Thanks for the feedback, i am getting mixed messages from the host, on the standard package (mine) I can’t use subdomains, it will cost me another £100 for that privilege yet i received this email;

    Hi Matt,
    You will need to select the ‘Domain Parking’ option by please note that the
    VDS Packages are intended as a Single Primary Domain Solution, they can
    however support multiple Virtual Domains by using our Register1.net Domain
    Control Panel.

    You can host as many of your own personal sites on the VDS as you wish, the
    Virtual Sites will not have the same functionality as the VDS site
    (Mailservers / FTP Servers names will reflect the VDS site name for example)
    however they will show their own SiteName in the Address bar at the top.

    Using the Register1 Control Panel for your additional sites, you can simply
    redirect them to subdomains on your VDS Pro (Subfolders on a VDS Standard).
    Register1’s advanced redirection allows for full path URL’s to be used.

    For example

    http://www.VDSsite.com is your main Site
    http://www.Secondarysite.com is your Secondary site, linked to
    http://secondary.vdssite.com

    http://www.Secondarysite.com will work and Display http://www.Secondarysite.com in your
    Browser.
    http://www.Secondarysite.com/holiday/spain/img_033.jpg will work and display
    http://secondarysite.vdssite.com/holiday/spain/img_033.jpg and display
    http://www.Secondarysite.com in your browser.

    This will allow you to host multiple sites from one VDS Pro.
    Please note, Reselling is NOT permitted from VDS account. Any accounts
    found to be used for Commercial reselling will be suspended and may be
    removed.

    If you require full site functionality you can simply purchase a VDS for
    each site (you can click the Upgrade to VDS button at any time to instantly
    upgrade)

    followed by;

    We have added the forwarding package to your account which will allow you
    to forward from your new domain to a subdirectory on your VDS website.

    I have temporarily forwarded it to the VDS website whilst i figure out what to do next. It looks like i may have to upgrade or take out a new hosting package…

    i thought it would be as easy as creating a new directory and forwarding to it.

    What do you mean a weed? How rude.

    When it pops through a bit more, put some more compost/dung/soil on top, to produce more produce.

    do you mean re-cover the whole thing or just the base of the stem (when it ‘pops through a bit more’?

    Err, not being the gardening sort, well not yet anyway, a potato i planted a few weeks ago reached the surface a couple of days gone. Today, a second plant appeared on the surface a couple of inches away. Is it normal for more than one plant to develop from one potato?

    I’d be tempted to adjust you seating position before investing in miracle cures from Specialized.

    I over-pronate badly and have running shoes accordingly, I have had no luck when it comes to cycling shoe insoles, completely different forces at play.

    Welcome to the club. lots of things can cause it. I assume you are using spd’s?

    You shouldn’t be putting excessive load on the Achilles/Calf, you need to reduce the stress on this area. The stress is caused by overuse. Start by moving your cleat as far back (towards your ankle) as you can, bring seat hight down, move saddle forward.

    Don’t let it persist.

    as above;

    – Wheels have to go, it doesnt matter much about the static weight of the bike, its all about the rims and the tyres.
    – Target cheap savings; Foam grips, Toupe Ti/SLR, KCNC seatpost, syntace/ritchey stem, KMC X9SL chain, so £200 and 1.5lbs ish off.
    – Or £500 on some stans on spaim lasers (dont bother with CXRays), AM classic hubs and some nice 400-450g tyres. -2lbs.

    to put it another way; £700=3.5-4lbs

    Just loose a bit of weight and put on some legs. Seriously.

    I can dig out the building regs regarding internal insulation if you like?

    MTT
    Free Member

    Right. Sounds like a damp problem caused by one or both of the following;

    1) Bricks are not waterproof, they are porous, you are getting rising damp because you don’t have a DPC,

    2) Old houses have a single/double skin, cavity-less exterior walls thus there is a cold bridge, the interior surface of the wall will always reflect the outside temperature although it will fluctuate less due to its mass. This temperature is generally lower than the ambient indoor temperature and thus moisture condenses on the inside of the building because of the temperature difference thus causing damp.

    Solutions; Internally insulated walls, this is costly because it would require a stud work frame against the inside of the external walls, this is then packed with insulation and boarded over. Might be worth it in the long run.

    Leave windows open when possible to ventilate, set thermostat to kick in at a comfortable temperature.

    I will give you a list of manufacturers who make reasonably priced watches if you like?

    You really sound like a sanctimonious ****.

    I am a bit of a watch collector and as such have strong opinions about fake watches. I won’t sit on the fence.

    1) If you cant afford a B&R then buy a licensed homage, many manufacturers make homages to popular watches, see the Rolex Submariner, IWC Portugueser.

    2) I’d much rather have a real Seiko than a fake Rolex, you’re getting a genuine watch (and support/guarantee etc.) and save up and one day get a real Rolex/Omega/etc….

    3) You obviously value the brand highly enough that you want to be seen to own a Rolex yet you won’t pay the going rate for a real one.
    Surely this just makes you a cheapskate. If you really just want a quality mechanical watch then there are plenty to choose from. Why pretend to be something or someone that you’re not?

    4) I admire the ability of the counterfieters, but abhor their business ethics. Where do you suppose these things are made?

    5) Anyone buying a watch to portray an image is totally missing the point of good watches, which probably explains their willingness to buy the fakes. The logic of this is all wrong. If you’re buying a fake to project an image of yourself then you obviously aspire to the brand. However by buying the fakes you are actually devaluing the brand that you aspire to by aiding the proliferation of counterfeits. All a bit pointless I think.

    I would like to think that most buyers of quality timepieces do so through some level of understanding and appreciation of the craftmanship involved in the watches.

    6) If the Chinese can build a watch equal to the premium brands, then they should brand it as their own.

    7) STW should not become a market place for Illegal counterfeiting.

    That IMHO is why people who buy FAKE watches are cocks.

    More than likely, The Mould is likely to be a symptom of damp conditions, the spores exist everywhere and it’s just a case of the right climate for them to multiply. Tell me a bit more about the type of house.

    Jesus Christ!

    Are you seriously suggesting someone buys a FAKE watch? You have to be a grade ‘A’ cock to buy a fake watch and pay more than a fiver for it for the purposes of a joke. If you want a REPLICA then take a look at a Seiko Diver or similar. There is no justification for buying FAKE watches and funding crime.

    Numbskull.

    Sounds like a cock, and alarmingly he sees himself as a victim. Its a reflection on his appalling behaviour that people have felt the need to collect money in person. Utterly shameful.
