I empathise with TheBrick, 29, two degrees, no debt whatsoever, good job and salary.

I have concluded: Why cripple myself to buy a suburban box or a ‘characterful’ (read Victorian) flat in a dubious area and forgo the benefits of renting. I pay a relatively small amount to live hassle free in a Georgian flat overlooking the sea in a fantastic area, the sort of place I could never buy.

A genuine question because I’m open to different opinions – Why do people buy houses?

Renault Clio 197, hideous fuel consumption at circa 28mpg, it’s a ‘get it out if your system car’ that attracts all the wrong attention,

I’d have a listen, Hifi isn’t just about reproduction, every component sound a little different to the last. Take a flask to your local dealer and listen to a few.

Thanks for everyone’s advice, we stayed in Gridleford, visited Chatsworth, Eyam, Bakewell & Monsal Head for a walk. We ate at the Devonshire Arms in Beeley (really good) and Rowleys in Baslow on STW recommendation.

It was fantastic, a brilliant place to visit.

the speedmaster is probably the most robust omega.

I’d have to disagree, mine picked up marks left right and centre just because of its profile, plus the hesalite crystal is a fundamental weak point for general use.

The Seamaster is about as robust as a mechanical watch can get, ETA movement (not made by Omega) so it’ll take a beating. Stop sending it back to omega, find an independent.

Thanks the feedback. We’re going from the end of this month through to mid May. Allowing for the length of the journey we’ll probably look for something mid-sized. Hostels all the way…!

    Thanks again.

I’ve just seen it, I wont venture into details or even offer an opinion for fear of spoiling it for you.

I’d certainly watch it, I’m interested to find out what others think.

Start for a dink in Bacchus (42-48 High Bridge) and pop in to Pani’s Cafe just down the street, it’s not remotely flash but the clientele are a little older, the atmosphere and food is second to none. Assuming you are out to impress it has an air of ‘I’ve bothered to find out and not just flash some cash’

PS. A genuine thanks for the above comments, it’s all taken on board and sometimes a little closer to the reality than I’d like to admit.

This is the first time I’ve even talked about it and frankly when presented with having to confront it I just don’t know what to say, I’m completely drained. Regardless of whether I can deal with it in the long run I want to try and help, when so ‘drops’ she loses a grip on everything, she needs to stop that happening if she want’s to archive the things that motivate her.

Youre spot on saladdodger, she lives in an unnamed north-west city, if you spot a blue Klien ridden by someone in a baseball cap and a tracksuit let the police know…

    Thanks for the feedback.

Someone been lying on job application forms eh?

I promised to help a mate out on a new venture off the back of him being made redundant, the time pressure being that I'm only available for a week from next Wednesday. Thanks for your input.

Brilliant advice, much appreciated, I may send you an email nickhart later in the week if I'm having any trouble. I can't be very exact bout what I need to know just yet so I'll be looking for a general overview of the modeling and alterations processes. Link above bookmarked.

    I'm out of my depth.

The components are about 80x70mm, 1mm thick, very simple, I'd need to produce 10 for about £2.50 for it to be viable (excluding material costs). I'd produce all of the CAD/Modelling and would be looking to start with 2000 or so units.

I'm simply speculating, taking a bit of a risk. Like I said all advice and links/contacts are extremely helpful.

    A sequence of events:

    – Completed second degree in Architecture
    – Shortly after Architecture & Construction folded,
    – Lost job and any prospect of finding a new one in the profession I had invested 7 years of my life and countless thousands of pounds in.
    – Started to work privately, Software licenses, PI insurance (for someone newly qualified) and unqualified (uninsured) competition able to work for less that half the cost saw off that opportunity in a matter of months.
    – A university reunion an the Job Centre.
    – Several hundred applications later I am invited for tests to start a Project Management role within the civil service. Pass. Interview. Offered Job, start date pending. Job canceled.
    – Overqualified and inexperienced in a competitive/flooded job market.
    – I live with my parents
    – I design bespoke quality management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 18001) for less than minimum wage on contract.

I have my health and some pretty bloody brilliant parents.

Woo, local people. Clennell Street is pretty clear at the moment, one gate you may have to traverse on your way North but other than that its fine. Pick up…

Spacemonkey, you do realise you have a powerful weapon at your disposal here? A few years ago there was a national survey to decide the "best" invention/discovery in the history of mankind. Guess what won? Penicillin? Electricity? Nope, the bloody bicycle. Why? Someone linked to the survey from this forum.

So, link us up to the thread in question and watch as the STW masses flood the poor bloke with "helpful" messages.

    This.

A clean criminal record I believe, that's about it.

Assuming you are considering it – Ignore a few of the above, do some research, talk to the AFCO and make your own decision, it isn't for everyone, especially aspiring middle class poverty spec BMW driving screwfix reading dross who spout their inane self important ramblings on here.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for the feedback so far, I've been trying to avoid getting too scientific;

    – I am training for some multi-discipline endurance events
    – I train 6 days a week
    – Due to recovering from IT band problems 5 days are in the gym
    – Approximately 90mins per day are threshold cardio (mainly running) just easing my way back
    – Three/four weights sessions per week predominantly focusing on compound high repetition exercises
    – Core work everyday

I estimate i get between 60-80g of protein from my regular diet per day, i weigh about 70kg. Thanks again.

I find SIS and Promax stuff good.

I've heard that Promax has an undesired effect on your wind levels and concentration? Your experiences?

EDIT: Ahh you've updated and answered my question. Thanks.

Why do you think you need extra protein?

    Because I read the internet.
