Shame on the STW clan, it seems you have let this degenerate into name calling (or at least a few of you have) and it seems to be one way traffic. If you cant make a point that has not already been covered why bother posting. Aggression is in one direction here chaps, sort it out.

MissGulliver – Its potentially a fruitless task scouring the internet putting people right. I too have just looked up the last 5 mins on Iplayer  only to have to switch it off (and i like naked women). This is all a little degrading rather than empowering don’t you think?

Its case and point that most people who heard about this probably skipped right to the end to see a bit of boob.

Good luck with the issues etc…

sodafarls – Re. ‘the fall’ belay that recommendation, i have just wasted two hours on that. I am generally open minded about these sorts of films, but that was awful in almost every way.

    Slumdog was superb though.

Shows what i know! That advert is brilliant, bookmarked in anticipation of future over use :D

I’ll see if I can get him to dig out the drawing and send me an image of it.

    Great.

How’s life treating you up there? We’re seeing the hurt coming.

I signed on last week. In the line i was outnumbered by groups of dark rimmed glasses, black polo necks and moleskin sketch books. Good luck, i think i am going to diversify to carrying a gun in Afghanistan.

LardLover – you road ride round there much, I often see a few cyclists particularly Rothbury – Thropton. If you see a Litespeed Ghisallo around those parts make yourself known :-)

    Interesting responses to my post:

Just to qualify i have had and still have ti bikes, both road and MTB. I obviously agree with the point that construction is 9/10ths the resulting ride characteristics. But, in reality we are talking about microscopic amounts of difference in deflection and absorption between steel, ti, carbon and aluminum in what is essentially a rigid object. When you but Ti you should buy it for ‘prestige’ (for want of a better word), workmanship, operational life (it will last longer) or weight. A frame in each material (car, ti, alu, st), designed specifically for the same purpose – harnessing the particular qualities of each material will perform in almost the same way. The best way to tune a bike to your particular riding requirements is not to throw money at a Ti frame believing it will be a revelation but picking the best setup in terms of tires, stem, bars, forks, matched with a frame that allows for flexibility in you budget to archive the riding characteristics you need.

In short, if you have pots of cash then blow it on a Ti bike with stans wheels and carbon loveliness. If you are working to a budget (albeit a healthy one), you can get the same ride quality for less money spent in the right places.

This is STW, 99.7% of the contributors believe that racing is too mainstream, not vogue.

MMR – Thanks, just a pleasure to ride, you could never call it a race bike just because it sacrifices stiffness for comfort and weight (13.9lbs). One of those bikes you will never sell.

I am with Joe, Its 98.32% in your mind, if you let 2psi out of your tires you’d see a larger difference in performance. Ti bikes, as lovely as they are, are no better/diffent to a well set up Alu bike (say Spesh s-works hardtail), the only difference being bragging rights. Road bikes are a different story.

Ive used WCS ones in the past, but i also found them too fat and they spun round in the rain (never had that problem did you MTT, riding in the rain that is ;0)

    It’s sad because it’s true.

so you want a very ‘lite’ (?) bike for leisure rides only??

why not spend a bit less, get a bike that’s 2lbs heavier and will last twice as long? No idea re. the frame, don’t buy a Merlin though unless your overweight/a London commuter.

Its a superb way to shave off 1/4lbs, I’d take a look at the poshbikes site, they have some ultra thin ones. I have used WCS in the past, cut down with X.O twisters, worked a treat.

    £2799.99

    CLICKY

And £1700 for a Litespeed Lookout Mtn MTB frame which was a mistake; I kitted the rest of the bike to match and consequently never used it, preferring to knock about on a 13 year old Klein. If i was going to buy an MTB again it’d be a no frills full sus, Yeti ASR or a SC SL/Blur.

I don’t like the way this has been played out in the media, primarily because it leads to ‘some’ people questioning the validity of what they hear.

It’s a truly awful thing happening to Jade and her family. Absolutely no satisfaction can be drawn from it regardless of her behavior in the past. If the drug works then that’s bloody excellent.

Don’t worry about it, they are all the same, they add stuff each year to justify the upgrade fee, its rarely useful though.
