Out the station, cross the road up Pink Lane to Town Wall and Forth. Then back along Mosely St admiring the views to Dean Street and down the hill via Crown Posada to the Bridge Tavern. Plenty of food places en-route or a short detour up Grey St. Bridge Tavern food is really good too, but you might want to check last serving times on a Sat night.
Had great fun with an iBert. No probs on a full suss, knee-room probably as good as it gets for front-loaders. You need 2cm worth of spacers on your steerer to clamp it onto.
(Contact me if you want to buy mine – now surplus to requirements).
It gets longer, yes, but not enough to maintain the relative vertical positioning of arse vs hands. To do so the XL would have a head-tube length of 193mm(ish) (versus Medium).
Bike makers are trying to make the same bike with the same characteristics for different size riders – not a range of 4 different bikes for 4 different sizes of rider.
But that’s exactly my point. How can a bike have the same characteristics when for a shortarse the bars are 2″ higher than the saddle, and for a lanky git are 3″ lower?
I’ve used BB7s for yonks but also have hydraulics on other bikes. The BB7s are so simple to maintain and adjust with more than adequate power depending on your rotor size. I got my first set in 2003 and they’re still going strong.
I’d happily do pretty much any kind of riding on the BB7s but my SRAM Guides feel much nicer in terms of modulation and are lighter.
I did 6 months mtb guiding in Colorado/Utah (hello ex-guests!) back in 2003. That was pretty much my dream job, apart from changeover day which was a looong day cleaning toilets etc.
Some people say don’t make your hobby your job. I disagree, and you can always get a new hobby anyway.
Currently into month two of flats on most of my bikes after 20yrs exclusive Time pedals. It’s definitely helped improve my technique. I had the foot lifting off the pedal on steep climbs thing but that seems to be sorted now.
I imagine I’ll use both in future depending on what I’m doing.
Could someone explain (or direct me to an explanation of) the rules for racing as a pair? Do you do alternate laps or can you split the effort however you want?
Used to camp at the Goose Island BLM site beside the river on Highway 128.
Basic but fine. Yes, busy so get there before evening to stake your claim.
I’d seriously recommend riding early / late and avoiding the heat of midday in August!
Check out the Gitpro Git2. Gyro-image stablisation and audio input (along with a great picture up to 2K) sets it apart from most cheapies. Fits GoPro accessories. £105 on Amazon or less if you want to risk it with a Chinese retailer. I just got one and it seems great so far.
I fail to see how having my old house lived-in by three young professionals at a very reasonable rent is somehow contributing to a housing crisis. My old neighbours recently sold theirs and it’s now lived in by a single person instead of a family of four. Which is the better outcome?
I’m a long way from London by the way – the picture is very different across the country.
I’d recommend not using an agent if possible. They are interested in letting the property to get their commission, not necessarily in choosing the right tenants. Do it yourself – follow up on references, do a credit check, Google them.
Renting Out Your Property For Dummies book is a good source of info including sample contracts.
I’m 4 years into letting out my old house and it has been a very positive experience.
Used Malagacar twice recently to drive to Ciclo and back. I would recommend. Got bike + 2 adults + baggage + pushchair + toddler in a Fiat Doblo no probs.
You will be offered extra waiver insurance on the day for total cover. I have usually taken it as it isn’t crazy expensive for peace of mind, but I believe you can buy that kind of thing online separately before you go if you’re organised.
Of concern to me last time coming back from Malaga I was asked to sign some kind of waiver re. my bike that they weren’t responsible for any damage. No such thing on the outward journey. Anyone had similar?
Moving to a lower-rise and wider bar will have brought your weight forward, hence the back end feeling ‘light’.
Shorter stem will help and should be noticeable, and experiment with spacers under the stem if bars feel too low.
There’s a fashion for keeping your front end low, but if you’re a taller rider on typical xc/fr forks it rarely makes sense.
Sedona is great – loads of great riding, spectacular scenery, but local knowledge is always a plus. Seek out Dave Cichan at the Fat Tire Bike Shop – super friendly and helpful.
Yep, this is the second half of series 5, unavailable anywhere until now. We’re getting them the day after broadcast in the States.
We’ve done the DVDs up until now, but couldn’t resist the lure of Netflix for these. Quality was excellent – HD picture of some variety and 5.1 sound.
