Whoever thinks anti-rise isn’t a thing has clearly never ridden a Klein Mantra! 🙂

It’s like they want you to try MyWhoosh. Definitely going to check it out now.

As Wiggle and CRC are gone I’ve removed the pages I made for tracking stock, I hope they were useful while they lasted.

Since a few people seemed to like it, I’ve applied the ultra-simple interface to Leisure Lakes here:

As requested I’ve added CRC stock too: https://www.mtbroutes.com/crc/in-stock.php

In theory yes, similar feed. Got to get the dinner on though just now 🙂

Please bear in mind the stock levels are not real-time! Updated every evening.

I knocked up this web page for checking on the latest Wiggle/CRC reductions and stock levels. Updates at 7.15pm daily. (*uses affiliate links, probs will never get paid though!)

How about a 1998 Klein Mantra. I tried desperately to love it given the amount of cash it cost me, but it was an absolute death-trap. Unified-rear-triangle “suspension” meant that whenever you stood on the pedals and un-weighted the seat, the whole thing shortened and tried to tip you out the front door.

Getting a bit wintery up in the Rockies by then. Fruita is a bit nearer than Moab and quite spectacular.

Got a SNAIL off Amazon and it’s been absolutely fine.

Just a heads-up for those that don’t know, 9(!) bikes were stolen from Rosetta camp site the night before the Glentress 7 the other weekend, and 2 were stolen at the actual race (as far as I know). Don’t leave your bikes unattended anywhere!

3rd time in a pair for me. Really love the vibe and the course – bring it on!

A friend has a spare pairs entry (both riders) – if anyone’s interested drop me a line.

The green is perfectly doable with a Weehoo if that helps!

I don’t know what you’re asking either, but toslink is optical – nothing to do with 3.5mm.

Is the 3.5mm ‘adaptor’ you mention actually an S/PDIF output?

Yup, one HDMI cable should be sufficient between the amp and TV. The one marked ARC on the TV is an ‘in’ for picture and sound but also an ‘out’ for sound.

Extra box for the mic, guitar, headphones etc. A USB keyboard is fine straight in.

We have a wooden Early Rider which was a big hit with both kids. Being wooden and light (relatively furniture-friendly) we are happy to have it lying around indoors, so it probably got more use than a chunkier metal one would have. My daughter especially loved doing circuits of the dining room table, and even though they’re both on pedal bikes now it regularly gets played with around the house.

The ‘extra hop’ through a USB interface is insignificant in the great scheme of things. The gains come through a chip and driver architecture that is dedicated to providing (near) real-time audio.

Yeah, midi keyboard is fine, but you do really need a proper interface or soundcard.
The Behringer U-Phoria UM2 is only about £30. Add an XM8500 mic (surprisingly good) for £16 and a secondhand midi keyboard and you might just do it!
I don’t know about ‘simple’ software though. There must be something out there I guess!

If going down the PC route you’ll need a decent soundcard or USB interface to plug the midi keyboard into and act as a pre-amp for the microphone. It will also allow you to use software instruments (of which there are many free ones) without unusably long latency (ie. the time between you pressing the keyboard and a sound coming out).
Behringer kit is cheap and cheerful. £75 is gonna be tight though!
You’ll need interface, mic, cable, midi keyboard.
Edit: I see you stated USB mic and keyboard. While that would solve the connectivity, you will probably still have latency problems if you’re using a bog standard in-built PC soundcard. You might possibly get away by installing something called Asio4all which replaces the default sound driver with something more geared for real time recording.

    Don’t forget the thick/thin chainring.
I tried one of the cheapie 8 quid jobs via Amazon (SNAIL) and it’s fine.

Many posts on FB and the like relating to Steels never having been the friendliest shop – in recent times I have to agree. I used to use them reasonably often when they were in the previous premises on the corner, but once they became a Specialized Concept Store there was very little stock of any interest, and never the stuff you really needed (for mtb at least).

Start Cycles had the Adidas Terrex Trail Cross for £80 in store today. Great shoe.

Edit: looks like £90 online, but Newcastle store had the blue in store for £80.

Stick with it. Been through it myself – it gets better! Now 100% flat after 20+yrs on spds, and I think it’s made me a better rider.
