Apologies if this has already been covered, but has anyone seen the new mountain and gravel bike updates?

I tried the TP link 2240s to get internet to my powered shed…couldn’t get them to work anywhere in the house, never mind the shed. I could connect to them, but got no internet (probably something I did wrong).

I’m now using a NetGear booster/repeater which worked within 5 mins of setting up.

They have 29cm wheels, so are effectively 29ers?

I’ve had a few do that to me too…however I very much don’t feel the need insult them.

For the others, light the candle first, the heat from that should expand the lid enough to hand-unscrew off

With all the talk of racing on here I thought I’d get in on the action so I took a half day off at work full of excitement.

I chose a relatively short race to get my eye in. I went to my shed (where my turbo is) about 20 minutes early to get warmed up etc

In summary, I would recommend the following go eat a bag of d*cks
    – Apple, for not recognising my phone as a suitable hot spot connection, even though my phone had awesome signal
    – TACX, for creating a turbo trainer which is programmed to think it is socially acceptable to disconnect while on zwift
    – Three, for also loosing connection 20 seconds before race start
    – Zwift, for being so addictive I’m ranting online because I couldn’t go on a virtual bike ride

Not really adding much to the party here, but I’ve got a smart turbo trainer as an early Christmas present…I’m absolutely loving Zwift, I’ve don’t more activities in the past 4 days than the past month.

Only done workouts so far, but at some point I’ll join a group ride or race.

Only problem is I’m using an old mountain bike that I couldn’t sell for £100, how long before I get competitive and buy bigger gears etc?

You can’t flame a company on social media for following their terms and conditions (or most other companies for that matter). I appreciate its bad for you, but that’s what you agreed to when you ticked the box.

Best bet is to contact them by email and see if they can give you a discount if you come back.

    Hope your kid’s alright

Oh aye, that’s the name of it

If you have a GPS you could find the moors and shores route from one of the past years. The route is in and around Dalby, but not the red route…canny distance too.

There the old railway line from Scarborough to Whitby, about the right distance and great views?

Ah, strange then that the Tacx website advised it, didn’t seem to make it any worse fortunately.

Pressures I’ve tried range from 30-100psi.

By the sounds of things, isopropyl alcohol is the way to go…cheers all

You can get a seal kit from a few places (TF Tuned and Bike Discount spring to mind). Also SRAM have put service instructions on YouTube.

The service itself is a bit fiddly, but relatively easy with the correct tools and equipment, but if it’s under warranty I’d take it straight back…no point voiding it

Cheers for all your assistance, but a Concept 2 isn’t something I can justify purchasing right now.

I’ll have a think on my next move, whether I should get a cheap rower on a lead in approach, I.e. get a cheap 2nd hand to prove I’ll use it, then get a better one from there…or just not bother with one at all.

    Cheers

A concept 2 would be the great, however I was planning on going on the lower end of the price range…i.e £150 max.

I take it the cheaper rowers are a bit “flimsy”?

Normally I really like black mirror, but Bandersnatch and the latest series left me a bit cold and unenthralled.

Also didn’t seem to be that boundary pushing, thought provoking and borderline lazy.

    Interesting post.

If we’re you I’d get a normal bike and ride them alternatively, just so you’ll reappreciate the benefit of the ebike and fill the enjoyment hole you have.

Ah that’s reassuring longdog. I do believe that a wider shed would be better, I just need to figure out how.

I’ll take heed to the floor warnings mind and make sure I have adequate strength under foot. The shed and decking will all be on the same frame, so I’ll probably sink a few extra posts as well as more framework.

    Thanks all

I’ll be building the shed from scratch so I can make it as high as needed.

Fair point on the turbo, I’ll measure it up and see how much room I need.

    mtbqwerty
    Full Member

Yeah, I was thinking it would be a bit ‘close’.

The shed will be built on a frame, so I was going to put in more framework and a thicker floor sheet.

I’m not planning on installing a squat rack, or anything like that, just a bar for deadlifts

I got a day release to do an MSc. You’ll find you spend surprisingly little time at uni doing uni work, as a large proportion of it is self learning.

I’m glad I did it when I didn’t have a girlfriend/wife and kids, as I can imagine it’ll be tough. I know a few people dedicated evenings and weekends to doing uni work when the kids were asleep.

I’d recommend only doing it if you think you’ll benefit from getting a degree
