Riding: loads, absolutely loads. Guisborough, Errington, NY Moors, Dalby, Hamsterley etc.

Schools: yep, we have them. Not much choice really, and no idea how good/bad they are

Flats = “minor” and multiple flesh wounds

    Clips = everything else

Fell off reasonably well with clips, jiggered my knee because I was still attached.

Do they have a lot of large chainrings in stock?

I used to use a 36t chainring back in the day. Down to 32t now…definitely weaker now, so probably be some truth to it.

Whether or not that’s adaptation or preference is another matter

When I build the bike I loosely throw everything together so see how it looks, sit on it, realise it’s all loose and tighten, do a test ride then forget.

1-2 years later I may move a spacer around after something pops up on YouTube telling me it’s remarkably better to be higher/lower. I try it, can’t tell the difference, forget and repeat 1-2 years later.

    Still loving mine.

Cracked out some longer rides last summer (even did double Dalby on it), then became my go to bike over winter, and did everything great and practically faultless, especially when I treated it to a grippier front tyre and longer dropper. All set up as a not-light but half decent trail bike.

Currently getting gravel curious, so may get a lighter wheel set & tyres to scratch the itch…not sure how much scratching it would provide, but worth a go.

    Bought mine frame only

What would kicking off at a bike shop achieve, they don’t control covid, Brexit or the Suez Canal.

If you don’t want it, give them a bell and be polite.

Had my AZ jab yesterday lunchtime…31 year old.

Felt fine during the day but absolutely awful night, feverish, headaches, the usual…will see what today brings, hopefully it doesn’t last for weeks!

Edit to mine…it was bigger than that…15mm axle derr

    1/2” sch40…ID = 15.76mm

I’ve made one…3/4” sch 80 seamless pipe (leaves an ID of around 14.5mm) cut to size and clamped onto a wooden block with pipe clamps.

Guessing the plastic pipe you get on some rockshox forks (other manufacturers available) would be better.

N.b. Mine is on a plank which goes in my Yeti, so I need straps to keep it upright, and the 2.5mm clearance between the axle and bore isn’t noticeable.

I have the same mech as you and happily running a 11-42 Sunrace cassette without any add-ons.

    Can’t comment on a 46T though

Has anyone said get a tow rope yet?

Least they could do is give you a winch up the steep stuff

This race series is great, full credit to the organiser, Robbo…it’s the kick I need to get the fitness back on track.

Hopefully this round I won’t be asleep and fall off the back before the race starts

Awesome race their folks, from my vantage point I have no idea how close it was…barely finished.

Also apologies to Welch chap Mat, the “mmm” was a result of sweaty fingers on the screen, not a reaction to seeing your butt up ahead

Have I read Spooky_b329’s comment wrong, or has everyone skipped over it?

I hope it gets resolved with all parties happy.

Can’t add anything constructive, but I would advise not doing what my coworker did for a 2nd screen for his MacBook.

Went into pc world/curry’s, spoke to the assistant on his needs, got sold a ‘Monitor’ for £1000+, thought it was strange it came with a keyboard and mouse, called IT tech support twice because his monitor didn’t respond to the MacBook inputs.

It was only when he asked in the office the next Monday we highlighted the error…fortunately the snakes at PC World/Curry’s gave him a refund.

Finally got mine out for a 20 mile test ride today…bloody brilliant bike.

The rear brake mount is a bit awkward to get to, but other than that no complaints that my fault.

    My 2p.

How long will the sister company continue to provide loan after loan to keep your employer afloat? Is your employer integral to their operation, or are they being ‘nice’? To put it bluntly, how secure is your job?

How much work is being asked to be carried out at work, is it the odd hour here or there, or full time activities? If I were being paid 80% of my salary, working full time I’d be rather miffed. If they are just asked to do a couple of hours, I appreciate it’s against the furlough rules, but it’s not as morally bad.

As your employer is in a rural area, is it eligible for grants from the government to keep afloat?

Quite a healthy distance to test the bike…hopefully mine will be rolling by next weekend, especially since it doesn’t seem like a bad peddler.

Glad I kept my chain stay protector now though.

I wore a mask for the first time in a shop yesterday…got a few looks, but more space which was nice.

I felt a bit like a tool tbh…but I’d rather look like a tool than be a dick for killing someone by being an asymptomatic carrier.

My bet would be that a gearbox and motor would have the same attachment, and so (battery mount aside), one frame could do both and significantly the development cost.

    ….then gearboxes will come in

    Cheers for the responses.

It’s nice to see that even after having the bike for a while you still like it, damascus.

Finally got my financial donor bike sold so we’re golden in filling in the missing parts, fortunately it’s only a drivetrain and brakes/brake callipers if I use my M665 levers…unfortunately though I can’t have all the shipments sent to work so the other half sees how many parts are needed for a “cheap build”

Anyone ridden their new scandal yet?

My build is going slowly and expensively…and I’m having doubts I should’ve got the Big Dog.

Please can someone give me the inspiration to get it finished?

Interesting…I’ve been on a 5:2 diet since before Christmas, and cut out meat during the week since the new year, rather than ramble on I’ll keep it brief.

    – The 5:2 is great (for me), I feel lighter and fresher etc, and I’ve been successfully loosing weight. However one thing to note is that its not recommended for diabetics, however research suggests it does increase your sensitivity to insulin, so I don’t know how it would work for your OH.
    – The fast diet is essentially 5:2, however you have 800 calories for the first 2 weeks, then carry on with the 5:2, only having 800 calories. The reason for this is in the first 2 weeks, you’ll get motivated by the rapid loss, and the extra 300 calories over the 5:2 has roughly the same effects, only you won’t be as hangry.
    – I’m also doing a bit of 16:8…also works great and you feel great.
    – Finally cutting out meat makes a huge difference to my perceived endurance, I feel much more energised on longer rides.
    – No notable loss in fitness on rides, and strength seems to have gone up.

N.B. I may be wrong on some of the fast diet info, but this is how I interpret it from YouTube interviews with Dr Michael Mosley.

If it needs a service, it’s not an overly complicated procedure (if you have the correct equipment).

RockShox have released videos on how to do it on YouTube too.
