Any details of when they are riding each trail?

You need to push the pistons back, but you might need to let some of the brake fluid out as Avid either overfill the resivour, or spec thinner pads than OEM.
I have had to remove a bit of fluid when doing the first pad change in the past.

Although you can start from either car park, IMO it is best to start from Abergorlech as you end by doing the Red descent, which is the best bit.

Although facilities at both car parks are limited to say the least, there is at least a very nice pub at Abergorlech which serves food 12-3 in the afternoons.
Time is hard to give without knowing fitness. But doing both trails takes me slightly longer than doing Skyline @ Afan, if you have done that before.

I have a roadrat, running BB7’s with 28c tyres. Tonnes of miles and never had a problem.

I was loving it right from the start, but the tree flip was a genuine “Oh my god, what the !!” moment.

I use one on the road bike and find it really comfy. Carbino version, which is really light too. 160g odd grams.

I also have one of the old ones in genuine gel, which has to be the comfiest saddle ever.
New one is almost as comfy, but that might just be because it hasn’t done the tens of thousands of miles that the old one has done.

For the money I don’t think they can be beaten, but the dhb Knowle shorts are simply amazing. They are a totally different level of performance – and price.

I’d love to see you ride round Brechfa on a CX bike.
Please let me know if you do, so I can follow you laughing as you walk/puncture/crash your way round.

    KMC make Shimano chains.

Doesn’t mean they are the same though. I was snapping SRAM and Shimano chains before I made the switch to KMC. Not had one snap since.

    Try KMC X9.93

Can also check Sapim Race, pretty much the same as rev’s I got them on one bike and rev’s on the other.

I was under the impression that Sapim Race spokes were similar to DT Comp and Sapim Laser spokes were like Revs?

To answer the OP. If your lighter rider and looking to save weight, then go for Revs. If you don’t mind an extra 60g or so, then comps will be better.

I use Revolution spokes and find them great, although they do tend to start snapping after about 2 years of hard use.

Maybe your riding is to blame rather than the trail.
Any fairly good rider would be able to make full use of the berms. The jumps take some practice to get right, but with practice (or skill) they are all good.

I have no idea what your on about to be honest. Not sure you have ridden the same trail as me.

I think you would need to use the spacer tube from a road BB, or just use them without.

MTB BB is designed for 68/73mm + E-type mech, so longer to accomodate that. Road is just 68mm with no spacers.

High 4:1 on long rides (4hrs+), Energy Source on shorter ones.

Both fantastic, easy on the stomach, nice taste and works brilliantly.

I had an Alu version a few years back. Nice all-round bike. Capable of doing a bit of everything.

Don’t see the point in a Ti version. No advantages over the Alu frame, apart from the show off factor.

    I’d go for Sport phil.
It is pretty quick at the front, but there is usually a good range of fitness, you will be fine. Your right in that you can do 1 race without a licence.

Open cat isn’t as quick, and sometimes do a lap less as well.

The top picture is the old version, the bottom the 2008/2009 version.

The difference between Evo and non-Evo is to do with compounds.
Evo uses triple compound, where as the non-evo is just one compound all over. The evo version is better, and obviously more expensive.

The newer version is a much better tyre on the front. The older tyre used to wash out on loose ground far easier. I’d go for the new version every time.

Scott scales are quite harsh for a carbon frame, they are built for stiffness and lightweight.
That said, they are still more comfortable than most alu frames.

Other manufacturers, Merida being one of them are built a little heavier, still being stiff but more comfortable.

As a very generalised remark, the lighter the carbon frame, the more harsh the ride.

Ceramics have the gunmetal tube between the bearings.
Thats the only way to tell without opening the caps.

Chris King Alu cogs are nice and wide. Being aluminium, they don’t dig in as much as steel cogs and last much longer than you might expect.

    Surly Singulator here. Works well.
Tried a Trickstuff Excentricker before and that was a disaster.

Anyone got a web link or contact phone number for High Rigg campsite?
I must admit I thought camping was Fri and Sat.

Later in the year Rob is aiming to beat his own South Downs Way Double record as well.

Rob doesn’t hold the “record” for the SDD.

I dont get that mtbmatt? I have the EP3 Type R 52 plate

Perhaps its just a joke that ITR owners know. EP3 aka “bread van”.

You can fit a towbar to the ITR if that interests you at all. I had one for a while and loved it. But not big enough for me.

Which CTR do you have? The EP3 IS a van, so must be a different model? :P

There are no roads with public access to get you anywhere near the top of the climbs.

I use Udderly Smooth and its fantastic.
Not had any saddle problems in any 12/24hr race I’ve done.

Used Assos before, which was good. But Udderly Smooth is better.
Sudocream is a treatment, and works well. But its not a chamois cream, so only use it afterwards.

34:18 works well as a compromise gear on my 29er – same as 32:14 with kiddie wheels.

By kiddies wheels I am guessing your talking about 24″ wheels? Because its nowhere near the same if you mean 26″ wheels.

Northwave are quite generous in sizing, both width and length.
I use Lizards and they are really comfy.

For me a 41 Northwave is far more spacious than a 41 Shimano. Slightly wider than a Specialized 41 as well.

Summer[/url] bikes look good. Spec seems good for the money.

A little over £500 (retail), but the Fever is worth a look.

SS is always a bit of a compromise, so what might work going uphill wont be ideal on the flat.

Personally I’d rather spin fast and not go that fast when on flat ground and be able to get up most hills.

33:16 for me. Seems to work well on the routes I ride.

dhb size up similar to Shimano, although I’m not sure if you have your Specialized/Shimano sizing the right way round.

    I had some Specialized’s in a 41, which feels simialr to a 42 Shimano.
Might be an idea to order 2 sizes, and send one back?

Paid up and looking forward to it :)
Didn’t see the bit about adding my name, address, t-shirt size and whatever else…
I guess it wont matter as my name/address will be attached to it anyway.

if you want to lose fat then you need to do two things, run your blood sugar right down without going anaerobic, stay under 60% of your max heart rate, and you need to burn more than you eat.

Quite a lot of BS already on this thread, but that takes the biscuit.

Running your blood sugar down means you will go into a state of Hypoglycaemia, which is potentially very dangerous.

To burn fat you need carbohydrate (glycogen in liver/muscles), as even the most efficient fat burning excersizes will use MORE carbohydrate than fat. If you have very little carbohydrate present your body will stop using carbohydrate AND fats and start breaking down muscle protein.

Some of the XTR disc pads have a titanium backing, which shoots the price up.
Don’t think the compound is different enough (if at all?) to quantify the price difference from other models.

If you fancy them for the weight saving then Kool-Stop do aluminium backed pads which are much cheaper.

Northwave are good for wide feet, they are slightly wider than Specialized BG shoes. Shimano are slightly narrower and SIDI are narrower again.

The only shoe I know that will be wider than Northwave are SIDI MEGA shoes. They are much wider than the standard sidi size, but only made for a few models.

    I’ve used the 2.0″ version.
They are very fast and grippier than you would think.

They are a good summer tyre on the rear. Not sure I’d want to use one on the front as its very rounded.
