I've always used DC shoes for riding, and am currently on a pair of Centers.
They grip nice and are comfortable to wear with the pedals I use. I went down the same route – couldn't justify spending on 5:10s and found some DC's cheap and haven't regretted the decision once.

If the gun is pointing horizontally then the bullet will travel in an arc.
So the bullet dropped from the same height will hit the floor first as its velocity is in only one direction whereas gravity has to overcome the lateral velocity of the bullet.
(Disclaimer – I haven't a clue to be fair and am blagging it going on the long range rifle shooting I did many moons ago.)

Is the gun on a conveyor belt?

    Definitely option 1.
Who gives a monkeys on weight and other stuff, especially when they're out exercising, possibly in an effort to shed a few pounds.

I hate to say it but the trail centre "community" is seriously getting too far up its own "elitist" backside. And that is my opinion from various experiences I've had around Dalby recently. The funniest one was in the Dalby Dare at the weekend, where we were giving some encouragement to the riders getting up the slab, and one rider told us in no uncertain terms to go f^%&* ourselves! 😆

Everything reopens from tomorrow I think, to allow all the field to be cleaned and infrastructure time to clear up any odds and ends.

This weekend will be stupidly busy on the trails!

They're just going to merge it in with the existing to give options for riders as they ride the red/black routes.

Great photos there Dave, hope you enjoyed the motivational "abuse" we marshals and the spectators were dishing out at the slab 😆

There's new stuff, such as the boardwalk sections, Adderstone complex and Medusas drop complex (which have been cheekily ridden since waaaay before last years British Mountain Bike Series test round)and the rest is existing red and black trails.

I understood the deal was for 3 years, but the UCI Technical Director was commenting on bidding for the rounds up to 2012 on the Freecaster coverage…?

All of the World Cup course will be merged into the current red and black trails.

No, I only glimpsed that in passing on the way back to the volunteers tent yesterday.
I was more interested in trying to blag a carbon Merida frame 😆

Diane, they're tagged on to the first set – I was marshalling the same position on day 2 so they're pretty much the same sort of shots.

Today, I got moved and only managed to get some of the Pro womens race – the crowds got a bit too manic for the mens race so didn't get any slow periods to take any photos which I'm a bit disappointed about, as the crowds were needing a lot more attention than usual.

Big props to the dutch womens rider who got a crowd member to help her pop her dislocated shoulder back in! I would probably be on the floor whimpering. 😳

Pffff – Katherine O'Shea is where the actions at for me!

They're thinking of rotating me today, so hopefully I'll get a decent photo op place and try my best for you pervs 😆

    Nice set 🙂

Yeah that rider took one hell of a smack so fingers crossed she'll recover quickly.

I've uploaded a few more pics today, it was nice and sunny for once!

Dalby Dare was as expected, a lot of people were stalling on the slab causing a snarl up but that resolved itself as people got spread out after the first lap.
We also had a lot of carnage, too many mechanicals to list after catching rocks with rear mechs, but the stand out was the epic inner tube explosion – the tube ended up with a good 12" split.

Massive healing vibes go out to the 2 girls that had bad crashes at Medusa's Drop and our marshal point. Hope you both have a speedy recovery!

Yeah the faster riders had enough momentum to boost out of the top and get some air. Absolom was flying!
I noticed a few 29s going round, so they must be allowed.

I'm in the same marshalling position again today, should be fun, especially as it's Dalby Dare race day and the majority of the dare riders got stuck near the top.

Hopefully I'll get some more photos today, the position is a little restricted for variety though.

I'll shout "C'mon Dave! every time a baggy shorts wearing rider passes my marshalling station. Reckon I'll get some funny looks 😆

    Moi.

3 Days of marshalling. The only real work we'll have is with the citizens race, everything else will be akin to spectating 🙂

    Yep.
But whereabouts in Cropton are you staying?
If you're at Muffles or Keldy, then head into Stape then follow the main road to Seavy Slack then hang a left onto a forest road down to Low Raindale and Yorfalls wood. Turn right once you hit the tarmacced section of the forest drive then folow it to Levisham Station. Keep following the road up and out to Levisham and then to Lockton. Once in Lockton, head to the main road A169 and then cross over and down a farm track which brings you out at Low Staindale, then follow the forest drive up to Adderstone and the event village.

Thats the "quick" route, if you want more scenic, there's plenty of routes to follow and OS Landranger Map 94 is your friend 🙂

Judging by the amount of big travel bikes and full face helmets about at Dixons Hollow yesterday whilst we were clearing out for a new pump track, then yes you do. 😆

There is a very short official downhill further along in the forest that is fun on a downhill bike but its too short and crap to be honest.

There's plenty of off piste stuff that's great fun on a downhill bike though.. 😉

Fine beans, sugar snaps, mange tout, babycorn….

I work for a wholesaler and we couldn't get hold of these at all on Saturday so it doesn't bode well for this week at all.

I get bored easily so I've a number of things to keep me occupied.
I like military aviation and that ties in nicely with my volunteering as an adult instructor for the Air Training Corps, so I've got all the activities that they're able to do to keep me occupied as well.
Outside of that, there's my 2 year old son to keep me busy 😀

    I enjoyed it.
But more importantly, in the after episode preview, why does the Dalek have a Union Jack flag on it?!?!?

Can't wait for that episode! 😀

Wow those prices are silly cheap! The wholesaler I work for is struggling to find any prices lower than £15 a box at the moment! (Roughly works out at around £1 a kilo wholesale price)

I've still got the frame, although a little worse for wear in my shed, just can't find a rear shock unit to fit it 🙁

    Mine looks nice.
Other than that, I haven't really felt any difference between that and the SRAM chain I used to run.
Apart from the fact it was part of the STW prize from a while back

Happens all the time with the trail building in Dalby.
You'll never ever get a complete closure as some total knob will always ride down the closed route – as has been said before, they think it's their God given right even though they've had sweet **** all to do with the building.

You even get it on under construction sections which obviously are nowhere near being finished and don't actually go anywhere.

I used to take great pleasure, when we were building Crosscliffe section in Dalby, when asked where the trail went, answering with "back the way you've come, didn't you see the **** signs!?!" I doubt they'd learn from it though…

Don't expect to ride any of the world cup course near Dixons Hollow.
The rest of the red route should be okay.
I might see you up there, providing I can get my brakes sorted.
(Stupidly managed to destroy my pads and a rotor last Tuesday 😳 )

Black holes are more numerous than you would think…

There's one under every fridge freezer in a mountain bikers kitchen and thre's one in every washing machine, although these are quite weak and collapse on themselves after devouring a single sock….

Couldn't say, I was planning on doing the same but if that section is still closed I may just head on up to Dixons Hollow area and have a mess about instead.

It has been pouring down most of the day today in the Pickering area so expect a lot of water in Dalby tomorrow. If that's the cause of the diversions due to water run off, I would expect it still to be closed.

Or if I want to do the whole of the red route I'll use my GT hardtail.

What's the "legal" difference between a footpath and a pavement then?

(just to open up another can of worms) 😉
