Love manitous, have had multiple sets over the years including a set of Travis on the Dh bike that were set up buttery smooth after I cracked the lowers!

Had a set of Mattocs for 4 or 5 years now, never really set them up properly but still great.

Anyone found a decent mudguard to fit the reverse arch?

I bought a forerunner 35 under the deal for £70 before realising you can’t seem to get replacement straps that aren’t rubber/silicon. I’m allergic to something in the standard straps so always change.

Not even opened the box, anyone want to buy it for the same price before I send it back for a refund? Think they are back up to 90 now.

    Thanks

    Simon

My friend and I are heading up soon, armed with wellies and waterproofs for the fan zone.

Any recommendations for places to watch in the town?

I had this issue a few years back looking for thicker grips for riding the redbull foxhunt on a hardtail.

bought these raceface grips as they were the thickest id found at 33mm diameter used for the event and then took off. Still have them if you are interested the lockrings are just a bit marked.

doctor gave me odoban ages ago and you put it on the night before then wash off in shower, use daily for a week or two then just once or twice a week after and it works a treat.

    can get it on amazon

The sentiers are great bikes, I have a 2016 VRS and I ride it everywhere like a DH bike and it has taken everything I have thrown at it including the 2015 redbull foxhunt where I hit everything without a worry and I am no light rider at 18st!

Combine that with a 5 year frame warranty and the fact it is designed by the same guys who make nukeproofs.

    Do it!

    I bought these:

I am often changing van keys etc in work and it is easier to just unclip my keyrings etc with one of these, also have one to hold my torch etc onto my own car keys for easy access.

Id be up for this if I am free! only been here a few months so I have only ridden the trail centre stuff… also would be at the back as I have a lack of fitness! You’ll need at least one token irish person on the ride!

I’ve my ticket booked for telford at the end of the month. My old boss saw one of his talks at a meeting and said he was very good.

I really enjoyed his books so I’d say its worth a trip up the road for an evening rather than vegetating in front of the laptop or tv!

Prawny – Not too sure, I dont start until the 14th Dec and will be working under compliance.

Aye did a bit more reading up about Cannock on MTBR and seems like a good place to start, just looking forward to getting over now. Have to book a boat etc this week and the flights back home for xmas.

    Gunna be an expensive month!

Cheers Gav, sounds good but will probably be the new year before I get round to bikes!

Yep would plan to drive to work mainly because I’m lazy in the mornings! The house I’m looking at is offering a month trial so will let me work out where I want to live really and search for somewhere while I’m actually over there.

I’m still currently in Northern Ireland so apart from Walsall city centre and green lane that’s the lot I’ve seen.

Luckily I don’t mind driving to ride mountain bikes as its all I’ve ever done and it will give me a chance to explore!

I don’t mind rough areas as I lived in Liverpool as a student and my local town in N.I isn’t exactly paradise as they are fond of the odd summer riot!

@mattbee – Will be working for South Staffs Water, Green Lane.

@Malvern rider – Don’t Tempt me, a CX/Gravel disc road thing is on the want list and the new job does ride to work.

By the looks of things I might end up in Shelfield for a bit til i find my feet but my head and all your advice is telling me to move towards Cannock when I can.

Was just in Walsall for a day for my interview and there wasnt much to see but moving here is my chance to get back across the water into a degree field job so I will take it as it comes! Getting out on the bike will keep me busy so it will be grand. I have friends dotted about around Coventry and Bristol so will doing a lot of visiting.

Also looks like I will be moving in 2 weeks rather than the new year so it is all go from here!

Thanks for he honest advice! I’m glad there is a good range of stuff close round, although my preferred choice is the downhill stuff I will give anything a try as I don’t mind a bit of xc stuff to get the legs spinning.

A bit of a roadie when the notion is there and it’s a good way to see the world!

I’ll probably end up living in Walsall to start and find my feet then shift after a few months, looking like the new year at the moment so may well ask for some trail guidance in the new year!

Ah good good! I’m looking forward to a change of scenery and some new riding spots. Had a look at Cannock both to live near and for the riding! Busting to get down to bike park wales and revolution as the boats are too expensive for a trip over from N.I!
