Try tapping a slightly bigger allen key or torx head into the rounded hole first. Its worked for me a few times

    Tried – Failed

Then use torx bolts when you put it back together so you don't have to go through this nonsense again

    Sounds a most sensible idear

cut a groove across the head of the bolt and use a screwdriver

I am loving the simplicity of that. What to use to cut the groove?

Advances search – 1 year – "nevis range red"

Ahhh… now I see. I have been searching everything within the past month. No wonder I find very little. I am pleased to be enlightened, many thanks 😀

Innerleithen XC, far more satisfying of the two.

Although the climbs a bitch at Innerererleithen the descent far outweighs it. GT is a little too bitty for my liking, lots of little sections strung together as apposed to a nice complete ride.

    Send it back

Can I do this even though I bought them ages ago and don't have the receipt anymore.

slw what would you recommend replacing them with? I have enjoyed the size of the pedals as I have pretty big feet and found the adjustable pins good for when it is wet and muddy out.

Personally I would suggest the Black at Kirroughtree or alternatively the Innerleithen XC followed by a spot of lunch and then Glentress Red in the afternoon.

The magnet mounts on the spokes and the receiver-e-thinga-me-bob attaches around the lowers on the suspension. So the movement in the suspension doesn't affect it

Do a tour of Scotland and hit the 7stanes for a few days and then head north and ride Laggan Wolftrax, Moray Monster Trails, Lochgilphead Fire Tower Trails, Fort Bill and Nevis Red route.

If you want something a bit different then check out some of the islands for great trails on Skye, N.Harris and some goat tracks on Arran.

Call it the grand tour of Scotland
Go home and tell everyone how epic it was and never go to Switzerland again, instead choose dreich, windy Scotland as the better alternative!

Schleck lost the yellow on the descent though, not the climb/chain shipping incident. Contador will be buying Sanchez a drink or too later!

    Manual off the top.

What that man said. Manual through the dip before the coping and then suck up the drop, race stylee. Making it a little smaller and hopefully stoping the bike bucking you over the front. Hitting things with pace too seems to mean they don't take so long to get through and go smoother than you thought, look bigger/further ahead.

Dum sideline question: what are 5.10's? What makes them so good?

    Joolz

5.10s are a brand of shoe. They make shoes with a super sticky sole for riding flats. They also have inners made from cardboard and soak up so much water they become massive swing weights on the end of your legs! In dry conditions for the first few rides before they start falling apart they are great though.

that you can 'get a pump off'. If you're not sure what that means, let us know.

I have no idea what it means!

Think of pumping as working the back sides of the bumps. That period where naturally the bike will go light and the suspension will extend. Instead of floating over these bits of terrain, stretch down into them by extending legs(thus keeping good pedal contact) and arms and you will get a boost of speed, essentially using gravity and body position to work/milk the transition. It can be great fun and makes you look at the trail in a new light, the up ramps and lips can be sucked up in preparation for working the back side of the bump. With the good contact and traction it is a nice place to throw in a few little carves too…

Looking forward to quicker handling and a livelier front end due to a 70mm stem on the way to replace the 120mm one that is currently making my bike feel like a tanker.

Currently just use Finishline but would be interested to try Squirt as it seems to be much better from above reveiws. Where can I get my hands on a tester?

So no-one has a shitty local shop then?

I do. I will ride past 5 shops to get to my LBS. How many peoples local bike shop is actually their closest bike shop?

Got a set of Bontrager Race Lite grips here with only the one locking nut on the inside. Find it loads more comfortable than the double lock on, for the outside of my hands. Has reduced my hand pump on downhills noticably and I dont seem to get any twist in them at all which was my concern originally.

If the inevitable has happened and you are on the way OTB then worth trying to relax and drop your shoulder, tuck and roll. Of course this is how every one of my falls goes 😕 I dont know about anyone else but the majority of falls happen before I realise, my first thought being Ouch!

    The Bicycle Works – Edinburgh

Very small shop with workshop/mechanic working right in the centre of shop. Gear all over the walls and hard to make sense of where stuff is and what they actually have. That said, the guys were great and they charge a lot less labour costs than some of Edinburghs bigger bike shops.

Is it a requirement to wear cycling socks pulled right up? I have seen a lot of pros rocking this look, is it a function or fashion thing
