am with WCA on beating. Also with the present unemployment figures wages are getting lower. Soon we’ll all be middle class lazy gits who can’t clean up after ourselves.

Mrnutt is right with some points we will be on the banned list next if we do not have a voice against “the ramblers”. We are no different to the 4×4 people, we ride illegal routes and do loads of damage that is difficult to justify to a red socky person. We know that most of us have used that bit of footpath that we should not use. We do need to be careful who we condem, instead perhaps looking for the common good that would protect our access. Your average walker is also part of the damage problem, take a look at the Pennine way 30ft wide in places due to the boots getting round bog thing. If we use the contryside we all make a bloody mess. It’s the human way. Anyway I thought the countryside was a work place not play area.

I don’t remember everything being so brown, that viva could have at least been lemon yellow with a black vinyl room, not seen anyone in red 4″ stacked heeled with gold stars on (I had some, blame bowie). Punk rock saved me from a life multi coloured tank tops and 30″ wafters. Man I was in me prome then.
Good good program, I remember the ripper stuff really well as everyone got questioned at work, some thing to do £ note serial numbers I think, scary times. Brilliant.
Parts of Ossett really are to rough for the worst shots of the program.

Where is rudeboy, when I’m in a wet liberal mood. That deportation queue does it stop at an airport or an oven? Now then Deadlydarcy, as I note on the day the Facistograph was one of the few papers not to carry the story on the front page.

I’ll take both ways, pass me coat.

Seriously both are good, look were you want to go first. Ambleside to Wilfs cafe at Staveley with Garburn in the morning is my favorite. I can eat loads then without having to worry about regurgatation.

Intersting that this has come up again after all that has been said the other day. It just shows how misguided a protest can be (made to be). The protesters in my view have sent out a negative message about themselves and ended up clouding the issue that they feel so strongly about. If they had protested in the very same manner in front of the various cabinet minister that started the war (Blair, Straw, Brown)it’s possible that they would not have got such a negative press. However the police would never allow such a protest, so they end up being allowed to protest at those who cannot change anything. The problem that we have now is that it is very difficult to make your protest in the right place (parliment square/westminter). Our politicians have almost become invisible to us when there are concerns to voice.
Just to make it clear, I think that our forces are a pretty good bunch in general and thank anyone of them doing there job at the moment. Also I think that people should be able to protest even if it’s a bit distastful (it was to me), the public has brains and can make it’s own mind up. One day it could be us out there.

If the idea is good go for it, if you have the confidence in yourself to put the work in go for it.
Get yourself some sort of plan if you are going to approach organisations for money, support etc. Also have some idea of the direction you want for the business and what you want out of it.
Get a good accountant/solicitor who you trust, they will help set. The businesslink advice can be very good but remember it’s your business.
It could be now or never.
And remember it’s not an order until you have been payed.
    What business?

At last rudeboy is back to explain it to us, in his fully correct and everyone else has wrong way that is so educational. Your coffee don’t smell to good to me. Lets change one of your comments a little “They have been ABUSED as a weapon of the State”, for a number of crap wars in the last 10 years. Killed by the poor leadership (goverment) of thier own side, shit kit and not enough of the good stuff like food and ammunition but they stick it out. They are not perfect by a long way but I’d rely on them completely to protect me and mine and they would do the same for you no question. I’m proud of them and glad that they are around. The protest was good as a reminder on what we have here, them and others need a voice.

It’s a council, actually being organised doing the job is secondary to skiving and waiting for your indexed linked pension.

Rudeboy, if you had been around at the time you would understand but you were not and it shows. Ourmaninthenorth made some valid points earlier, things are not always as you see them. Try asking someone there at the time what it was like working for two bosses, the company the union. I used to cack myself on a daily basis when a certain union offical walked into our area.

Just to play the devil with you (this has sadly amused me foe a number of years), it is ironic to read an apparent socialist bleating for a facist goverment that often used it’s navy to throw it’s own left leaning decenters out of planes and helicoters into the south atlantic. A war is a war, if you can’t take it don’t get into one. At the last count our wonderous goverment of the day has taken the uk to war far more than any goverment of any colour since Suez (now that was a cock up).

Christian baiting is just a fun sport, lets not get worked up about it. After all it’s only a persons personal view that we offend. In a who cares selfish society it’s always the easy targets that we take a pop at, bit like bullying really, christians have been subject to it for years, they love it, throw them to the lions.

Lets stick with the reasoned arguments not the insults please. One suspects that if Christians met in small groups and planned tube bombings the arguments would be less combative or not at all.

tinker-belle seems to have it pretty much right in the last paragraph. let the kids have some experiance as long as it’s harmless. Keep an eye on things but let them learn (which may be hard at times). Children are fed many lies from society (father Christmas etc) and most of them figure it all out. If children do not experience and learn how can they make the right choices for themselves as they get older.
What makes us think that our views are better than the ones that they may develop.

hi headfirst, yep been there myself. can’t say that it was as painful as your condition but sitting down was an issue. took a long time to go with 2 courses of 10 weeks of antibiotics. eventually it cleared up and is now not a problem. Doctors really had no idea of what it was and how i got it but sitting on a bike saddle was not helping at all! Was a very committed roady at the time and the shaved legs caused some speculation from the doctor on the cause.

Have Royce and Middleburn on three bikes, great quality from really helpful uk companies. I recommend both of them.

Petestuart, thanks for the comments but there are more deserving companies than ours. There are days when we feel we are the only people left actually making things.

As I already said it’s been a very interesting debate and we could move it on into corporate responsibility and the lack of the long term view in many companies (perhaps we should). Lets leave Howies in peace (or perhaps a reply).

    mt

Flippin eck! this debate has been really interesting, Howies have made me think just like they say in the label. I hope that it’s possible for our company to live up to some of the stuff I have written let alone Howies. Trouble with having standards and ethics is that you have to live up to them and that can be really hard in this world.

Perhaps did not make myself clear.
When I say try harder I mean to provide jobs in the uk particularly for young people. It will come and bite us in the ass if we don’t.

Ournorthernchappy, I do question the ethics, It was bad for the old uk textile industries to exploit uk workers and pay minimum wages. But is it right for the new uk clothing industries to exploit those in the China Turkey (to name a few). I have seen these places yes they need the work but from a company that markets it’s self as one of the good guys? Man I want to believe.

I have the clothes myself and read the label, “the stuff we believe in” and “the rocking chair test”. I hope that Howies take this stuff further and consider the fact that they look to be applying a double standard.

The recentish book they sent out with the catalogue was very interesting, about how difficult it is growing up. It’s going to get more difficult to grow up in the uk if companies are pushing for employment here. In Howies case the very people in the target market (why do I have there clothes then am far to old). It’s not just about being green and organic, it’s about the whole ethics of a company and how it fits in with the community. Profit is very very important but companies also have responsibilities various others, Howies sets it’s self up (and is compared to most others) a socially aware company but because it’s marketing is based on ethical views it must be open to critisism. You’d never have ago at Tesco cause you know they don’t give a sh1t but I reckon Howies do. Sorry to be so long winded on this but as a uk manufacturer I’m very aware how tough it is out there but reckon some companies could try harder (thats all of us not just Howies).

How can you order from a factory that you have not visited? Primark have stuff made in the UK sweat shops so whats wrong with Howies making clothes here, what about the suppoert for the fellow citizen or are they all suposed to be out playing at ethics wearing the clothes, while standing in the dole queue (is it still called that?). At the price they charge it could be done could’nt it?

    mt
    Free Member

When it comes down to it Howies are no different to any other clothing company, it’s got to be at a price so they make profit. I understand the need to make a profit it’s a company that has employees but it’s just sad to see the stuff they write on the labels that they probably believe in but exclude what they should believe in. Bit like the new labour of the clothing world, all spin.

I suspect that my comment on about Howies were removed yesterday. Sorry if they were not in keeping with your attempt to keep an advertiser (seriously).
But how do they live with themselves promoting a hedonistic green(?) life style at the expense of cheap third world labour.

Rudeboy, it’s a cesspit with an open sewer running throuh it. Like all capital cities the place is full of people that think the rest of the country owes them. Like the former wealth generators of the bankrupt north (mines, mills, manufacturing) Londons time is over. The Scots have had enough, the good folk in Wales, so now it’s time remove the strangle hold of London from the North, let the pie eating pies nations unit (not eel pie eaters).
As an attempt keep on topic, Helsinki is a pretty good city and they really know how to deal with snow. They are bit rude about the Laps north of the artic circle though.
