Hope Brian at whinlatter bikes in Keswick is back on his feet soon. Everyone forgets the little shops

Main street is under water dude. It’s receding very slowly, water came up to us. The shop was surrounded by water for a while, looked like we had a moat.

4 Play Cycles just missed it and I hope KMB get sorted out quickly. We flooded in 2009 and it really is shit, we were closed for a long time.

I’m not upset by the review, just a bit miffed as I find mine very comfortable on all day rides, plenty of room for bikepacking kit, handles well fully loaded up and confidence inspiring on rocky descents. I live and ride in the lakedistrict. The bike beats me up a little on rutted grassy stuff but really holds its own in the rocky stuff. I’m 6,3 and the bike fits well. Thompson layback post, 90mm stem and loop bars.

Backs grand now thank you. Being lanky is to blame.

    Was only asking.

    No noticeable problems?

I love a good orange 5 thread. Just have a go on one and decide for yourself. It’s pointless asking about them on here.
For example, I wouldn’t bother with one, rode one didn’t like it. But lots of folk love them, can’t understand why, but they do.

Thanks for the photo help. As for the rear tire, my 2.4 wtb trail boss is real tight in the mk1 but has tons of space in the mk2.

Oh, and ESI grips, extra chunky are king.

Don’t know about trail centres, but took my Stooge up Helvellyn and over sticks pass today with no problems. Kept up with a giant reign, orange five and a lappiere spicy, well I left one of them lagging behind a bit. No arm pump, sore back or any of that nonsense. It’s like riding a 160/150mm trail bike but without the suspension. It’s **** ace, but not your average ridgid bike.
Apart from that, sometimes I would rag my drop barred Perigrine round Whinlatter whilst passing over the pass. That was fun but trail centres are usually quite smooth apart from all the braking bumps coming into corners and berms.

I’m 6″3 and am very happy on my stooge. It’s an amazing bike and I’m enjoying raging it around the lakes.

You won’t need a suspension fork. Get the stooge.

£6 is the rrp on most tubes, get over it. There are more expensive tubes out there too.

If you set chain length small small as PP says, it will work fine. Problems arise when folk use the wrong rear mech for their gearing.

    mrvear

Yes but if you were on a 32 the length in the mech cage would allow for this.

    bag I made[/url]
Xpac is not cheap but is easy to work with and holds shape well. Second bag I’ve made and yes, the zip is on the wrong side. I know it’s not a full suss, sorry.

We keep a cheapo one in the shop so we can show customers the difference.

So you have bought cheap skull lights and are surprised they don’t last. Don’t be so tight, buy a legit full price, propper skullys.

Awesome strap from backcountry research. Strap tube, multitool etc under saddle. Nothing rattles about like it dies in a saddle bag. Nothing comes loose or falls off, been using them for 5 years now.

    And rrp is 10.99 iirc.

Mines been going well for 2 years now. There are the proper skullys and then there are the shity knock off skullys. They sell like hot cakes when the nights start drawing in, and for the hundreds I’ve sold,I’ve never had any complaints or any returned.

I’m a fan of the axial stuff. Not fast but great fun for crawling.

Why not stick with 2×9 if you are happy with it?

No need for zip ties when cable length and routing is correct. Can’t see anywhere from the op stating a lbs built it? If so they should be ashamed of themselves for that cable routing but not as ashamed as the op for riding it like that for so long.

Depends on where you are riding. A good day out in the mountains requires a bit more than mincing around a trail centre foe example.

What a bunch of tarts. And the yeti looks nice apart from the horrible rear end.

Icy in places, was snowboarding up there last night. Some good deepish drifts running along wall lines. Rode back of skiddaw the other week in good snow, was a hoot.

Yep, different bar dia. Plus it would look gash.

Personally I think a taped bike looks gash. It is a mountain bike and where I live there are plenty of mountains and my bike looks like it has been thrown down most of them. Like a proper mountain bike should.

Over priced. Made in Taiwan but still changing made in America money.

Black ones. It’s brake cable and pretty much all the same. Compression less my arse.
