Given I participate in a hobby where lycra is king I do find fell runners attire surprisingly unpleasant :) – we have a lad at my gym who come in with his teeny tiny shorts on then proceeds to do weighted squats. Its not nice.

As Flashy says – I recruit occasionally for positions covered by the exception provisions and/or with enhanced background checks but for normal positions you should be fine

Nexus 4 was happy logging a 12 hour ride the other week, had about 15% battery left at the end. seems pretty tough overall but like chvck above i use my old HTC wildfire as a bike mounted phone normally

Dont worry about it – if they are anything like my sealskins you’ll wear a hole in the back if them within a few rides then the water can get out.

Having badly scored a front rim after some tiny metal road debris got stuck to my brake pad in the damp I’m all for discs.

The thing that annoyed me a bit during the live stream of the downhill was the commentators constantly talking about the riders on different wheel sizes and one of the commentators stating that the 26″ was going to be dead after the event with 27.5 replacing it.

The best bit was when he followed it up by saying he hadn’t actually ridden any 27.5 wheels but had been told they were faster and as responsive as 26 but rolled a lot better.

After discussions with the team, it’s been agreed that whilst trading fake goods is illegal, discussing them is not.

Sorry? providing advice on the good/bad ebay sellers who supply counterfeit products is fine? So we can buy counterfeits with confidence?

Wow thats ugly, 380g or thereabouts as well, quick google check reveals they are on sale for £75 in the UK. So ugly, heavy, pricy. Clean sweep.

I’ve always wanted to try it, partly to get a good idea of my natural levels and partly to understand how it impacts performance. They should make you all wear US Postal kit while riding to ensure everyone knows you’re doped :)

House of Trembling Madness (just up from evil eye, same people) – beer and food place above a bottle shop, focus on belgian beer and cheese/meat platters – steep stairs up however so not super child friendly

I really enjoyed both the Hamilton and Millar books, Hamilton’s was the more eye-opening in terms of the doping (I found it genuinely surprising how easy it actually was) but I found Millars the better read and could understand a little of why he doped.

I missed the chance to post on the other thread before the gnar kiddies got it locked – just wanted to send best wishes, I had a near miss with a ‘bonus’ trail feature in the local woods (badly built double as you exited a semi-blind turn) so winced when I saw your post.

I’ve got a pair of the (2011 iirc) Hip VPD Shorts, lovely fit and great protection but badly made, stitching came undone well before I ever crashed in them and I ended up having to sew sections of them back together.

Picked up half price so I wasn’t too grumpy but put me off the brand, I did read somewhere they changed the design so it may no longer be an issue.

On-one do seem to be following an increasingly odd arc – the ‘hilarious’ pumps were childish but when this popped into my inbox my first thought was ‘wtf?’ and my second was ‘to the forum, someone will claim its art’ :)

Having just ridden my “comfort” road bike (Bianchi Via Nirone 7 – relaxed “C2C” geometry) along a ten mile section of gravel towpath as part of a longer ride yesterday I would advise something like a cross bike with bigger tyres, to be fair I had 23c’s on (no other choice due to tyre buying error) but I’m feeling a little beaten up today, bike was fine but it was uncomfortable and even with the slightly bigger tyres it can accommodate I wouldn’t expect a massive improvement in comfort.

That looks spot on – I’m currently using a very similar 10ltr system I built myself and the results are really good – I may be making a purchase as his chiller is far nicer than my homemade one.

I don’t do more than 10l as most of my homebrew is high ABV experiments, 10ltrs is great for trying stuff out

Just looked away from browsing the Assos online catalogue and spotted this thread :)

My full-sus was sub 1000 a couple of years back – 2010 Marin Attack Trail 6.7 (mostly x5/deore and revelation forks) in a Winstanleys clearance. A quick look suggests its still quite possible to get a decent bike for well under 1k if you’re willing to have last years kit and hold your nerve until the sales.

The price of cigars in the UK I’m not surprised you were sick!

You can easily get sick and lightheaded if you aren’t used to nicotine, I (rarely) smoke cigars but never cigs and occasionally get a bit wobbly after a cigar.

What was it out of interest?

26-inch for sure, but 29-inch will be dependent on market feedback. That said, if the market progresses the way we believe it will, 29-inch will be phased out in approximately two years….again, totally dependent on market feedback.

I assume “market feedback” is a euphemism for “once we see a slowdown in sales as everyone has bought we’ll launch another wheelsize and get our chums in the media to shill it relentlessly”.

Awful company in my experience, my local (delivery) driver smokes in his car so everything stinks of cigs. Had two work related packages go astray including one that was ‘signed for’ (hoho) fifteen minutes after the driver picked it up. If you have a good ‘final mile’ driver then it works well for the reasons above, if not then you’re screwed.

Still they are cheap so lots use them, I can see why people would send via them.

MTB makes a variety of ungodly noises – I’ve identified one as a dying bottom bracket which I’m using as a an excuse to buy new cranks. Bike is due stripping down for a full service anyway which should help with the others.

Road Bike was pleasingly stealth until last night when I inexplicably took it down a rooty bridleway to see ‘how it would handle’ – the sun must have got to me. I think I may need to re-true the front wheel.

Aldi stuff isn’t bad but I think it lasts so well because its fairly ‘agricultural’ with thicker fabric and less complexity (panels etc) compared to the high end stuff.

Also had mixed experiences with the on-one tubes (2 of 4 have punctured within a day of being fitted leading me to wonder if they came knackered) but Decathlon are currently doing Michelins for £2.99 in store – picked up a bunch for the road bike and they seem good but they also do most mtb sizes.

I mostly agree with the OP, injured rider with potential impairment of reaction speed and decision making gets the ‘all clear’ from his entirely unbiased team. He was reportedly unconscious for periods and had headaches over the evening.

Many sports won’t let you take part with a head injury until you demonstrate no impairment as concussed players/riders tend to cause accidents/have accidents and a second head injury to an already concussed individual can have wider consequences.

An independent Doctor clearing head injury cases wouldn’t be too hard to implement – its common in lots of sports.

Problem with bitcoin seems to be the sudden surge in value has resulted in people bringing in serious amounts of dedicated hardware (intergrated mining units rather than more traditional GPU arrays) and the amount of power coming on line makes it unlikely anyone not buying this kind of kit will make money in the longer run. You’re laughing if you build the kit however.

One additional option is to take two pairs of gloves – that way one is dry and you can wash the other one and leave it to dry out so it isn’t pre-soaked in salt the next day.

The talc tip works really well – I learned the hard way after a five day riding trip.

Going even smaller I do micro-BIAB on the stove – usually working with less than 7l of wort after extraction so I can use a sink filled with ice water as a chiller rather than bothering with proper cooling systems. Works surprisingly well although I do have more clarity issues than proper set ups.

Just finishing off the last bottles of a Green Coffee Pale Ale at moment and i’ve got an oaked single hop citra IPA on the secondary which I’ll be bottling tonight. Very small batches means you can have some fun experimenting.

Loved that – fantastic vision and polish, cute narrative – really nice piece of work. I think joemarshall above has the truth of it – this is about content that is accessible and persuasive to the public at large.

And the swiss ball to rail!

From recent experience the bigger providers (evans as an example) are stricter on what counts and follow the guidance above but if you do the order over the phone and get a helpful person you can stretch it a little – I chucked in one ‘luxury’ item (nice bibs) with my recent C2W order but didn’t feel too bad as the rest of the order was 100% for c2w and even the bibs may get a use on that run during the summer.

I do like the 5k bikes on evans with x9 – 5k won’t buy you top of the range components on a standard production frame.

I am another who has never bought a proper mountain bike – mine have all been sub-1k end-of-line specials

Its seriously stingy stuff isn’t it? I can never decide if I’d rather keep bleeding instead of using it.
