Sister in law is a social worker, in charge of a care home for disruptive kids. Honestly don’t know how she does it.

Social workers that work with kids get it particularly rough – as previously mentioned, if they interfere too much they get accused of being monsters that split up families. Too little, and they’re accused of being negligent and letting kids being abused. And when they get it right never gets reported.

I love STW – video of an idiot mashing into the back of another rider, the other rider completely overreacting and going psycho… and you’re discussing physics. :D

    Oh wait, different Mrs T…

The bloke thread needs more Christian Bale, tbh. Although he cannot match the exquisite 6ft 7 divinity of Mr Toast, naturally.

Our hosts have side that a number of sites on the same server have gone the same way and that they’re looking into it, so it may not be a fault with our site, but the server as a whole.

Yeah, we had similar – our hosting company (RoutHost) had a couple of their servers hacked by an Iranian dude, they managed to get everything back up and running in a day or fortunately.

You should post the details here, IIRC I think the STW massive did quite a good job of uncovering the culprit! :P

Hope it all gets sorted swiftly for you and there’s not too much long term damage done.

I misread the title of this thread as “Boris and the Unicorns”. The reality was disappointing.

On the plus side, I think it might have inspired a new children’s book…

Sweet merciful Zeus, she’s expecting you to get her a present after only 10 days? Not getting her one “Won’t go down well”?

1 Peter 3:8 says “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.”

Such a way of life is harder than you might think, but if everyone did it don’t you think that would be amazing?

Not everyone can love as brothers, because over 50% of the population is female. But according to the Bible I’m pretty much a persona non grata, along with gays and non-Christians. If that’s the word of ‘God’, then I can’t imagine Hell being much worse.

If it’s really bad it might need replacing, but you can try scrubbing it with a toothbrush dipped in bleach.

Remember not to use the toothbrush for teeth brushing afterwards…

When I was 8 I shoplifted a packet of Panini Top of the Pops stickers, which cost something like 15p. I still feel guilty now.

I hate renting – I hate not being able to have pets, or being able to decorate or even put up pictures (not allowed to put nails in the wall), and most of all I hate the letting agency coming around every 6 months when we’re at work to inspect our house.

But it does have its plus points – you’re not tied down to a particular area, you don’t have to wait for a buyer to move, and the letting agency has to sort anything that goes wrong.

The rights to various Marvel properties are owned by different studios – for example, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers are all currently owned by Marvel Studios and Paramount, hence why they can have those characters crossing over between movies. The X-Men and The Fantastic Four are owned by Marvel Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, so they can have characters going between movies. Spiderman is owned by Columbia Pictures, I think. So The Avengers movie wouldn’t be able to have the Spiderman/Scarlet Witch/Wolverine in the team.

It’s already caused a few disputes, because there’s question over what characters belong to which franchise (for example, Scarlet Witch first appeared in the X-Men, but is arguably better known for being an Avenger). I one of the studios recently did a few animated features of certain story arcs, but had to swap out characters because of legal issues – in Planet Hulk, the Silver Surfer was swapped out and replaced by Beta Ray Bill.

with the obvious exception of the gay cardinal he is here to beatify.

Except the Vatican got quite cross with the claims that he was gay?

You should all buy Android phones, then buy the fantastic soon-to-be-released crab-based Tower Defence game 'Shrimpocalypse'. ALL OF YOU.

Then I'll be able to afford some new wheels! \o/

A 2008 Trek 4500 WSD – lovely little bike, but on hindsight far too short for me. The Trekadee has gone on to a new owner, a young girl that's depressingly better than I'll ever be!

I was working at Tesco at the time in the garage. We had one customer come in and say, "Did you know that a plane has gone into the World Trade Centre in New York?"

Throughout the day we got updates from customers – another plane had crashed, the first tower had come down, the second tower had come down. I didn't actually see the news until 6pm in the evening, I just remember being absolutely mortified, trying to comprehend that this movie-style scene was actually happening and that thousands of people had lost their lives. The scale of it was immense – not just New York, but also the two other jets that came down.

I remember my brother being particularly grim – he was convinced that it was potentially the end of the world because he was so worried that George Bush was in power. He was convinced he'd just nuke someone…

Why this underlying assumption that sex or gender are binary attributes?

In some cultures (such as some Native American and African tribes) they've long had the notion of multiple genders. I think it's only as we become more progressive both in terms of society and science that we're beginning to understand that for some people, it's a bit more complex than that. Like this guy.[/url]

But hell, I get grief for being a woman that likes mountain biking, videogames, comics and metal – I've flat out been told that I'm not 'a normal woman'. Much like a chap at work had the mickey taken out of him because he loved knitting. If people are still mocked because their hobbies don't fit into people's predefined gender categories, I can't begin to imagine how transgender people are treated on a day to day basis. :/

Yesterday, I looked at Becky's photo of her critter and thought "Wow, not seen ones like that since I used to live back in my hometown, glad we don't get them here".

Went to brush my teeth and there was a mahoosive one just like it in the bath. It was still there this morning, so Mr Toast ejected it from the premises. Then I noticed there was ANOTHER ONE under the sink.

I swear it's like Ringu or something. Everyone who's looked at Becky's photo will now have massive spiders in their house, emerging from their hiding places for viewing pleasure.

They have both – you can spot the numbers on the route markers (M1 – M9), and some bits tend to get referred to by name (Lower Cliff, Upper Cliff, Original Monkey).

If you pop into Swinnertons you can pick up a map for £1.50 that has the section numbers and feature names for both FtD and The Monkey.

You really don't want to be running Combofix under your own steam. It's a complex program with the capacity to do real damage, and doesn't clean up after itself unless you tell it to. Only ever go anywhere near Combofix under the guided instruction of someone who knows what they're doing with it.

Pfft, according to Urban Dictionary, all users on this forum are IT professionals! :P

I find the whole ethics thing interesting. From the lasses point of view, she is saying she thought it terrible that he was playing away from home, but that it is not ethical to do the dirty deed actually in the marital home. I would not want to judge matters one way or another, but it's interesting getting a glimpse into others worlds and their thinking and justifications.

I think a prostitute is on decidedly shakey territory when trying to take the moral high ground. What, she thinks that he was the first married/attached man to have used to her services? Has she publically informed everyone of other kerb crawlers' cheating ways? Or is it only bad to cheat on your wife if you're famous, in her eyes?

Yar, use Malwarebytes and Combofix. We had to sort Mr Toast's sister's PC after she'd managed to install Malware – she fell hook line and sinker for a "virus detected, click here for a free scan!" pop up, screwed up her PC so much that we had to go into safe mode to get it sorted.

They can be a pain in the arse when it comes to servicing – they'll only come out Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm, they won't give you a definite time, so you have to book the entire day off work, sometimes they don't even bother to show up, meaning you have to book another day off work, and their website is broken. IME.
