I am all for compulsory retests – there are a lot of people who don’t know the speeds for roads, have no lane discipline and can not judge distance. Never look in their blind spots, are blinded by the sun but still pull out but the government will never enforce this as it will reduce the number of revenue they receive and they will alienate some of their voters.

I use to give blood but due to EU legislation I do not have enough iron; it has to have a high iron content now, I am just normal (apparently). They use to give you a card with your blood group on it not sure if they still do.
    My recommendation is:
    have a snack before hand
look away when they put the needle in (it doesn’t hurt that way).
Squeeze your hand slowly you do not want the blood to pour out of you like a gushing tap, more just a small trickle.
Listen to the advice they give you

The Indian Embassy? The High Commission sends you here.
We used this one as well.

With visas remember to read all the instructions. They specify the ink colour when signing etc and the photos need to be a certain size for India.
For the photos you can either print them out yourself or get a local photographer to make them that size. What is really annoying is that they now shrink the photo and put it in your passport.

I am with you about abbey national they messed up a move to them, then blamed everyone else but themselves! YBS we had our mortgage with them and they credited an old account – they put it right but I feel that if she had concentrated on the job in hand than trying to sell god knows what they would not have made the mistake. Had a co-op account when I had a Saturday job with them (25 years ago) the only negative was the blue cheque book which stained your fingers (but then who writes cheques now). Halifax – don’t you have to pay for their accounts now?

It was Snells….. Initially I had been pleased with their past work but I think handing back a bike saying “it has a knocking noise and we don’t know what it is; here’s the keys off you go” attitude is a bit piss poor! It did not have the knocking noise when I dropped it off. However saying that they did not cause the knocking noise they highlighted it when they tightened the chain but even I could tell it was the chain/wheel. As experienced mechanics they should know that this was what it was.
They failed to notice that the tank seal was leaking as well! I am sure that they would have had the tank up to check the engine.

We were so impressed with the sustrans W2W, route that we actually set up a subscription to them. Then bought several more of their maps and routes for the next several years touring. We have used several of their cycle paths in Devon and Cornwall and what could have been a city battle with 2 bikes and a trailer turned into a nice ride up the estuary to Exeter. Not to mention the Bristol to Bath cycle route. If you are impressed with sustrans make a donation today so they can keep up the good work!

to find out which version Help, About Thunderbird. It is on V10 at present. There were some issues earlier on with thunderbird releases I know one of the time taken to load emails was linked to periodically emptying your temp file.

Well done you! I was the roughly the same age when I did my cbt I then spent a year or so on a DT125 bought cheaply through adtrader (MRPP loved that bike) then did a Direct Access course and carried on riding my 125 for 6 months before getting a Kawazaki GPZ. I say get out there and enjoy it! I still shout yippee on my commutes to and from work even on the scooter (GT200).

Like OP we had a fixed rate for the past 2 years as we were sure it was going to go up. This year we went for a tracker which you can change to a fixed rate if the rate starts changing, as long as you have had the mortgage for 3 months.

Apparently it is a long process to claim but I am determined. I rung the shop and told them I am very disappointed with the Dainese quality after all this is the 2nd jacket in the last 8 months. I have told them that I expect Dianese to sort out the scratches which were caused by the defective jacket. They want me to bring the bike so they can see the scratches so MrPP you better get it back together soon. Personally I am fed up with expensive products that are bad / shoddy quality! I hate to think how it will hold up in an accident (god forbid). Anyway MrPP it was not AMEX – they were the small claims court. I charged my time for the window replacement people who did not measure properly, I had to take 2 days holiday to get the patio window replaced! I might not have been so hard if I had not asked the guy if he was sure he had the correct measurements (woman’s instinct and all that) etc; it so happens he didn’t!
Might take the bike to Altamura in Camberley to get a price thanks for the recommendation.

Seriously get her off the road, I ride a bike, scooter and push bike on the road and I don’t want people like her near me. A little hard I guess but maybe you could suggest some advance driving lessons.
Of the point you are really posting – don’t stay together because you fell you have to – my parents did that and it was not a great atmosphere -they do not talk even after being apart for 17 years and I can not even mention his name. IME money is the root of most relationship problems and the only way to change this is to review how and what you spend your money on. You should be together because you make each other laugh, you love each other and you could not face a day without that person in your life. If you do not feel like that then it is time say what each other thinks.

    Because of the weather…
Remember at the end of May we had that really hot weather well the tarmac melted so the motorbike fell over (it was on the centre stand at the time).
Due to wet slippery steps MrPP fell over and broke his ankle.
Due to the wet weather our driveway did not get completed in 2 weeks as first expected, so we have had to park on the road where this week two 15 year olds decided to drive a stolen toyota into our car.
Any you are pissed off because you can not ride….

conditional formatting is probably the best way but it really depends on what you want to do. If you just want to copy 1 cell format, paste special, if it is a whole spreadsheet you can write a nested formula in conditional formatting.

A common theme is to overwater them the roots do not like being soaked in water. An orchid pot has a lip for the pot to sit on for this very reason although they are not essential. My 2 orchids are in the bathroom and kitchen (east facing windows) and they get no misting or special food. They also only get watered twice a month. However my cactus and venus fly traps all die so not sure what I do wrong with them!

We have found a few, my sister and her then boyfriend bought a place in London, when the sellers had moved out MrPP noticed that the roof/ceiling did not look “quite” right. When they had someone to look at it and the previous owner had taken out some roof struts so they could store more junk in the attic. The roof had to be completely redone – luckily it was a hot sunny summer!
My grandads place had a wire hanging out of the wall he was told it was not live. However the handyman found out that it was live. Luckily he was just a bit bruised and shocked. They also found nails through cables in the loft.
When we had our electrics done last year they found that the cables were connected with the things they call chocolate boxes.
Not dangerous but when we got our kitchen re plastered they found an arch in the wall that was not quite symmetrical – more leaning tower of Pisa looking!
BTW getting a pro to look it over if a problem does arise then they say “could not get into loft as full” to cover them. If you buy a place that has not got an electrical certificate assume it needs to be done.

we have used cottages4you in the past and the cottage was just as described and the pricing and grading were really helpful. I like the fact that you can specify near a pub for example (well we are on holiday). I have heard that the national trust cottages are really nice although do cost a bit more.

Thames Water, pisses over 25% of its water into the ground through leakages

That is a little worrying or am I taking it too literally as they are responsible for our sewage..

As for leaks it is amazing how many have them outside of their house but do not report them. The problem is that everyone thinks someone else will do it.

I can never remember any of the names of the areas but we had a great time watching at the church I think it was Crosby (the ladies were selling cakes and sandwiches) and at the pub opposite they moved the red tape back a bit as the riders were taking a different line. Not that a bit of red tape would have saved you. We also went down the the road from Ballaugh bridge and sat in the gate opening / layby MrPP had many action shots with wheelies along that road. Sat in someones garden at Creg Ny Baa. The first year we went sightseeing, we will probably go back to the Manx Museum in Douglas and the Manannan museum in Peel and definetly the banger racing just outside of Douglas. We have to try and remember the wind up radio and OS map this time – only 2 months away!
Singletons – always worth remembering that the population in the IOM always peaks 9 months after the TT.

we are going this year and really looking forward to it. I know what you mean about the ferry costs last 2 times we have had 2 bikes, 2 riders this time 1 bike with both riding. We are camping at the football ground at Laxey. They have an on-site bar, they also provided catering if anyone wanted and a great Italian and launderette were walking distance. There were a few things going on in Laxey when we went about 4 years ago. We stayed at Glen Dhoo campsite near Douglas the first time we went 10 years ago but were not impressed with it last time – mainly because they had only just cut the 4 foot grass and left it lying on the floor so grass got everywhere, despite the fact we were there for 2 weeks we were stuck in the corner on a slope and the 50p for the showers on top of an already exorbitant fee. I think MrPP is looking forward to the TT Teas at Dalby as one of the highlights (after the racing of course!)

As above it would be better (approx £60) off to pay in one lump sum as long as you have no early repayment fees on your mortgage which you say there isn’t. Currently interest rates are less than mortgage rates so it makes sense to pay debts rather than save for a rainy day.

Maybe I am the exception. When we moved from Barclays to Abbey National the change over went well except for the fact that they lost 600 GBP which they transferred into someone else’s account by accident. Although they did try to say that it was my fault – I soon corrected them mind you. When we moved from Abbey to NatWest – they mislaid a lot more than that it took me 2 days to get up the nerve to tell MrPP. I am now petrified to move accounts again. We got the money back in the end but it is really annoying as you have to let them (the bank) look into it which takes approx 4 – 6 weeks.

I can understand your frustrations, I was even accused of being noise sensitive. We had a dog in the neighbourhood that would bark non-stop from 9pm until 4am. It was rarely walked and it was bored. We kept a diary for a few weeks then we went to the council as we could narrow down the house but not the actual house. After badgering them and seeing another diary they asked us to keep, they went round to the houses. Since this visit although the dog owners said their dogs were not the only barkers they became aware that someone had complained. We told the council that next time they kept us awake we would go and wake them up when we left for work MrPP was leaving at just after 5am then. I was told they understood my frustrations but I could not do that. In the nuisance diary under the “how does it make you feel column” I would put things like “I want to kill the owners then the dogs” I think this might have speeded up the process but I was being honest sleep deprivation does not leave me the happy little sole that I usually am.

Re the Vespa MrPP has finally gone back to his original idea and we are getting a new braided hose. He did say he was going to get it done by the 1st March as that was when the MOT was due. As to the reference to the decaying orbit I think that is quite apt!
Seriously I think that there are bad and good drivers everywhere. We can always learn something new and I think that if we had a basic re-test ie new signs, road speeds, driving in straight line, lane discipline, the actual meaning of the overtaking lane rather than just calling it a fast lane, roundabout priories say every 10-15 years the roads would be a safer place. But this won’t happen as the government would lose votes and money generated.

I agree with the OP. My lift share is a Renault Scenic driver and she is oblivious to anyone else on the road and has no lane discipline. MrPP stop reading here.
In the past 1.5 months she has hit the kerb twice (whilst going round a round about), driven off with the door open (twice, I hadn’t even got both legs in the car. Yesterday she admitted she could not find her brake (as we practically TBoned an Audi). This morning I practically adopted the brace position as we roared up behind a braking car as she was looking at the traffic on the opposite side of the road wondering why they had stopped. I asked her this morning why her driving had got so bad in the last 1.5 months she said that Mark’s (the other lift) breathing changes so she looks at him to see if he is asleep. She constantly drives with one wheel on the cats eyes at the side of the road (I have asked her not too as it jolts the side of the car that I sit on) her attitude to all of this si to laugh and blame the menopause.
Hurry up MrPP and mend the scooter….(please).

I know I have had 4 today – 1 asked to speak to the bill payer – I asked her which bill? I thought it was an obvious question. It is always someone trying to earn a living so I am always pleasant to them. The ones that really get my goat are the ones that are recorded messages.

    we do…
we have the chavs across the road – the girls stand in the street smokin a fag in their dressing gowns. In the summer they buy ice cream from the van in their dressing gowns (he comes round at about 3pm) they also have a shouty conversations as they walk away from each other.

We also have radio garden because in the summer they have a bbq with loads of people around and play the radio at full blast (adverts and all). One day I had to work to power ballads blasting out for 3 hours.

We also have the Junglist massive who plays loud jungle music at weekends but turns it off at a respectable time.

We finished the C2C in Whitby then cycled to Scarborough. I definitely think that Whitby is better for more concentrated drinking. We camped near the town centre and often stopped at the Middle Earth pub on the way back – great real ales.
We did not really find any good pubs in Scarborough but maybe that was because we camped and it was more out of town. As for fish and chips – I am surprised if a fish gets further than 30 yards from the sea before it is battered and fried in Whitby. There are 2 parts to Whitby, one side is all amusement arcades and chip shops and the other is art shops, old sweet shops and generally much quainter to wander round.
