On Monday the A32 was closed next to the farm they sell the bulls (Farringdon)so quite far up nearer Alton way than Fareham way.
Dominos now do a gluten free pizza if all else fails!
Re Flowerpots I had forgotten they turned us away – we were starving by the end of the ride! MRPP is not a happy cheery person when he is hungry.

MrPP also had this problem sat down too quickly with a cup of tea, knocked the ikea cd rack which missed the fish tank by millimeters, tea and cds everywhere. He was upset that he dropped his biscuit in the tea. We were fitting the kitchen at the time and next door heard a loud bang and scream (me not mrPP) to check we weren’t trapped under some kitchen units. The devastation in a matter of seconds were horrific. I was going to suggest trying a salvage yard for internal doors if you want to keep in tune with the 60’s style – not sure where you are based but there is one in reading near The Oracle that just does doors.

I had it as a kid – I don’t remember being ill for 3 months though. But then this might be like the Chickenpox when adults get it, it is a lot worse.
I would say that even now when I do get colds now they always turn into hacking coughs which get so bad that I feel like I can’t breath.
I hope you feel better soon.

we used a bolster and hammer on ours – but it did also need a lot of work, sweat and created a lot of dirt.

they spoil the look of the bike

And mud and clag all over the bike and up your front and back is preferable, yeah? 😉

This happened to us once. We arrived cutting it a bit fine with about 6 mins to go before check in closed to be told our seats had been sold. After a bit of a complaining session and about an hour waiting in a queue we were books onto a later flight and give around £250 EACH paid direct onto our debit card…. for a flight we got for free anyway…. We had a lovely time in Rome, I can assure you!

To be honest it depends where you take it. I would prefer for a bike to fail and get any items that could cause a problem fixed than ride and discover the problem. They are hot on number plate size (they have a special ruler), exhaust (CE stamped) & lights. I the past we have had notifications on suspension which was a known age weakness which when we got fixed made a huge difference to the handling and riding.

Wow not sure how easy it is to get round on public transport on race days, we have met people who have bought the tickets and done it but not sure how easy or restrictive they found it. Bike hire for a couple of days might be good as you can get to Peel and Kirk Michael relatively easily. You can always borrow OS maps from your local library for the week. As we take the motorbike I can’t really comment on trains and buses.
    Bikes it is…

We seem to go every 5 years and we
    Ride the course (a given)
Watch the races from different places
Go for a TT Tea in Bride
    Stock car racing in Douglas
Visit the manx museum in Douglas – they often have TT memorabilia
Get some Manx kippers from Peel
    Attend Honda day in Peel
Visit the House of Manannan in Peel
Laxey motorcycle show (we usually stay at Laxey football ground so a short walk to this one for us)
Have fun and enjoy yourself, I wish I was going this year as we got rained on a lot last year. I would recommend always have change on you as a lot of gardens you can sit in for a donation. Churches , halls and schools usually supply tea, cake and sandwiches. Take a little radio so you can hear the races and an OS map to find your way round the road closures.

we have found that touring we wanted a tent we could sit up in (esp when changing) but this might not be so helpful for you as we also use a trailer. Preferably you want one that pitches outer first so the inner does not get wet when setting up and taking down. We also wanted a bit of a porch so we could cook in it.
We always split our tent up as they pack down smaller (something we were recommended). We also have a compression bag for the material tent section. We returned from the Castles and Coast route south (started it on the 4th May) and had quite good weather – not a lot of rain. For camping in this weather you preferably want a Hydrostatic head (HH) of 3-4000.
When we started touring we didn’t want to spend a lot of money just in case we did not enjoy it. We love the touring so we made of list of wanted and would like then matched our kit to the list.
If you go into Decathalon take a look at their sleeping bags as I think they are good value for money, they make the xl – so longer and wider (if you get more than one they zip together).

Sometimes it is ace – I commute 19 miles one way on a scooter when my car share in on holiday or ill. My list of must haves would be heated grips, top box and larger wheels. Our vespa use to fall foul of the pot holes and joins in dual carriage ways. I love the sunny days and the days where there are massive jams everywhere and everyone complains about how long it took them to get into work. I hate the -4 and below weather, people peering through a credit card size slot in the frost and snow and the people who pull out or in on you as you are on a scooter then brake hard because as you are on a scooter you must be a learner or only doing 30 (even on a motorway). Oh yeah and helmet hair!

I think it is hard to say not knowing all the facts. If the left hand lane is marked left turn only then you were in the wrong lane. Not knowing where the bike originated from if the bike was turning right they would have been closer to the middle and as they came up to their exit move outwards. Maybe it was both peoples fault as the biker was straight lining the roundabout (curb to curb which they teach at advance riding) despite their being 2 lanes – car drivers do this a lot, it is okay to use this when there are no other cars near you. Unfortunately a lot of peoples perception(its the way our minds work) larger vehicles go faster than smaller items which is why you get pulled out on when riding a bike; small = slow large = fast. Or maybe as it is sunny weather the bike had only been taken out the garage and the rider was not in bike mode. If there had been an accident as you pulled onto the roundabout and you have to give way to traffic on your right you would have probably been deemed at fault. I have heard people say they go round the roundabout on the outside (left hand lane) as it makes it easier to turn off doesn’t matter if they are going left, straight on or right.
The good thing is that there was no accident and you are aware of the situation and you are reflecting on what went wrong. Hopefully the rider is doing the same!

CG- Good luck with the element change. Never done it but when our oven did not work MrPP came back to a new replacement. Feel your pain with hob cooking. I had to cope with a camping stove for weeks whilst we did our kitchen that is when I discovered microwave instructions on the back of new potatoes and our local sainsburys if you paid an extra £1 cooked your pizza for you! Failing that get your son or daughter to do that!

I feel your pain. We are with Npower and they seem to raise their prices every few months. They put their prices up in November then another increase in February. We were paying £65 a month and were in credit – now they want 105.. (3 bed semi). Go onto uswitch and do some comparisons, it is really easy to switch. The only problem is if you owe them money you have to pay it before you move.

When I used to start work at 7am I used to cycle 1/2hr to get there then have brekkie about 8.30am.
Now I work in an LBS I don’t start until 9am but have discovered porridge at 8am keeps me going until early afternoon. Which is good.
I CANNOT miss breakfast. Not EVER. Can’t function without it. 🙂

Yesterday got attacked by a Labrador (nipping to Sandhurst along Cove Brook for some fork oil) – it seemed to have a taste for my pannier.
Tuesday it was a van going along a one way system the wrong way.
Usually I just get kamikaze pedestrians meandering round car parks and across roads so this made a change to my urban cycle rides.

we have spuds chitting in the greenhouse – not that they have done much. Basil on the windowsill along with tomato plants that we purchased last week (I know cheating but I am fed up with getting tomatoes in September/October when the man next door has them from May/June! Foolishly planted broad beans and peas in the greenhouse a few weeks ago before the snow. So I am ready to pounce when the sun starts warming the earth…

we loved this place [/url]– free crazy golf just next to the entrance and campsite in the middle of the Loire.
We did go there the year that the TT was canceled due to foot and mouth so quite a long time ago.

Jelly Babies and Natural sweet confectionery are not veggie they contain either cow or pig gelatine.
Most pack show a V on the front I buy the following when fancy something veggie and chewy
laces, and fizzy belts from tesco’s /sainsburys range are veggie (usually 3 for a £1)
    Sainsburys basic fruit chews
M&S also do veggie versions of percy pig and colin caterpillars now
haribo only do the 1 veggie chews – to be honest they are not that great
I think the jelly beans are veggie as well.
I always double check as some mint imperials are not veggie!

We hired bikes from Poison spider http://www.poisonspiderbicycles.com They swapped the brakes and SPDs without blinking. Great bunch of people and very laid back.
Don’t forget to take lots water and food as you don’t sweat so don’t notice how dehydrated you are getting. We went in September and did slickrock and nearly bonked at the end of it. The next day when we did Porcupine we made sure we took enough water. Also the bakery in Moab use to do fantastic filled rolls.
Porcupine – MrPP said if you fall, fall to the left like I couldn’t see the rocky cliff edge on my right!
And as Rexated said do one or the other, both in 1 day is extreme! They are both different styles as well – Porcupine is rocky downhill with drops offs, slickrock is undulating smooth surface with sand pits at the bases of some of the descents.

we are, we are doing the Castles and Coast South at the beginning of May – sustrans route so on side roads and gravel tracks. We are camping so lucky MrPP gets to pull the trailer up the climbs. MrPP has some riding planned when we are in the US in September but that is not really touring.

At the beginning of October last year we spent a week. It was so relaxing, we have never drunk so much tea and eaten so much cake in a week. We also took 2 mini kegs of beer as there were not too many pubs where we stopped. Due to the short daylight hours we did an out and back from Norbury Wharf to Chester. There were just the two of us so when we had a staircase or a lot of locks close together it was quite tiring. We saw a lot of wildlife – kingfishers, storks, ducks incl mandarin. I would recommend if you get a boat, go for at least 2 berths bigger than you need to give you the extra room. Also the swaying sensation stops after 2 days! It was such a relaxing holiday and being out in the open all day long was fantastic. We had good weather which I think helps a lot.

I floss and have the same problem as the OP – they call it a compacted jaw and the fact that my back teeth are still trying to push through are moving my teeth forward. Although this morning I was told I had a weird bite (due to finger sucking when very young). I have found that the expensive floss got stuck between my teeth as it felt like the consistency of string. I now get the Sainsburys value floss – which is a lot thinner and works better for me.

I thought your Focus was the perfect car and not capable of having mechanical problems?

Not within the first 6 months – the power steering pump went luckily the AA man knew what had happened and could advise so saved hours getting a mechanic to know what the problem was. However the Triumph Speed Four I had was recovered 3 times due to major failures!

MCN have loads of bike insurers details in the back of it so worth just spending an afternoon with a laptop as most of them you can get quotes on line. Bennetts – register on quidco to get the current £25 discount. When asked for the cheapest quote – say a little less (just tell a little white lie) – I like the challenge of finding a low price. Also insurance at the end of the month is cheaper as they have targets to fill. Paying in 1 go also helps if you can afford that chunk of change, When on Bennetts sometimes they have the same bike but listed differently and the price varies on that so worth looking at. I would go for third party if the excess is more than the bike. State every lock he uses eg disk lock, data tag etc as this brings down prices. Go Compare do bike comparison websites. Good luck and hopefully you can get the price down to something a little bit more palatable!

I was distraught when we had to take my mums dog to the vet (we were dog sitting) whilst she had a hole sown up at the back of her throat (dog / ground incident).
She was very spoilt as she lulled around with a spaced out look that only a spaniel can have after being knocked out! Occupy yourself tonight with writing your next post – “How do I give my dog antibiotics as hiding it in the food is not working?”

BT are a complete waste of time. We moved and arranged their free transfer we were told it would be free, keep same number etc. Day of the phone to be working – nothing. Rang them up (via mobile) and was told that I needed to pay 60 GBP. Told them that I was not paying that and explained we were told it was a free service etc. They reduced it to 30GBP, I told them that if they wanted to keep my business then it has to be free. Since then I have been Virgin – Sky (made it clear I was not paying BT) – Virgin I will never go back to BT or ever pay them money. The problem is they have so many little departments that do not talk to each other (like the DVLA). I would change providers and bill them for the time lost, day off to wait for engineer etc when your router was down!

I wouldn’t touch Dulux with a barge pole – unfortunately we used their gloss on our doors and within a few months they were nicotine yellow! We got vouchers – I was not impressed. I was told that B&Qs gloss is made by Crown. We were really impressed with the coverage of wickes paint but it stank for 3 days not sure if that is where all the other paint firms are going wrong focusing on no odour etc. We were quoted approx 250 for a hallway – paint supplied (2 days) so 125 GBP per day south of London.
