Think you’d be harder pressed to find biking down in the city area. Usually you need to be in National Forests and National lands. However I’m not certain. Most of the biking would be UpState.
If you had/got a car (not as cheap/easy as getting them here in the UK) it would open things up a lot.
It is a very lovely part of the world and if/when you get out of the city it’s beautiful in the mountains and along the shore. We used to go out for long hikes to see waterfalls and go dipping in the ocean at ‘The Shore’ as they tend to call it.
The city is nice too lots of museums and theatres and cultural things to do as well clubs and great restaurants. Some of the best pizza, (soft) pretzels, bagels, and doughnuts to be had in the world in my opinion.

As in NY NY? Or Albany NY? Or some other place?
I spent some lovely years of my childhood around Albany where the woods are in driving distance and I imagine there’d be lots of biking. It’s beautiful country.

There’s a number of free (modern) books I found on Amazon; choose the under £1 category when you’re in the ebook section.

Crazy kids. We’re going to Germany for at least 6 months. Cannot really take him with us. I’m a bit 😕 about him leaving the family, but if he goes to a good home then I’d WTFU
He’s really lovely, not a lot of work. He likes his soft food mid afternoon (you can leave a small bowl of dry food out constantly) and can be a bit of a pest (sitting on keyboards, nesting on your lap) then if you’ve not given him some. But he doesn’t scratch furniture or make messes (knock things off tables or counters).

    Depends what she’s into reading…..but….

    Sabrina Fludde by Pauline Fisk
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

    Books By:
    Charles deLint
(for Fantasy/modern mythology) Especially- Yarrow, Angel of Darkness, or Svaha
    Toni Morrison
(for ‘modern classics’) Especially- Bluest Eye, Sula, or Beloved
    Garth Nix
(if she’s not already gone there, but while the characters are really well written they are a bit childish (but depends if she’s reading DWynneJones as they are similar to her)
    Virginia Woolf
(More modern classics, but slightly older) Mrs. Dalloway, The Waves, Orlando. If you do Mrs. Dalloway I would really encourage you to also get Micheal Cunningham’s The Hours as they are related (but the latter is more modern you might remember there was a movie not long ago) and it’s especially good too.

    I could go on…

Well Cbeebies is on the telly and I’m weaving, which means I’m actually stopping Lilgrips from taking everything in the house out of it’s actual spot and placing it on the floor or under the sofa cushions…

I’d do B half way (get a coffee and read a paper maybe take notes for C) then do D then do E. When you get back from E do a little A.

I can report (by the way) that it tastes very yummy.
However there seems to be lots of fluid in it when it did not have hardly any when I put it all together. My lasagne is like this too. Go figure.

bjeesus! warn a person before you put graphic grossness on a page…

I’ve heard if you praise them for bringing you things they stop.. however our cat usually only brings us things when we have house guests which is not too often… tho not too long ago he brought me the tiniest little bird I have ever seen, looked nearly just born though it was late in the season for it… I can honestly say spindly feet and beak smeared with blood and fluffy feathers all over my kitchen made me wretch…

Molgrips is your man he had an IT job there… I on the other hand visited him there and it was utterly lovely (but I come from a similar climate). You must like snow and Winter and remember that Spring takes longer to come. We fantasize about moving there. 🙂

thanks kimbers I did indeed mean that

“Knob of beef dripping (optional)” iDave? whatever does that mean? I’d have to say in my current mind set it sounds just a little too ‘sexy’ for my sort of cooking.

but as a product someone invented I’d say duct-tape too, and it goes with sex nicely (if asked)

I would, did, and probably will vote for Obama.
It’s interesting to read what others think and feel about him. It’s always easier from the outside. I really agree with the idea that other Americans are looking for change and were expecting big changes/fast changes and what they’ve got is a level headed leader who is trying to implement the right changes.
I’ve got my concerns about things moving too fast like they currently are over here. If you move too fast you cannot see the cause and effect very well.
