Agree re the pedals. Many moons ago I had a 106 xsi which I loved, suited me fine as I have small feet, but GF really struggled driving it as the pedals were too close together.

It was a completely unreliable piece of sh1t mind. Great fun to drive though.

Get you to a proper kitchen shop, there is an excellent one in Leeds (my favourite shop!) where they will talk you through the different ones and you can taste etc.

Leeds is the centre of the universe and it’s easy to have a great night out here so ner! 😉

For a bit of class, you could head for Epernay, the champagne bar. Or the canapes in harvey nicks bar are good too.

Is that weird fast food place still open just behind the Corn Exchange? It does some exotic food from somewhere other than the usual India/China/Turkey.

yes. I walk past it every day, can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called though! It’s something middle eastern I think?

The karting place is excellent, well worth it.

Mojo is ok, usually rammed though.

But these people have been used to an unfair advantage all their lives, they cannot be expected to play by the same rules as those who have come through the state system.

Do you know for sure none of them came through the state system or are you just making an assumption? 4 members of my family either went to or got places at Cambridge and didn’t take them, they were all state educated.

I find road riding or running better for clearing your head than mtb. You can just empty your head and concentrate on the rhythms.

mtb is good for filling your head, and gives you a more of a high, but road and running better for emptying your head and realising that it might all be ok afterall.

how can you wear clothes that are over 10 years old?

    Why on earth not??

I’ve got a pair of endura shorts – kind of like an all in one suit that I need to replace the zip on – other than that they’re fine and I was still using them last year, they must be about 12 years old. Also have a grey pace fleece of about the same age.

oldest of all though has to be my old riding jodphurs, I think I got them when I was 15. They don’t get much wear these days as I don’t ride often (less than once a year) but they’re what I wear when I do ride. Gulp, they’re 20 years old. How was me being 15 nearly 20 years ago????

I would just recommend going to a good road shop and getting someone to look at your fit on a bike.

I second this – I got mine from Ribble where they have a fitting jig and can play about and see what suits your shape.

My mind is made up now, I’ve booked the time off work and everything 🙂

I wonder if it will be full though, seems a lot of people might be not bothering this year.

yes, very mildly (also cat / hayfever induced). have a blue inhaler, use it about every 6 weeks I reckon, maybe not even that.

PS mine started at about aged 30

Why don’t you enter as a four with two imaginary friends? Or are you that unpopular that even your imaginary friends are avoiding you?

mixed teams have to be a 5.

thanks for reminding him I beat him last year though. shall we take bets on this years result??

I think you should solo, as you deserve to suffer as it’s your fault that I’m doing it this year. If you hadn’t solo’d last year I wouldn’t have popped over to support, wouldn’t have thought ‘hey, there’s quite a good atmosphere’, wouldn’t have thought ‘I might actually do it next year’, wouldn’t have got a spot on an AMTB team, and, crucially wouldn’t be spending TWENTY FUNKING FOUR-PLUS HOURS WITH SHELDON.

    Cow.

if I solo again at least you can take the p out of me from the amtb camp this year.

    Not bothering this year.

I was thinking of not tbh, but I know fine well if I don’t enter we’ll have a lovely summer!

hopefully improve on last year’s “not too bad” result.

that was my thinking too. Was quite pleased with my result, but have a nagging feeling I should have done at least one more lap 😉 still, I think you probably always have that feeling.

I quite often run mine with nothing in at all, still comes clean unless you’ve got really dirty pans in there.

I use powder rather than tablets as you really don’t need much in at all. same for washing machine.

It’s the not knowing that’s the hard part, keep expecting him to storm in at any moment in his usual vocal way.

It is horrible, it really is 🙁 I hope he’s home soon.

Ours went missing for about 4 days and returned home injured, but he’s fine now. He may well be stuck in a shed or garage so it’s worth a quick chat with the neighbours to ask them to check for him.

When you’re out, try riding out of the saddle as much as you can.
