I also agree with the being able to smell spring thing. also you can often smell when it’s about to rain.

As you know my Juliana is still going strong, I got it in March 2005 and till late 2007 it was my only bike (even now gets ridden far more than the voodoo), and got ridden 2 or 3 times a week for most of that time. I think I’ve replaced the bearings once (possibly twice).

And what is classed as middle age now……40, 50, 60 ?

I am 35 this year and at the moment am feeling distinctly odd about it all – I wouldn’t say I’ve got as far as a mid life crisis yet, but am definitely feeling a bit wibbly about fear of approaching middle age.

so I had a chat with my dad about it the other week. He told me that I was not at all approaching middle age, I can’t be because he hadn’t reached it yet. Middle age is apparently always 10 years older than he is currently. So, at the moment, middle age is 85. I’ve plenty of time left 🙂

Gas & Electric £134 (but we have an open plan downstairs that costs a lot to heat)
Water £25 – get a meter fitted they do it for free and it’s much cheaper if there is only 2 of you
Insurance £37 – (M&S so covers bikes!)
Our phone is £9.99 rental and free evening and weekend calls, but is lumped in with our tv and broadband as well.

don’t forget to budget for life insurance to cover your mortgage too, we pay £20 a month.

When you find yourself genuinely questioning whether the vet you saw last week is old enough to be qualified.

Oh and when you saw 4 police officers who all looked like said vet’s younger brothers and sisters.

I bought GF a caterham slalom day for his 30th, directly through Caterham. There was a choice of venues, we went to Silverstone. Would thoroughly recommend it, it was a great day, he really enjoyed it.

there were no where near as many people on his day as lord s mentions above, maybe 10? It seemed much better vfm than most other car days I looked at. I booked it after recommendataions from a few people on here.

Why? We like ours. Not for the wannabe masterchef efforts of course, but it did its job.

I didn’t really do much training, I just tried to ride as much as possible. Oh and I was doing turbo training sessions, but I was doing them to improve generally fitness anyway. I think the stubborn bastart side of me was of more benefit than fitness – riding wise I just kept on plodding round really. Oh and have 3 people in the pits to make you do one last lap.

We tend to go to the Ladybower Inn.
