Hora, it's a drive to the coast, but as easygirl says, there's a lagoon at a walkable distance.

Hora, Rivierabike can sort out other stuff for her to do, walking etc. The hotel they use apparently has fab food – we didn't stay there last year, we camped, but the other guests raved about the food so much & the riding was so good we are going back in september.

Rob you don't need to justify yourself, you did a brilliant race. If anyone thinks they could win "easily" then they should enter and see just how easy it is.

Yes, it's not the most technical of courses, but there is also nowhere on the course you can rest, it is really hard work, you had to pedal a lot of the downhills as well in those conditions. Add on to that that you get so tired that the trees are jumping out at you and you can't tell your left from your right any more and just keeping going is all you can do. So to win that is a tremendous acheivement. Well done Rob.

I rode my ht because my fs has crap mud clearance.

I agree the turnout was much lower than previous years – I only entered a month ago, so it wasn't sold out. I think last years weather must have put a lot of people off. However when they did the rider briefing there seemed to be loads of first timers, which can only be a good thing. I thought the atmosphere out on the course was excellent.

I was thinking of an easy pootle around Eccup on thursday evening, drop me an email (in profile) if you fancy it? We're doing a kind of regular girls night on a Thursday at the moment, as Gringerd's fiancee has recently got a mountain bike and I've been taking her out, so you'd be welcome to any of those, they're a very social pace.

Yes it totally did Joolze, it was the absolute perfect way to spend my birthday and I loved every second of it 🙂

I would definitely be up for a very slow recovery ride one evening this week (towards the end of the week!) if you're free?

I was chatting to the guy with the broken frame – he'd brought another bike with him, but it was more of a downhill bike. don't think that'd have been much fun on that course!

Eth3er and Foxychick getting the crowd up the final climb to the whoops to sing me happy birthday on my last lap so I had to make sure I rode the climb.

Yeah, forgot to mention the guys with the cowbells etc, they were great!

Also have to say, GF was a brilliant support crew. I went out too fast in my first 3 laps and half way round the 3rd was feeling awful and panicky. He gave me a proper talking to and sorted my head out and I wouldn't have finished it without him.

Lee, that was me with the gold tassles, I remember your pompom!

MrSparkle, he apologised so nicely on the next lap I managed to forgive him 😉

    well done Rob! Excellent result.

Oh and special mention to Eth3r who was very cheery throughout as well and kept getting people to sing happy birthday to me!

I agree Lee, the atmosphere on the course was really good I thought.

Cheers Harry, nice to see you yesterday.

Have to say I am over the moon. Kept to my goal which was to keep going and not have any long stops, and did one over my lap goal of 12. I also honestly could not have done another lap.

Massive well done to Terra who not only came 3rd but also cheered me on each time he saw me.

I definitely made the right decision, had a great weekend, and plenty of fuss made of me 🙂

stupid expensive coffee machine was the best purchase we made in a long time!

And I'm not sure I see the problem with weeing in the shower, it all gets washed away.

And I don't clean my camelbak.

    love, mrsskank.

ps I make no comments about farting. Lets just say there are advantages to being alone in the office 😉

I was coming on to recommend the one that Kimbers mentioned at the top. Tis lovely, with either milk or yoghurt. Yum. This week I have mainly been adding blueberries in.

And, like TJ says, don't always choose the "cuddly" ones.

I'd agree with that. My monthly dd goes to these people[/url] it's a great charity, people like this kept my grandmother living at home until she died, which is what she wanted, independence is a real gift.
