It's just a bike. A collection of mechanical parts aimed at providing a function. If it's not doing what you want it to do, there's no point in having it.

I think there's two schools of thought on this. Theoretically I agree with you, but emotionally not at all. My bikes are part of my memories and have a lot of sentimental value.
