think you're missing the point Hora, if he absolutely doesn't want kids and she absolutely does, there just isn't any future in the relationship, it doesn't matter whether theyr're compatible living together or not. It's a fundemental thing that needs to be agreed on reasonably early on, the older the woman is, the earlier it needs to be broached really. And if she's early 40s even more so, it would be downright cruel to string her along.

yup he's got to tell her outright, it's not fair otherwise – as mrs toast says it's just selfish.

wot clubber said, it's nice to have a proper finish, shake pat's hand, get the cheers etc etc.

My strategy was to just try not to have any really long breaks. I wanted to finish knowing I couldn't have done any more laps, and not to have had a kip. I started slow (well I started too fast but got Rich to talk me back to being the right speed), granny ring is your friend. I tried to do 2 laps, rest, 2 laps, rest – having a small amount to eat at each rest. After the middle of the night I was down to one lap then rest, but my rests didn't get any longer. I think the longest I had off was about half an hour.

My other strategy was to keep enjoying it 🙂 keep smiling.

    Have fun!

we have a hotpoint washer dryer and it was ok at first. It's 10 years old now, has been totally reliable, but in the last year or so they dryer hasn't been so great – I only use it in emergencies anyway as I prefer to line dry if I can. Having said that, I'd happily buy another – up till now we've had no complaints at all with it.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of knitting vids on youtube to show you how to cast off. Or register on Ravelry.
Can you knit me a blanket for the baby please? 😉

I use small men's endura bibs, or I have a pair of non-bib womens enduras as well.

We have no choice in these matters – she decides and anyone that says otherwise is a damned liar!

some of us are still reasonable human beings. Even if I did cry in mothercare last week. 😆

We’ve not bought one. It’ll be in with us for a good while so don’t see the point. May buy one when it goes into own room, may not – probably not as our upstairs is not large and our downstairs is all open plan, so I think we’ll be able to hear anything anyway. Having said that, if you want one, buy one!

She (and possibly the NCT in general) seem to be very anti-NHS. She promoted home births very strongly and criticsed many, many of the NHS practices and policies.

this is where the difference in teachers comes, our classes weren't like that at all.

I think not being weighed is current guidelines, I haven’t been weighed since booking in – I have a feeling they only do it if they think it’s an issue.

Idave, as long as you’re prepared to make some food while you’re here that’s fine 😉

(cleaning not an issue, we have thought ahead and have cleaning lady)

Yes, NCT will definitely help with when to go in, also great for coping strategies for before you go in such as positions to try out etc etc. We also had a breastfeeding session, which we both found v helpful.

We had no “ommm” chanting and no panting either most disappointing 😉

I agree with MrsN’s assessment of NHS info though, it’s been useless. Midwife not interested in anything other than BP and urine tests, you’re just in and out of the appointments – we requested NHS classes and have heard zero back on them. Although we did go to a v good talk at the hosp last night about waterbirth.

    Rich is very excited!

We plan on welcoming anyone who wants to come, but then just kicking them out when we need a rest.

We luckily managed to avoid awkward parental conversation, thanks to my dad being great and offering up fact that they were booking a hotel for their grandparental visit, which saved us potentially offending by telling them we didn’t want anyone overnight.

I can’t see us wanting no visitors at all, will want to show off the baby!

:lol:Good luck with the NCT OMINT, we’ve just finished ours. Have to say we really enjoyed them. We were prepared for some proper hippy sh1t, but it wasn’t at all – but I have heard it is v dependent on the teacher. Our group were great and we all got on v well, so am looking forward to starting ML in 3 weeks (not that I’m counting 😉 ) to get together again.

Hope MrsNorth is ok? I seem to have ballooned suddenly in the last few weeks and am now proper comdedy basket ball up jumper looking, is quite entertaining

There is a real crop of STW babies due in the next couple of months isn’t there?

We were put off by quinnys by the fact that every one we looked at (in a few shops) was broken, didn't seem a great selling point!

Re slings, my usual plug for my friend Phil at little possums[/url] she will sort you out. We tried on a few at nct the other week and I'm going to a Kari-me. It looks complicated, but it's actually dead easy to put on.

we were going for that one right till the last minute a_a, when we changed our minds, the spin seemed smaller and more manoeverable (sp?) so we went for that instead.

don't you ask this every year??

a spa day? jewellery? weekend away? any of those would work for me.

Go and try a load, what looks good on paper doesn't always feel good when you push them round a shop. we've gone for the mothercare spin, a big part of the reason was that you can detach the car seat from the base unit onehanded, which you can't with all the ones that take Maxi-cosis.

    ps congrats 🙂
